Someone just sent this to me and I have to say that was quite an awesome synopsis. It’s always interesting for me to hear someone give their view on what it is we’re doing! Thx for taking the time to give the listeners your take from a vocal coach perspective:) Funny thing is this performance is from well over 30 years ago lol. Keep doing what you’re doing.
Mac thank you and Take 6 for continuing to sing and for all the years and projects that you guys have worked on. You are the Founder of my favorite group and I had to type it to you. Wow, this guy description of Take 6 was impressive.
I LOVE your group's music so much! You don't understand how much comfort I've gotten listening to your music over the years from childhood until now. Thank you so much for the beautiful art/worship you all shared with the world. It is much appreciated!
I know you guys are not "Unsung" But I wish you had an episode. You guys need the spotlight. Greatest vocal group of all time in my estimation. Not enough appreciation for your guys by the industry
@@Nov.47 I know. I've known personality the members of Take 6 since I met them in 91. I'm talking about when Mervyn left, Brian was asked to join. He declined. Joey got to be Mervyn Warren's replacement. And Joey didn't join until 91
Also Take 6 met at Oakwood University, a Seventh Day Adventist HBCU which is famous for their choral music so their style of singing is also probably influenced by that. ETA Adventists back in the day were also a more conservative tradition when it came to music so a lot more focus on classical European styles, African American spirituals etc. As time has gone on Black Adventists have resisted even more the demonisation of Black music as 'bad' and so will hear more of that incorporated in services.
I loooooovvvvveee Take 6!! The harmonies gave/give me chills!! They sound so angelic, anointed, and soulful at the same time! Amazing! Overflow of blessings upon you, your family, and your brand continually 💜☦🕊🥰💖
3:00 is always soooo beautiful to me! That part in the song. It's like a subtle siren they all do with their voices. Like it comes up and down in a masterful way. There are so many parts of the performance to talk about. That baritone always amazes me! This is their best song imo. They, as always, fully rely on their voices in it! Each of them have such distinct roles in the full harmony. The sopranos, tenors and baritone (I don't who is who or how many). They are hands down the best male singing group.
they give me chills. how is it possible to have different vocal styles and have uniformity. like tighter than other male vocal groups. it's like a tunnel sound vs a choir sound. It's amazingggg.
I study ALL your dissertations bruh! U have one EXCELLENT vocabulary in helping us comprehend what these singers are doing! Praise God for creating vocal connoisseurs like u! U da real 1💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯
Great analysis. Thanks for educating us on how to listen. Whether in song, or otherwise, it spills over and is a huge benefit. The complex simplicity of their sound, their blend is so tight, it can’t be possible that any other note/sound could interject in between their layered voices. Their sound has a feel, it feels like the definition of purity.
Thank you! I'll listen to your analysis of the Take 6 techniques forever. I thought no one cared for them any more and your insights make my love of the best acappella group sing - again!
My mother loved Take 6. She played them often growing up as a kid. They are incredible and one of the best groups to have existed. Michael Jackson, Boyz 2 Men and many other went to them for vocals. You can hear them in their music if you recognize their sound
I really liked it when they joined with The Manhattan Transfer on a tour and cd/dvd release. Together it was super cool. I am so impressed by your expertise and how you educate others with such effective methodology. An impressive teacher indeed.
Thank you! This is excellent and as singers we love not only soloists but the variety of groups and how they do what they do and NO ONE does it like Take 6! Many have tried, but there is only 1 Take 6
This group came out when I was a teenager I had their first audio cassette and have always loved their beautiful " Barber Shop " harmony they still got it till this day! Thank You for your analysis🤗
Could you do an analysis of El Debarge " I Like It " and his duet with Faith Evans from his more recent cd SECOND CHANCE the song entitled, "Lay With You" Thank You in advance GOD BLESS!

I love Take 6, so much beautiful music. The harmony is so tight. They are definitely under rated. No music to hid the talent of these beautiful voices.
Take 6 is one of favorite groups. I can always clearly hear the individual voices as well as the blend of the harmonies. They're seemingly effortless delivery supports the subject matter about which they are singing. Your analysis explains how they achieved their marvelous sound. Thank you.

Thanks for helping us mere mortals understand the complexities of Take 6 harmonies. They are truly the BEST acapello male group. I call them the Earth,Wind & Fire of Gospel.
Brother Jaron, your analysis of Take 6 has been a wonderful insight. I've heard some vocal terms on here that I have never yet heard of. Looks like I need to seriously get some solid vocal coaching from your tips and techniques from the videos posted
I LOVE Take 6 😁. I expected this to be great, and it was. Thanks for analyzing it. I am still waiting for Kelly Rowland's cover of "You've Got A Friend". It's an acoustic gem, and I've never seen a voice teacher analyze anything Kelly (or Michelle for that matter) has done. They are premium vocalist and deserve love too.
I love this arrangement. Slightly different on the recorded version. STILL THE BEST MALE GROUP OUT HERE! I am amazed after all of these years. It's like hearing them for the first time all over again.
They revealed on their podcast that the only time they sang it in the original key was for the recording. It’s always lower when they sing it live, which changes the arrangement some.
OMG I LOVE TAKE 6!!!! You definitely have to be a serious fan to analyze them without being completely overtaken in your commentary by their insane vocal ability and the song itself!!!! This literally is my favorite song from them. I wonder why they changed the live performance from the studio performance? The soprano didn't have as many runs and the bridge was very different than the studio performance? Overall it was still dope! This was a VERY informative breakdown of this song!!! Loved this!
This is because the song was originally recorded in 1985 when they were the group Aliance at the time. When they became Take 6 they re recorded the song, but with a different arrangement ❤️ curtesy of Mervyn Warren
Glad I found this video. I've listened to these men for the better part of 35 years now. I'd heard the Manhattan Transfer before I heard of them so I was already familiar with complex vocal harmonies, but Take6 was about a powerful message delivered through stunning harmonies. Incredibly talented vocalists, all of them. I'll have a look through your channel for this, but on the off chance it isn't there, I would love to see you analyze Mr. Bobby McFerrin doing "Opportunity," and "Drive." His ability to make harmony from his voice and throat are incredible. I've never figured out how he does it. Thanks and God bless.
I LOVE Take 6!!! Glad you did this song. Though slightly different, I like the album version better. Very interested in hearing your take on A Quiet Place or Septembro.

I love Take 6. They’ve been part of my listening repertoire for forever. Their eponymous album and So Much 2 Say continues to be played to this day and served as an incredible aural and vocal training ground. This performance is so well polished and their precision and consistency is amazing.
Wow! FINALLY! I’m sick and tired of all the Pentatonix reactions, when really they are a mere yawn when compared to the almighty Take 6. Sorry, not sorry PTX fans. The mastery of their acapella will never be duplicated. Some groups come close, and no, not PTX. Once they’re gone, that’s it. Quincy Jones once called them “the baddest vocal group on the planet!”

Fun fact for those who may not know: Brian McKnight's older brother, Claude, is the first tenor. 💕
Yup. You can see the resemblance
Another fun fact is that Brian almost joined Take 6 before signing his first solo artist deal. That would’ve totally changed his career trajectory.
@@marcavonevans you are correct. He was chosen first but took the r and b deal. Mark Kibble little brother Joey Kibble ended up getting it as a backup

Three male performers with great voices
Prince-Do me baby, Maxwell-Submerge, Eric Bonet
