I stayed at Garza Blanca Los Cabos. I have to agree that one of the biggest cons is the lack of entertainment, which you would expect in a 5 diamond resort. Another con is the lack of availability of reservations for certain activities and restaurants. When we arrived, all of the activities we were interested in were booked already. The drinks were phenomenal! Overall, I love this resort. As far as entertainment goes, I would think Cancun offers enough nightly activities. Overall, this resort is pretty amazing!
I stayed there about a year and a half ago. Had pretty much the same experience as you did. Most of it I could overlook but their coffee was terrible. No espresso bar and their filter coffee was like something a cowboy would make over a campfire. Also the gym wasnt great. Still, loved my stay there. Food was amazing.
Loved your review. We are going in August . In all the room tours I did not see any drawers to put clothes away . Do you have to keep things in Luggage. We have the 1 bedroom and a few of us are in Jr suit double
We are at this resort right now. Good coverage of pros and cons! We like the relaxed elegance style of this resort. But on one of your points, we had to ask our butler to cover the glowing power button on the A/C control. It is toooo bright! We also have to cover the alarm clock with a towel every night it is bright as well. And we'd love some enetertainment options as well such as an outdoor movie.
Someone approached us and offered us a tour to Isla Mujeres, said we'll just drive around the island on a golf cart. We ended up at that hotel being sales talked into buying their unit for 3 hours.
A big con that was left out is the beach is not great for swimming. The water is murky and the ground is rocky. It’s also far away from any restaurants and entertainment.

Yes you have access to the lower tier resort but their facilities are outdated

Its up to you depends on how many days you are staying.

The spa is an up charge but you can use your hotel credit towards it which will bring the cost down.
