When I was like 25 I was low key mentally ill, abusing drugs, directionless, hopeless, didnt believe in myself at all. But then I was like "damn, should go for a run". I have been running ever since. I havent fixed all my problems, but I have learned that if I do something, I will get better at it. And thats a good start.
Showing this to my brother in hopes that it gets him out for xc and track so me and him can become a senior-freshman duo😼(also that Brandon guy seems pretty cool)
Everybodys hates running at the start, but there is a little hill you have to get over, but when you are over. It's so nice. Can't live without running now. I hope just one person gets motivated and gets into the running game from this video. You can't wish for more.
My favorite life lesson that I have learned from running is to always give your best even if your mind or body isn’t all there. I love the idea of committing to hard work and discipline even on the days where you don’t want to do it.
bro Yaseen is actually so funny some times "I'm not gonna say take the first step that's cornny but take the first step"😂 watching your vids make my day bro
Fire video, I agree with all of it! I ran my first 5k in 3rd grade, and now I’m competing as a freshman in college. And it has helped me with all challenges in life!
Man, I don't even want to think about what my life (personally and professionally) would look like had I not learned some of the life lessons that comes along with running. Great video!
commenting for the algorithm; also running has changed my life in a lot of ways you described. quote from bojack horseman: "It gets easier… Every day it gets a little easier… But you gotta do it every day - that's the hard part. But it does get easier." it applies to everything in life and running teaches you that
i appreciate the comment! That's the thing, the bojack quote makes it sound like it will be hard forever. I feel like that's true but the first two weeks to a month are freakishly harder than the rest of running in your life ever will be.
Yaseen, First, congratulations to you on your outstanding performances particularly competing in the Olympic marathon. This video is spot on! I've been running for almost 5 decades, and it's made a big difference in my life in many ways. Keep on working, achieving and inspiring. All the best.
@yaseenabdalla8713 Yaseen, Congratulations on your great performance in the NCAA Cross Country Championships this weekend. ...4th in a strong competitive field. When I saw you, I was shouting Yaseeeeeeeeen ! Your hairdo made you easy to spot. All the best.
this is so true. i started running last year when i was 12 bc of the same reason as yaseen except my coaches wanted me to do some sport, i joined and in 2 weeks- a month i changed my perspective, i used to hate running and now i’m typing this eating dinner after i just ran it does change lives people and it def changed mine
Thanks man I'm gonna start applying the lessons I've learned from running to talking to people too because you're right: I can make things happen in life if I just go out and get them
Running is *SO* weird… It’s fun for a little bit, but then you hit a hurdle as you lose motivation, don’t see much progress, it becomes difficult, don’t want to go so you skip a day, see others running so much further and faster, and people give up. Theres an interesting point where it just *clicks* and your brain goes “I want to go run today” and you finish your run strong. Then there’s another *click* where you just start racking up miles so easily. 1.5 months ago I was only running 5ks, 3 times a week. Then I met this guy in a club and he said do you want to do 4 miles and I went … uhhhh sure? (I was so scared) now a month and a half later I’m running 11 mile long runs and averaging a nearly 6 miles 3 times a week and that long run on Saturday. You MUST stick with it and you’ll meet some weird outside force and you just go go go. I’ve never felt the way I have before but it was because I stuck with it and now here I am running a 30 mile week! 🥲🏃🏻♂️

So true! It's just the start.

Ran 4 years of d3 track and xc. I objectively was not very good but god damn I still love to run and everything it's done for me.
Exactly! It's not about how good you are it's about challenging yourself!
