thank you so much for this video, I bought an accident crash a200d 23k on the clock...now with this video Ive gained some knowledge that I will use on my rebuild.
Great content, these days I've noticed that dealership don't know what they are doing only keep on charging customers for failed repairs,it's no longer like in the olden days even the spares department don't know their parts, guys like mumbo they bring hope to vehicle repairs especially to us who are pationate about cars,KEEP THE GREAT JOB MUMBO
Awesome Video Mumbo, pretty clear what lengths you go managing a bustling workshop and content creation, was really shocked when you nor Muzi didn't get the award, but you at least arrived in an Aston!! Keep ploughing, very inspiring.
As a w177 a250 owner I must say, if you cannot afford the premium motorplan and warranty, prepare to see flames. Unless you can work on these yourself or are good friends with a merc tech, rather buy a lexus. Mercedes has spent +R250k on repairs on my car. We’re talking engine rebuild at 70000km🙃. If I did not have the premium motor plan and warranty, I’d be taking money out of my bond to fix my car😂 Top content as usual Mambo
100% agree with you its utter madness. Luckily I did not pay the 250k, the Mercedes dealership paid, it’s still an eye watering amount of money on repairs. And I barely abuse the car😂
Continue to repear and continue with your normal content Sir you are doing a great work Sir, I enjoy your videos, your view and the simplicity your on job.
great format more of this please !!!!!! , but can we also get a break down of the amount or labor u charged for that particular car so we a get a sense of how much u saved the customer ... had they came 2u in the first place
Very good review bro. I think you should do more of these or maybe start up a 2nd channel and do car reviews there. It was so nice to hear facts of the mechanical side of things which a lot of the other car reviewers don’t know about.
I think you should have a second channel for reviews. In each repair video you can put the review link in the description and vice versa. This will make the videos short and help convert those who are interested in reviews to watch repairs and vice versa. Just my opinionsl.
This is a great video. Very detailed and useful for many who may be looking to buy the car in question, and also very entertaining and educative for the rest of us. Please continue sir!!💯💯
To be honest, Merc and other German brands have been very greedy. They are simply building lemons, no quality material and at all, plus design is terrible, takes hours to access certain components, making labour cost exorbitant. They even price these lemons very high, everything is a million rand, then they die very quickly and cost an arm and leg to repair. No wonder the Chinese are showing them flames with sales.
I have a different view, dealerships make their money through service repairs. My alleged assumption is they simply don’t bother with service and repairs and would rather have you coming back and paying thousands of rands instead.
That's not true,I've owned a BMW 520d for a long time and it never gave me any problem it was even better after the expiry of the maintainance plan and warranty cause I did the service myself with all the parts bought at Goldwagen. If you do a proper service with genuine parts you'd never go wrong, and you must know that most dealers don't actually change most parts in your car when servicing it,in order to let your car breakdown so that they will milk you dry. Next time after the service of your car you must take it to the RMi service station and see how much original parts you'll get after they service your car and you'd be amazed to know that they never changed anything from the dealer they only change fluids and let you go.
I’ve owned a 220i that was very problematic from day 1 and when it was out of Motorplan the problems got worse and very costly with no resolution. I got rid of it.
In general. Diesel engines are built to last. The only component that prevents the Diesel engine from lasting is the EGR system. That's a major contributor towards having a clogged DPF.
😂😂 so 2 weeks ago I did the enthusiast thing and bought a high mileage n63 powered car. This weekend I wrenched on it to address the fundamentals. What a mission to work on that thing !! The amount of stuff I had to remove just so I could see the turbo oil return lines was crazy.By the time I was done my whole body ached like mad.

In my own opinion, I think it's the most reliable BMW petrol engine ever. There's someone I know whose F30 340i is at 280,000 km, and he hasn't had any issues. Even Toyota is using it on supras
@ mr mumbo sir, i really like and appreciate your honesty on any car you a review. Please continue this content and looking forward for your your reviews on audi A3 and mazda 3🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I still have a pic I took at the toll booth, where I was shocked by the previous gen A200d on the N1. I stand corrected however but, don't A series Mercs use Nissan engines? Nissan Micras if I'm not mistaken.
run away bruh u will see flames. get your self 120d B47 engine. BMW's are reliable in diesel engines the likes of B57/ B47 . In my own opinion BMW B58 Engine( 340i/ 140i) I think it's the most reliable BMW petrol engine ever. There's someone I know who drives a F30 340i and its mileage is at 280,000 km, and he hasn't had any issues. Even the current generation Toyota supras is using BMW B58 engine
@Tshepang_G you are 💯 Correct. I know bmw in my sleep. I drove both N20 and N13. This two are the worst after e90 320i. I love N13 and deliberately kept it for 10 years to learn. I can even fix it myself most of the problems. Preventative maintenance. It has hit 230k kms now. Truth is, i hate OIL LEAKS more than anything else on this N13. My next car is B47 or B58. I never recommend inexperienced buyer to get N13 and N20 because it'll end in tears.
Thanks for pushing me away from the N63, i have the N62 V8 engine, Bmw 650i convertible, quite a solid engine, when it comes time for an upgrade, i will go diesel and avoid N63
This isn't a proper Merc. I hate this Gen A Class. The second Gen that looked like a mommy wagon was way better engineered and way better quality than this plastic nonsense. And the one before this wasn't any better. They sold more because of the more conventional hatchback look but they were in every way a step down from an engineering and quality perspective. New German cars are a waste of money. No reliable. High maintenance costs. And minimal to no standard features. There's no point anymore. In the past it was about the engineering but that isn't even there anymore so it's pointless.
If you're buying a Benz, make sure it has a Mercedes engine and it's either an E Class upwards or GLE class upwards. Mercedes still makes decent engines. All the A, C, CLA, GLA, GLC models obviously have cost cutting plastics everywhere, questionable build quality for the price and the insane pricing. A small hatchback/sedan can't cost the same as a V6 Ranger Wildtrak. It makes no sense. But that's just my opinion. Do what you want with your money.
Agree. But it never used to be like that. The C Class from the mid to late 2000s and A Class from the same period were still built and engineered to a Mercedes standard. These new ones are not like that at all. Also, the GLE and GLS are awful and plagued with issues and it being built in America doesn't help. The only proper Mercs these days are an E or S and that's about it.
So this is a common South African problem, where people call after office hours and then complain that they can't reach you. I thought I was the only one suffering this lack of common sense.

I don't know about you but I find anything in excess of R250k quite excessive for just keeping a car running during its limited disposable lifetime.
