I think of Daniil as Misha's son - haha. He's like a reincarnation of him. I saw Baryshnikov dance twice & Daniil twice. He really is a good as Misha & equally as charismatic. Some of his hand flourishes and the way he holds his head, it is uncanny how much he is like Misha. It's like Ive hopped into a Tardis and been transported in time. Daniil is THAT good. Both dancer are very well liked by their fellow dancers too. Lovely men ❤❤❤
I saw Baryshnikov dancing with Makarova before they left the Kirov. I saw him many times since but will always remember that first time. We had never heard of them.
Baryshnikov over all the others, but Simkin is excellent too. Barani, whom I didn’t know, seems to be very interested in what there is on the floor 😅 and I don’t like his athletic spider try-hard kind of style and the grumpy expression.
As much as I love Baryshnikov in anything, I have to say that my favorite here was Barani. More than any of them, he really projected the character of a full-of-himself toreador. I felt he really told his story. That, and the heights he achieved, made him for me the most fun to watch. (Even if he is not in the same "class" as the others, I feel he carried it off here. And I have to say my very close second favorite here is Polunin, also for the storytelling as well as his technique.)
I love Baryshnikov, but only because people TOLD me he's the greatest, not because I KNOW he's the greatest. Why IS he considered the greatest, exactly?
All that the other commenters said and, his musicality is unparalleled. Notice how the tempo of his performance is faster than the others. Notice also how his choreography is more complex, more interesting, even at that accelerated tempo. We watch the others dance and they are very, very good. Misha takes us dancing with him. And to top it off: he was 35 years old in that clip. He was older than anybody else in this compilation. That was 1983. And yet, his athletic ability was breathtaking and his technique stands the passage of time.
Stylish, a technical virtuoso, musical (never misses a beat) and never shows off. His technique serves his artistry and the narrative, instead of overpowering everything else.
He’s not the best. He was one of the best in his prime but there are so many others now that are better or equal to him in his prime. People say he’s the best because back then pretty much no one could compete
I love most of this but my pet hate is Barani. You can't really see it here but he has the worst habit of clawing his right foot on nearly every take off except in tours. It has been going on for years and a lot of us have always wondered if anyone had ever tried to fix it. He has so much talent for turns and jumps but this one little thing........
He has a horrible habit of tensing his shoulders and obscuring his neckline as well, which is a great pet peeve of mine. You should be elongating your lines not shorten them! But he has great Spanish flair and lovely jumps.
You can notice that Baryshnikov simplifies his performance in many ways, avoiding complex and difficult movements for him. This is especially evident when you compare him with Polunin, in whom every detail of movement is executed with maximum complexity and perfect precision. Baryshnikov would never have been able to repeat the quality of movements of Polunin. In addition, he is much shorter than Polunin and contributes less, so it seems that he dances easily, plus simplifying complex pirouettes.
The orchestra under Baryschnikov’s performance was speeding up the tempo towards the end, and he couldn’t keep up. That was NOT his fault, but the directors’. Have seen it before with Dutch Opera and Ballet, and it creates such a discord in the performance…
Very ignirant comment. Baryshnikov is techniquely better on every level. The difference you see is the change in the 3rd section. Maybe you are not a trained dancer, but actually you gave baryshnikov your greatest compliment as ballet strives to seem effortless. Also this variation of baryshnikov is towards the end of his career, filmed live on the production he was the director of
@@EreZm1 Seems like you consider ballet from the point of a view of a football fan . You feel bitter when your team loses and become even aggressive. Evidently you are not Russian and your perception of ballet is different.
No contest ... Sergei is the only one enjoying it! This is a wedding pdd where is the enjoyment in the others ????? The others are mostly gymnasts with little charisma. Even Baryshnikov has disappointing charisma in this clip. Unusually so. Why so serious? Vasiliev has second best charisma in his clip here and a wonderfully controlled slow end to one of his pirouettes. Barani has wonderful height in one of the cabrioles and super multiple spins. Sergei has beautiful jete manège and cleanest lines as well as looking the most effortless and natural performer.
Misha is outstanding. He has this stage presence that nobody can match. His athleticism and thecnique are unmatched.
Excellent all of them!!!!
I didn't know mr. Barani. He is very good, and he has more "spanish" movements than the others.
He was born in Cuba
Nurejev
Mr. Barani was not in the same class as the others. Too much mugging. Too much visible effort. Not as musical
Yesss i agrée, Barani is incredible spanish jumper !!! But they are all gooood !!
All are superb but Baryshnikov and Simkin - Incredible!
Totally agree. ❤❤❤

Those are my two favorites as well
Wow all of them are amazing. So powerful. Such energy but Baryshnikov is another level!
All wonderful. Polunin and Baryshnikov are the stand outs with their commanding presence and technical prowess. Effortless execution!
Wow, everyone has his own way to express power and joy of dancing this variation 💪
I saw Baryshnikov dancing with Makarova before they left the Kirov. I saw him many times since but will always remember that first time. We had never heard of them.
Polunin 😍 and his perfect technique. The best
WOW! Loved them all! The power...its like watching a magnificent tiger's graceful, but powerful motions...a masterpiece of human movements!
I love Barani most. He is truly the matador!
5 amazing dancers!! I’m a Danii girl all the way though....bravo to all!! 👏🏼 🌹
Baryshnikov by a very wide margin.
Exactly 💯
Solojiev Vladimir Vasiliev as good as Barysnikov!!
Awesome video!! Each dancer brings his own unique interpretation to the stage and all of them are a pleasure to watch. C ❤❤❤
Thank you Cynthia ❤️
EL MEJOR Y UNICO DON QUIJLOTE ES EL GRAN JORGE BARANI DE LA BELLA CUBA Grs.
They are all wonderful, but I still prefer Polunin.
Mikhail Baryshinikov el mejor, excelente. insuperable
Barishnikov! 👏👏👏Georgeus, maravilhoso ! Perfeito, lindo ! ❤❤❤
There is something about MB that cannot be explained…..they are all very talented dancers however and enjoyable to watch…always love the ballet.
Amazing dancers! Misha is standing apart of course..
All of them Good!!!! but Ivan Vasiliev just caught my eye!
Baryshnikov by many miles! Simkin is excellent also.
Vassiliev is astonishing and brilliant
Baryshnikov over all the others, but Simkin is excellent too. Barani, whom I didn’t know, seems to be very interested in what there is on the floor 😅 and I don’t like his athletic spider try-hard kind of style and the grumpy expression.
It’s a privilege to see all dance! Thank you!
Each of them is a prince to me😆
Fantásticos todos!!!
All are amazing and unique!
Grs.

Misha owns this role !
I saw him dance it , long ago I was 14 , i aspired to partner him in this ballet !
It was made for Baryshnikov ❤
Música, dança, balé, satisfação!
Barishnikov and Barani. But I like Alexander Godunov - forever!
He absolutely belonged in this video... Godunov was incredible in this variation.
La perfezione!!
I love all of them ❤
Baryshnikov always the master..
Barani, Simkin too much show-off.
Where are Bocca and Nureyev ?
Polunin and Vasiliev, supple and strong like a profiterole.
💪🙈🍰
LOL, That made me LOL! And yet so true...
Increíble ❤️❤️❤️❤️💖
Masterful❤
They are all super! But Ivan some more)
Are missing Carlos Acosta and now Kimin Kim🔥🎶💕

@@solomon8692 there's a musicality Baryshnikov has which is unparalleled. He becomes the music. Watch White Nights. Legendary.
WOW! I cannot choose which I prefer most, so can I have all of them?
Ahah sure, we regrouped them on purpose so you can have them all without choosing just one 😜
Maravilhosos!🙏❤️💐👏👏👏🇧🇷🖖
Baryshnikov is king
Anything good in ballet begins with Bar... Baryshinkov,Barani.
Where is the best Basil? Where is Godunov?
Barani's grace here is undeniable, far superior character-wise
Missed Angel Corella and Carlos Acosta

Details make the difference, interesting feedback 😯
I agree he has a terrible sickle , and also goes into most jetes with a flexed foot , and very little panache.
He has a horrible habit of tensing his shoulders and obscuring his neckline as well, which is a great pet peeve of mine. You should be elongating your lines not shorten them! But he has great Spanish flair and lovely jumps.
Right. This is a horrible trick or a little trap
@@carlottabrianza7372 so does Baryshnikov but no one cares cause he’s “the best”

Sergei Polunin the Best!
It's a pity so many of them are wearing black, it makes it hard to pick out the movements against the dark background
Barani and Baryshnikov are amazing
Miskha Baryshnikov e Sergey Polunin i miogliori !!!

Holy muscles
I got to see Baryshnikov and Makarova before they left the Kirov.
All superb but Barani is most in character and Baryshnikov? Well effortless aristocracy.. still a class onto himself
The reason the Russians are so fantastic is that their government trains them. Here you can only dance if your folks can afford it.
🙇♀️🤔🤩😍👏
Vasilev
👏👏👏🌟🙌🌟🙌🌟🙌

Leonid Sarafanov
There is only one Baryshnikov.
C
Can’t,
