Actually it's made of pure ghee, perhaps in more quantity. Many non Indians might not relate... India is know for a variety of sweets made in pure ghee...this is one of them. You may comment on hygiene factor, but the same people who comment on hygiene have pani puri on street.

@@ashoktaleda871 i dont think it spoils the taste but cardamom adds flavour and saffron the color and flavor but ofcourse you have to use in very small quantities not to overpower the real taste of mysorepaak. i have seen people make it in my own home during weddings a few times that is why i believe they are necessary to make good flavorful mysorepaak.
