20:11 I forgot to add the subtitles here but I told her that it “feels like Spain with French people”
That’s pretty much what Montpellier felt like - a sunny and happy Mediterranean city with people who were more than happy to interact with one another while still keeping it French 😅🇫🇷
What a lovely place. Thank you for everyone in the video who helped me out with recommendations and thank you all for watching ❤️

Beautiful. I remember when I was a kid, in the late 80's, my parents drove all the way from Oslo to France in a Citroën CX with me in the backseat. Every summer. They were Francophiles 😂. France has a lot of great mid sizes cities like this.

Funny the same morning I filmed this video I met a lovely Norwegian couple visiting Montpellier with their daughter. Maybe your parents set the trend! 😊

@adamjmatheson Maybe. Fun, most Norwegian tourists in France end up in Paris, Cannes or Nice, not in Montpellier. They are way off track 😄. Great video btw

There are literally hundreds and hundreds of modern residential areas like the one you visited on your way to/from the market across the country. You did not expect that because that's not what France is known for - and not what it advertises, let's say. International visitors never get to see them because there isn't much (if anything) to do there, and because they are generally located on the outskirts of cities - there are exceptions to this of course, like the neighborhood around Bibliothèque François Mitterrand in Paris, for example. I don't live in Montpellier, only transferred there a couple of times, and I wasn't surprised when I heard the first guy in the video say the place was full of crazies, because that's exactly the feeling I got. In the summer some areas can feel a bit sketchy because of the many junkies/drunks/wanderers who "occupy" public spaces, including major landmarks like Place de la Comedie, which you show on your video. Unfortunately, the nice vibe and great Mediterranean weather tend to attract lots of dodgy characters from all around France and Europe in the summer, a problem encountered by many small cities in Southern France. Alcohol and substance abuse bring about lots of disorder, petty crime, street fights and so on. I think you visited the place at a better (quieter) time of the year. Again, I don't live there, it's just based on hearsay and a few conversations I had with people living in the immediate vicinity of Montpellier. I may be wrong but I heard the vibe was changing unfortunately, especially in the summer. I do not mean to give Montpellier a bad name at all, and I hope "Montpelliérains" are not offended! I actually also like this city, mind you.

I love your videos for their honesty, their authenticity, the original and unique content and the “one to one” real interaction with the locals everywhere you go. Many times behind the fake touristy places and the spotlights and into places created by locals for locals.. I subscribed not long ago, and i am happy i discovered you.. Stay original 👍

If you are around, you may like smaller cities and villages, Sommières and Nîmes, Sète and Agde.

Concise and straight to the point, proper advices on asking the locals for good places and on public transportation. No top ten tourist traps attractions. Showing you're managing to speak enough local language to get by with most people instead of repeating sterile 101 vocabulary lessons. Exemplary video.
    Bien joué, Florida man !

Montpellier est la ville certainement la plus sympa du sud de la France mais en revanche Marseille a beaucoup plus de personnalité.
