Definitely a good point to turn AA off, i see it so often that destroyers get hit by cv torps right at the start because they have their AA turned on. If you have it turned off, aa cv squadrons will already be to close to you to even drop torps in the first place and 9 out of 10 times they will go for a different ship instead as other ships AA will already be shooting at the planes. Same goes for bombers even though they can still potentially drop bombs on you, they usually dont as its a small window. I only have AA on when im spotted by the planes or other situations where im sure im not the target. Learning when and how to dodge is also important by using the map and sound of the planes, you can hear when they start diving
It’s not too much to expect a DD to adhere to a sort of “strict” play style, but the exception to this is the Paolo Emilio. If you see a Paolo on your team, don’t expect him to act like a normal DD. That guy is here for the memes
I would recommend knowing which ships have radar as a DD player. Going too far in without protection and not knowing where enemy is located is harmful to your health. I also draw an imaginary line across the map. If enemy dd is still alive I avoid crossing that line.
Why don't you like the new carrier spotting mechanics? IMO it's better now. It was busted before when a plane that can do 150+ knots could spot a destroyer for their entire team.
Hope that guy from yesterday (Shima) watches this. Always behind an island. staying on that spot for almost th entire game, slightly moving back and forth. (So no afk) Later in the game he was constantly reversing. WTF dude????
WG could improve their servers to improve this situation. WoWL is the only game I have an issue with disconnections on a regular basis. I'm not saying that it is all AFK cases, but would definitely help. Maybe if we had the opportunity to choose our server when logging in. Then if one is full, we can choose another.
@ashab4444 Many would say, including me, that Velos is a gunboat. However, it's a ship you could also throw torps at capital ships more often than most while doing it. So, while you mainly want to use the guns, you also don't want to ignore the torps. It just takes practice to get used to the flow of playing it.
The spotting change was the best thing that happened to legends. Stopped carriers from ruining one of the foundations of the game. - they are a rubbish unbalanced inclusion in the game but with way less impact these days
Saying carriers are shouldn't be in the game is like saying give me less choice of character classes in an RPG or if it is your weakness, asking a game to take away boss battles. Play Minecraft in creative mode if that is your style. Carriers may have got the highest damage scores when they messed with them, but they are probably underpowered now. They definitely need improved accuracy on bombing. A BB can regularly delete a cruiser with one salvo and DDs are silent death, but it is carriers who get the hate just because they can spot early and get players who hide. Change tactics and get better.
The best for battleships and cruisers trying to position, the worst for clueless teammates who can’t read the mini map. DDs are allowed to roam free. It’s a lose lose situation
@CamMcCulls-kx6zk Thing is carriers give you a sense of powerlessness that you shouldn't usually have to deal with. When they could spot DDs were very frustrating to play in carrier matches because they literally lost the one thing that makes them viable. Good luck surviving and doing your job if a CV can just sit above you and prevent you from playing the game. And as you said now they are honestly too weak. Generally this phenomenon of being impossible to balance is a sign a mechanic is fundamentally broken and shouldn't exist. I guarantee wg would not miss the 5 cv mains they'd lose.
@@CamMcCulls-kx6zkthe game was better without CVs. It’s a valid beef. It’s only like bitching about a character in a RPG if that class makes the game worse.
I will never understand why now players are calling the spotting changes bad simply because players are unaware of minimap spotting. Planes spotting ships was completely BROKEN and anyone telling you otherwise is simply in denial. Planes outright made DDs useless for anything other than torpedoing BBs as well as made DDs main goal in cap contesting basically a suicide mission if a CV had half a brain cell. It's just that because planes used to be able to spot things outright made every single sub-par DD player believe they no longer needed to spot and could just torp BBs and smoke up and farm whenever they felt like it basically forgoing any semblance of a DDs actual job and just relegating them to damage dealers with a subgoal of contesting caps if the coast is completely clear. Now, DDs actually have their proper roles set in stone that differentiates them from Cruisers. They are the best source for spotting (which gives the class the most base XP BTW) and because planes only spotting for themselves and minimap means it's not a sure death sentence when trying to contest caps in CV games. It's the best of both worlds. The only problem is there's many players still stuck in the pre-CV rework mindset that they don't NEED to spot in their DD for the team to succeed. THAT is the problem here. NOT that planes don't spot for everyone anymore. My solution? SHOW SPOTTING AND POTENTIAL DAMAGE IN MATCHES IN REAL TIME!!! Show each class exactly what they're doing right when it happens Wargaming! A DD spotting should have spotting damage ticking up each time it happens with a counter on the screen. As well as have medals awarded when they reach a milestone amount. Same goes with potential damage received for BBs. Why is it that Damage and Kills are the ONLY thing that grants awards for things? THAT is why Shimas only ever want to torp a back line. And THAT is why people only ever focus on damage and Kills. They don't understand their roles because all the game ever shows you is that you're doing good by getting damage and Kills. Nowhere is it telling players they're getting rewarded for doing anything else. For example. A DD getting 80-100k spotting damage and only 10-20k independent damage with an assisted cap and NOTHING else will likely net them top 3 on the leaderboard but how are they ever going to realize what they did was good outside of just shrugging and saying I dunno must've been the cap or something. But when they get a 150k damage 4 kill game and almost no spotting damage and get top spot they assume that's all they need to do to get there. People are idiots at the game because WG isn't giving them the whole picture. They aren't giving us all the info we could use to actually make bad players better and average players good. They think we are all helpless imbeciles and refuse to give us valuable information on the UI, valuable info on every ship in the menus. Simply because they don't want to. Not because they can't. Sorry for the rant here but saying the CV changes were bad because spotting isn't as easy now is just not okay in my opinion. A CV on a team could single handedly make a DDs job useless and basically erased the class every time you were in a CV match. That's not okay. And every ship that had catapult fighters could just spot for themselves for basically free making any Brawling BB or cruisers job THAT much harder. Making going dark and stealth rushing positions a thing of the past. I truly believe those things are a whole lot better now that planes only minimap spot. We just need more information added to minimaps, UI, and details, specs, and additions to the game as a whole so players have more info at their disposal instead of being forced to look up a YT video from years ago, or go onto WoWs PC or a wiki to find something out. Rant over I guess...
I will never understand how someone can hyper focus on one irrelevant part of a video and write an essay on it. Truth be told I don't care about the spotting changes, they are great for battleships and cruisers who are not permanently spotted now; its terrible for games where players don't want to shoot at DDs and let them roam free as no one can see them. EDIT * for the record I love the idea of the spotting damage and have asked for it on multiple occasions, to no avail.
@whereruaaron It's not a hyper focus even though my point was generated in a longer format. However, you are a major voice, if not the biggest, in the community even if WG doesn't want to listen. I'm well aware that they do not care about our feedback. But you were honest in your commentary that you do indeed care that planes don't spot or else you wouldn't have said it. I'm simply saying we had almost 4 years of that and all it caused was DDs too scared to even commit to a cap contest, and pacifism to the enth degree due to anyone being spotted by said planes getting absolutely bombed on by anyone and everyone sitting 13+kms away. I'm aware that due to bad players being bad , this still occurs, but brawling and DDs having an actual opportunity to do what they're supposed to do now that planes don't spot for everyone is a very good thing and can actually give those players the very opportunity to get better at doing their jobs. Same goes to the cruiser and BB players that don't shoot at those very DDs when someone does do the correct thing. It's only been a handful of months since this change. I say give those players time to adjust, and my suggestion to bring us that valuable information in many different aspects would truly help, in my opinion. I think I want what you want here. I just think the answer truly doesn't lie in a universe where planes were able to spot like they were allowed to do so many months ago. If PC has taught us anything, it's that allowing CVs and planes in general to run wild with their obnoxious spotting mechanics just makes everyone's day that much worse on a good day and even more so on a bad one. (I'm aware PC CVs are terrible for other reasons but spotting is the main one) That being said, I do enjoy your content, and the rest of what you said in the video is true and great advice to follow.
Agreed. Once they have established dominance over the cap/area or have identified the destroyer is elsewhere and are doing the primary job of spotting (as in the video), spamming torps and kiting is a must. I think a lot of these players see a good DD player do it and want to do the same, but don't realise that the hard work has already been done.
Great tutorial. My only suggestion would be a visual bullet point for those with attention issues. Clearly, the ones who really need this video don't have situational awareness. What irks me the most is when you get a DD that leaves their original cap to go to the other side to sit behind the BBs and spam torps. Then when the board is clear enough, they swoop in to get as many caps as they can. Despite losing the game and doing f'all for the team, they then get the highest score (and lots of cr). To them, they have had a great game when in reality they have contributed nothing. I'm not sure how to fix it, so players play better, but better tutorials and a seasonal tier system would be a start. Play for prizes over the season. As you win more games, you go up. Matching is based on your win-tier. It might take a bit more time in the matchmaker, but would make for much better matches.
So basically let my team spot while I sit in smoke, don’t not take advantage of the situation when both enemy DD’s are gone, and just sweep up after my team has eliminated all threats to a dd are gone. Gotcha.
Yeah just completely ignore the initial spotting, the elimination of the enemy DD, the continued spotting of the battleships, the solo cap and the focus by the carrier but go ahead and point out one specific instance in the game to fit your narrative
By doing that they are removing any advantages they had on the opposite flank, grouping up is never a good idea and if the lone DD can avoid them and survive he is wasting their time and probably winning the game for his team
Always love a good educational video. Thanks for sharing!

A A Ron. Keep teaching DD's. ❤ shite DD's kill the entire team......

Waiting for romallama to check in for this one💯💯💯
