Thank you for this beautiful video Tara! This was a mini masterclass on how to do antiques the right way! love your style so much. I’m 59 now, but I’ve been collecting antiques ( and have inherited some very special pieces)since I was newly married at 22. I’ve always managed to avoid the trendy furniture and decor of each decade, and have stayed true to the piece and style that really speak to me. I never wanted want everyone else had. I add in a little Art Deco and some contemporary art, but only the things I love. I can’t believe that I haven’t yet purchased “Soul of the Home” yet. I’m off to do that right now! Thank you Tara for the inspiration.
What a beautiful video and oral presentation of your journey. Your work is home, comfort, and a nest that says welcome. Collecting . . . my heart was racing . . . so me. Thank you.
Thank you for the tour of your home - your story told through your objects, history aplenty, sophisticated, elegant yet so relaxed. No one does it like you Ms. Shaw. Simply stunning.
I watched and listened and learned. Thanks for sharing your majestic home and knowledge. I’m ready to explore and re-decorate my home inside and outside.
Dear Tara, you have great antiques collection. Arranged nicely in your beautiful house. I love antiques too. Im glad that i can watch your collection in this video. Appreaciate the antiques makes you a special person. Tq
I was in Tara’s shop last Tuesday while in NOLA and would have taken everything including her dog, Brother Luca. I’ve never felt that way about any store. Her eye is impeccable.
I'm happy to still see that there are people left in the professional world of decorating who still believe in the art of the collecting. I feel too much emphasis has been placed on draconian minimalism as of late. Collections not clutter does indeed require a careful balance. I love it when I come across clients who know well the difference!
and here I am thinking I love only anything modern, You have changed my mind. I am hunting everything I am seeing in your video, I love everything in your unique house.
I couldn't agree more about the canopy bed. Just received the first one I've ever had. Don't know why I didn't think to get one for myself years ago. It is so soothing to the nervous system. I knew it would be but it exceeded my expectations.
A great story of your journey of collecting beautiful furnishings. I love RH. I didn’t realize you influenced or created some of their pieces. Your home is 30,000 sq. ft. of sheer beauty.
Your outfit is stunning! The top you're wearing is a stand alone art 🎨 piece. I was saddened when I realized you were not in Orange County, California..... I would have made a bee line to your Gallery as I live in OC California.
Ms shaw all you do is just beautiful !!.what is not to like ..I think people should live beautiful.!! But the rather horrible electronics .motorcycle posters ..cheap ugly China...etc etc ...keep the good work .
Loved this but for the love of God, it's a chaise longue, not lounge! It's French, meaning long chair. Chaise lounge makes absolutely no sense and Americans, specifically designers, need to stop saying it!
Beautiful interiors throughout but the use of the term "antiquities" is unfortunate really. Antiquity refers to pieces close to a century and old so the word "antique" would be the correct term.
That amore in the living room was way too big and looked out of place. She needs a decorator for her home. Nothing goes together. The vases on the table were always around modern chairs. It just looked contrived and unimpressive. The office looked cohesive and had a rhythm to it.
in my opinion this is all so staged...its always the same narratieve ...'i collect peaces that tell a story' oh please, i heard this about a million times...you just buy/sell them because they look good in a magazine, all these interiors look basicly the same. I'ts far from original staging house with a bunch of so called old extremely overpriced furniture...some of the stuff doesn't even make sense : for example the old books...as if you would actually read them. these interiors look like about every photo you see when you open an interior decoration magazine. These interiors have nothing to do with personality or being unique...it's all about showing off and trying to look like all the other rich people's houses. Oh look my table came from Sweden, and my mirror from Italy....i'm going to hang it in my boudoir (whatever that is).
Anisa - you sound like a bitter, jealous old soul. 1. 'I collect pieces that tell a story' oh please, I heard this about a million times." And you probably will hear it a million times more because THAT IS WHY PEOPLE COLLECT THINGS ... DUH! 2. It tells their stories which means the furniture has meaning to them. 3. You may be more electric than traditional but that is fine. I love Tara Shaw because she mixes the traditional with the modern and it looks and feels good to me. 3. I typically find that focusing on what I like, rather than detest improves my quality of life. You should try it!
Mixing styles so brutally shades the beauty of the real valuable historical items. Besides that your house looks very like a museum. I guess you don't live there or you don't spend much time there
madam have you ever think how many live of kids who dying from diseases and hunger you safe can for this money you will never get satisfied collected and collecting luxury furniture ....................................

Your interiors are exquisite. Each piece of furniture is a piece of art. The perfect balance between antiques and modern/contemporary.
I strongly agree with you. 🥰
What a beautiful video and oral presentation of your journey. Your work is home, comfort, and a nest that says welcome. Collecting . . . my heart was racing . . . so me. Thank you.

Sorry but I was disappointed but what does my opinion count
Loved this but for the love of God, it's a chaise longue, not lounge! It's French, meaning long chair. Chaise lounge makes absolutely no sense and Americans, specifically designers, need to stop saying it!
HERMOSO
Guaooooooooooooooo…that’s art

My only complaint- everything is white and beige.
That amore in the living room was way too big and looked out of place. She needs a decorator for her home. Nothing goes together. The vases on the table were always around modern chairs. It just looked contrived and unimpressive. The office looked cohesive and had a rhythm to it.
@Golden Angel . . . 7 subscribers and a few viewers . . . REALLY!!!
Doesn't agree at all. The interior was fabulous. That proves that taste and colours are very personal, as we say in France.
Your home is so yummy.
