Traded for an Avengers Infinity Quest a couple months ago that'd been used for a few years. First thing I did was upgrade the coil stops, and sure enough - that same bolt was snapped in half 😅
This is an ‘early distant warning’ (👀) on the horizon as I’ve got both those pins. 😬 Thanks for heads up! I’ll be checking now every time I lift the hood. 🙋♂️ (Since you mentioned Rush & gave a nice reply in a previous vid today, have you noticed the music clipping/cutting out in your Rush pin?? 😯 Mine is and it even has updated code. Is this a known issue or am I just lucky to catch a bad board?) THANK you!! 🙏 ✌️
Stern uses thread cutting screws on the flipper plates to save a machining step of threading the plates. It is essentially intentionally cross threading the screw as it cuts into the metal. They have stopped using the hex head screws and have gone to a cap head screw that seems much less prone to snapping off. I am not sure Stern cares enough about the coil stops or the EOS switches to do anything. They buy in such bulk that even if they did know about a problem, it will not be fixed until they have used up the defective stock. This goes for all sorts of things not just coil stops. Every Rush Premium and LE has a ticking time bomb in the wiring. They ordered thin rubber insulated wire for the harnesses. The zip ties used are cutting through the insulation and causing shorts on the time machine ramp motor driver boards. For Stern, every penny saved on a machine is profit. The do not seem to care about long term life of the product or many cases customer satisfaction. They are just about the only player in town.

I haven't had any music problems on my Rush.
@ Yes. UPDATE: My CPU was in fact bad. Stern sent me a replacement board and BOOM! 💥 Solid now. ✌️
Thanks, approx how many games have these machines seen when the problem tends to show up.
no way to know - Stern doesn't release production figures
Do you know which is the best metal or metal alloy to make a reliable coil stop?, thanks beforehand!

The majority of sterns I’ve played have some sort of problem with them but that could be the operators fault
They are barely adequate for home use let alone arcade use. Everything about them is cheap except for the price.
