nah man, you might think that right now but i assure you once you know theory very well you might even find it handicaps you in the same way you’re handicapped now.. you can speak the language with your ear, you don’t need to know the technical - you say your beats “by ear” sucked, your ear just sucks that’s all.. now imagine once you know the constraints, your already bad ear is gonna suffer even more. how many musicians do you know that are amazing players and know their shit when it comes to theory - how many of them struggle to produce original ideas? trust me, i’ve been there you’re leaving one battle for another the only fix is to sit down consume create and get good stop making excuses
