I love your story! I am a lifelong Christian. But back in the late 1960s, with my church youth group, I attended an ecumenical series, that involved us going to 6 different churches, all of different Christian denominations. One of those was a Catholic youth group. Each week, we would begin at their church. And before we'd travel to another church, we'd have a brief service that included singing songs that the Catholic youth group sang. Though I'd been to church my entire life, and had been in junior and youth choirs, I'd never sung any of the hauntingly beautiful songs, they taught us. One was this song. It touched me deeply as well! I love that it touched you, a Hindu, as well! And unlike some here, I don't condemn your religion, or you for being a part of it. I feel God knew what he was doing when he had me be born where I would learn Christianity. And it was his plan that you be a Hindu. A few years after that ecumenical series, that made realize that though Christians believed and worshipped in many ways, the basis was the same, and then I took a comparative religions class. In that class, while learning about the beliefs and customs of the major religions of the world, I realized that at their core, all religions have a lot in common. And that following each of them, leads to one being a good person, with respect for our fellow human beings. And in the end that is the whole purpose of every religion, that we put others before ourselves, and judge noone. And I love that you and I, with very different backgrounds, were moved in the same way, by this song!!
This song spoke to my heart when God was preparing me for the mission field to build a church in another nation. I went with this song and it was truly manifested in my heart and life. God made the way where there seemed no way. My hands were empty but my heart was full and God supplied and a church was built. Amen. Praise be to God!

I remember singing this sing in school and it always made my faith stronger. Other students didn't know why I was Catholic, they always called me a suck up to the teachers but I didn't care.

I was once a choir member too in our community Catholic Chapel we always sang this during Sundays Holy week we can also sing this every day.accompanied by a guitar and the organ piano it really pleading to the ear we can feel the presence of God within us.

He would say these things to make you try harder so I got trained to sing in a big cathedral choir then went small town where fire had burnt 21 houses in one area & 11 funerals we had in 2 wks One day choir couldn't come so I was asked to sing this hymn solo & I prayed & asked Jesus to please help me sing with the voice of an angel & I sang best ever at strangers funeral So now I'm 83 writing plans for my funeral seeing I'm gtg older quick & this is one hymn I will request sung at my funeral I love it

My daughter died on 4/1/24! She planned her funeral so that we would not bear that pain. This is one of the songs she requested to be played. I cry every single time I hear this song. Her faith guided her to a much better place as this song indicates. It is going to take a long time to get over her passing. With God’s grace, I will get there!

I came here because I was prompted to look for Michael Talbot's songs... Thank you for this beautiful upload. My RCIA Chief Coordinator made a video of our Faith Journey and used this as background song. It was so good of her. Such an appropriate song that reflects my calling and longing to be baptised. And remembering that I had to wait longingly for two years due to pneumonia to start RCIA, and other challenges that will appear as you are journeying towards God. That is why we needed a lot of prayers.
