- This Stanley opener is from back in the '80s from what I looked up. We're gonna see if we can fix it. I quick lesson in troubleshooting. Also, you don't need to use the exact replacement parts for a quick fix (if it's your own project). I almost forgot to add this; The Regulator costs only $2.50 and the cross-reference part is an NTE981. Pretty cheap fix if you ask me. Beats going out to buy a new door opener for that price.
Thank you for this. Amazing diagnostic process!
I love old Stanley garage door openers like this. These are not just junk to me I would have fixed it!
Yeah, it was worth fixing since it was only a regulator. One less thing in the landfill.
Electronics Editor oh yeah! I’m glad you fixed it! I’m a garage door guy and you would be surprised at how many openers I managed to save!
Do you know if this opener has a "learn" button? I was hoping to see if I could use a myQ smart remote with my stanley garage door. They say their compatible but maybe mine's too old? It looks similar to yours and says model 1200
I did not see anything like that on this unit. It has dip switches to set the remote to the opener.
Tx for the troubleshoot had the same issue.. everything is back on track
Great video. Detailed presentation. I have just moved in to the house where one of these units is installed. Unfortunately circuit board has been removed. I would love to resurrect this old boy and could do with a replacement board. Could any one of you help please?
Stanley is better then chamberlain products including lift master and craftsman and genie products including overhead door
