An important context for the Air Raid Sirens sounds at the beginning is that they were an ominous warning of impending horror. These were the signal to gather your family and try to get to relative safety before the bombing began. The true horror had passed by the time I was young but the sirens still sounded once a month and we hid under our desks as part of the drill when the sirens sounded.
Hi coming from England I grew up listening to Black Sabbath and most Rock Music And now aged 65 I am still listening this Awesome music all the best 👍👍

You’re damn right. Reactors trying to glean meaning from the video drives me nuts. So glad Polo upfront knew it was fan-made and was already so into the music he admitted he was not paying attention to the images. 🤘🏼🎧🤟🏼
This was pretty much the world's introduction to heavy metal, a genre that didn't exist before this. Many minds were blown away to be sure. Also, the song lyrics have many biblical references, and that cadence you referred to is that of a preacher. This most certainly is a sermon.
I first listened to this as a young teen, i remember buying the album. lying on my brdroom floor with my speakers either side of my head. Yes, I'm a british kid of the 70s. B;ack Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and AC/DC were my music as a thirteen year old. Here I am at 57 and still loving it.
The members of the band were born in post war England. It influenced their lives in many ways. Birmingham was an especially dreary place in post war Britain. So that coupled with the Vietnam War which was raging at the time is the basis for the lyrics. And I’m sure you also noticed the grooves in the bass and drum parts. The UK had a huge love for Soul and R n B in the early sixties and it definitely had an influence on the rock bands that came up in the late 60’s and early 70’s. The Who, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath all had some funky hints in their early albums especially.
Haven't listen to this in YEARS! Forgot how good it was. It was kinda ubiquitous when I was in high school....people were always playing it. Especially the drummers in marching band, at the back of the bus. My brother was one of them.
Great video! I'm always impressed that Sabbath recorded this album in practically one studio day. The precision of all the transitions is amazing. No cuts or editing, just straight live music in studio. Legendary

LOL I grew up hearing those. My father was in the US Air Force. I grew up in the late 70s and 80s. from 1974-79 we were on Guam, and those things would go off at least once or twice a week. It was always just a drill, never a real attack. But all us kids had to jump up and dive under our school desks every time. Because, you know, your average school desk will shield you from a bomb blast LOL

Bill Ward is a beast on the drums. Watch the live version and you'll see it for yourself
You are doing what we couldn't do with vinyl we just replayed the whole thing again and again. It never loses its power. The whole track is the sounds of war. It is simply brilliant.
Like the air raid sirens at the start 😏
Damn you a Sabbath fan too... such great taste... in reactors and music. :p
@DJ TURTLE Hi DJ you are uncovering my tastes as you say you seem to be on my wave length.😊🤗👍
Fairies wear boots and you gotta believe me! Fun song !
A great and genuine reaction man! I encourage you to check out the live version from Paris in 1970. It’s mind blowing.
I gotta second this. Showcases the talent of all band members...but especially Bull Ward. He beats the drums like they were calling him Bobby Brown and asking him to come back to bed.
I love this video to go with the song. I love that he steps out, it means the world to the song. It's very dystopian and I love it. That little girl is amazing.
“Paranoid” & “War Pigs” are 2 for 2. Now check out “Iron Man”, “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath”, “After Forever” and “Sweet Leaf” and it’ll be 6 for 6!! I saw them at Madison Square Garden back in December 1976!! Ted Nugent (aka the Motor City Mad Man) opened. What a night !!! #blacksabbath #warpigs #msg #1976
Bill Ward was one of the most criminally underrated drummers in rock history
An important context for the Air Raid Sirens sounds at the beginning is that they were an ominous warning of impending horror. These were the signal to gather your family and try to get to relative safety before the bombing began. The true horror had passed by the time I was young but the sirens still sounded once a month and we hid under our desks as part of the drill when the sirens sounded.
Loved Sabbath at 16 yrs old in the 70s....love it still
Polo knows. Black Sabbath’s mastery of genres was insane. The Warning is probably the best example of this.
Hi coming from England
I grew up listening to Black
Sabbath and most Rock
Music And now aged 65 I am still listening this Awesome music all the best 👍👍
U must see this live in Paris 1970..to get the real feeling of the drums...of everything
I love your quick message at the start of your presentations "be you, they'll adjust", that is both beautiful and powerful. Thank you for the reminder. God bless
Nice reaction, man. I'm glad that you do not know about it, but the horns you heard are the air raid horns. The drummer is legendary Bill Ward. Greetings from Croatia!
There is a live version of this song they did in Paris and Bill ward the drummer wears you out just watching him. A must see!
Love Black Sabbath especially War Pigs!
I love it when I hear you giggle at a song because it always means the same thing-mind seriously blown. ❤
Great reaction. This is the first album I ever purchased in my teens. I am 62 and I still listen to it. Incredible album.
Those were air raid sirens and you get it the drum breaks are between the acts of the song. So glad to see the appreciation still a strong as when I heard it first in 1971 .
I got to see Sabbath twice in concert... Nice to see you discover and appreciate them so many years later... Now your in the rabbit hole... Sabbath has a ton of good ones...but Symptom of the Universe is a killer song for Bill Ward drums
Check out Sabbath The Wizard. Heavy metal harmonica at its finest!
Hand of doom and Snowblind are lyrically and musically amazing
Hand of Doom is so underrated IMO
I left them to it hundreds of times and each time I followed either the drums or the guitar
Black Sabbath is timeless. I can tell you feel it.
You just won yourself a new fan and my deep respect. Ive been watching War Pigs reaction videos for almost years snd Ive seen reactors get all wrapped up in that video and totally miss the impact of the song. Drives me crazy that they put that video in there. Thank you!
You’re damn right. Reactors trying to glean meaning from the video drives me nuts. So glad Polo upfront knew it was fan-made and was already so into the music he admitted he was not paying attention to the images. 🤘🏼🎧🤟🏼
Masterful,true lyrics, outrageous music,❤️🎼🎶🎶🎵🎵
This was pretty much the world's introduction to heavy metal, a genre that didn't exist before this. Many minds were blown away to be sure. Also, the song lyrics have many biblical references, and that cadence you referred to is that of a preacher. This most certainly is a sermon.
Reminds me of the chant of a Judaic cantor.
This album is one of my favorites. 57 and still jamming out to Black Sabbath!
The legends... the OGs... Sabbath are the Run DMC of heavy metal. They took the genre into pop culture globally. Ozzy Osbourne is the man!
Haven't listen to this in YEARS! Forgot how good it was. It was kinda ubiquitous when I was in high school....people were always playing it. Especially the drummers in marching band, at the back of the bus. My brother was one of them.
The stank face really let's us know how much you are enjoying the song. Please don't stop
Great video! I'm always impressed that Sabbath recorded this album in practically one studio day. The precision of all the transitions is amazing. No cuts or editing, just straight live music in studio. Legendary
Excellent Reaction. Imagine being in high school during the turbulent times of the era. Then this hits the airwaves! We spent many an hour partying to this and a whole lot more.Bill Ward is a certified, bonafide, undenied masher. Two of my favorite Black sabbath songs are "The Wizard" and "Fairies Wear Boots" The Wizard features Ozzie playing harmonica. Fairies wear boots features a really cool recurring drum groove by Bill Ward. Enjoy! We have a million more paths for you to follow.
I love Black Sabbath from my youth, I never continued on with 80's heavy metal but this was special
In my opinion, Bill Ward doesn't get the recognition he deserves! He's a beast on that kit! He's easily in my top five of all time!
Amen. 🥁 Bill Ward’s f’kn incredible- check out “Andrew Rooney Drums” for drum teacher reaction and appreciation of Bill Ward, Bonzo, Yoyoka and many more. 🤘🏼🎧🤟🏼
The 'horns' are air raid sirens. Around here you can still hear them whenever there's a civil defence exercise. Hopefully I'll never have to hear them 'for real'...
