I have managed to kill him using the shovel and a zap gun.
Thank you me and my party couldn't figure him out we tried glancing and looking away but only when we seen him peeking or after he was to close to ward him off. This will save us some headaches.
The rooms that they were curious about, the ones that look like backrooms tile pieces, those are where the Bracken (shadow man with glowing eyes) takes you when he kills you. You can find your teamates bodies there if he is the one who killed them. Also, those only spawn if he is on the map, so if there is not one of those rooms then there is no Bracken on the map.
