Recently found your channel and have been working my way through the content. Great stuff! I'm a 68 year old kayak fisherman "down" here in Minnesota. A fly in kayak trip would be bucket list material for this old guy. Cheers!
Which kayak did you get. I'm in MN, and I'm looking for something to get out there. My problem is I live in an apt with no garage, but got a 14ft deep storage unit for my toys, and I'm looking at the 10.5 native titanX but it's a spendy one. Been thinking of future proofing so I can eventually add a motor, but not really sure I'll need it. Just for sure need a pedal drive.
@SpregioCheeks Hi, I have a Lightning "Strike" It's made here in Mn. Look up Lightning Kayaks. Mine is 12.5 ft with pedal (fin) drive and I love it. Lots of storage, and pretty effortless to pedal. Kinda heavy (for me) so I trailer it. I've seen folks car top them though.Cheers!
Here in Wisconsin if you pussy foot your jig you will end up with a bucket of fertilizer aka sheepheads. I catch more walleyes when I’m aggressive with the retrieve, just floating it off bottom and jigging with a medium speed retrieve. Good video Jay!
Jay, I'd love for you to do a jogging for walleyes on a river system with a decent amount of current. I can't seem to find the middle ground of feeling the jig hit the bottom or having too heavy of jig where it hits and it doesn't sink slowly . I'm sure I don't have the right rod or line but it seems my jigs float down to fast jigging vertically.
Would this work in deeper(60-80 fow) water on big lakes like Erie? I'm not set up with the equipment to troll but would really like to try and catch some either jigging or drop-shotting
Walleye send tomorrow on a friend's new boat... Couple pointers and reminders never hurt anyone eh! Ha! Still waiting for that Saint-Lawrence in the Montreal area visit Jay!! 😜 Hope the baby and Sam are doing great, much love to you guys!! 💙
WOW that looks like the ultimate shore lunch! Can you please tell us about the fish finder you are using on your kayak? I am researching the best one to get within my budget.
Jay you should start a series of capturing under water footage of every (the mains ones at least) species eating lures underwater. Similar to the videos you see of pike and musky following a bait. Why doesn't this exist for bass, walleye, etc. It's hard to find good underwater footage. That's the because it's difficult, I know. Maybe some sort of go pro session fitted with some aerodynamic fins that sits un the line some ways. Just thinking out loud.
yellow braid is key. i like a longer fc leader than 3ft, i go for about 12-14 feet. it gives you some shock so its harder to snap off braid. J knot is good connection knot, easy to tie. Nice Jay
Jesus loves you abundantly, he is our savior, he said that he is the way the thruth and the light, come to Jesus, he will change you forever, he died for you, and will always be for you, not against you. ✝️🙏
i do 10ft of 6lb floro on 6lb braid. gives a bit more "shock absorption" than straight braid. and more than heavier floro. chemical sharpened hook, lol, yellow braid is bomb. this guy knows whats up. #trydropshotforwalleye lift hard with braid and keep pressure
If you completely flipped upside down in the middle of the lake. Could you get back in? And if so prove it. Would you lose gear? Or fish finder damage? Just curious.
I did a flip test one evening on this trip (without gear), flipped it 15 times or so. It was incredibly difficult to flip, you’d be much more likely to fall out before flipping the kayak. That being said, yup…you’d lose most of your gear if it wasn’t tethered somehow
That’s because he has access to the best equipment available and fishes these extremely remote locations or lakes that are just known for producing lots of fish. (LOTW) Not saying he doesn’t know what he’s doing because he definitely does but all that makes it so incredibly much easier to find and catch plenty of them

Try watching Tom Boley content, does a lot of Minnesota content on Leech Lake and the like, very informative

I feel attacked. Was just out kayak jigging for walleye for the first time and no luck
Your in the wrong spot bud
Awesome tips! What a beauty bunch of Walters you got. Editing 10/10 🎣

🤯 zombie walleye in Manitoba 🤯
Much love from Minnesota
Whaaaaatup
Another sick video! Nice lake! I also like making fishing videos and really enjoy your content! Keep it up! 🤝🤝

Appreciate the tips! My 11 year old is getting into fishing and I've realized we've done somethings wrong...like moving the jig constantly.
Sometimes going back to the basics helps for sure. Can’t wait to do a shore lunch soon.
I caught a 37in. musky while jiging for walleye with Straight braid
I literally was googling "how to jig for walleye in the summer" a day before this video came out! Thank you for making this!

Yes! I've been hoping for a return to more informative videos!
Tried this yesterday and it got me my first open water pickerel. I've been trying to figure out how to find them when there's no ice. Thanks.
Ice rod for kayak fishing is awesome. Try it!
Just got off the Cranberries in Manitoba up at Viking Lodge. Not moving the jig was very much a thing up there! Thanks for such amazing content, Jay.
I love every single video have for years thanks for everything Jay and Sam and crew
Love the videos as usual Jay!! But... Is it ice fishing season yet?!?!
Slow down there!!
Wanna see swimbaits fly straight ? Barrel swivel to fluoro.
Thankyou for that, I know Mb is barbless, very impressed you’re fishing barbless vs some so called pros
Great job I love your video
So…I sometimes feel guilty that I don’t set the hook right away, what do you think about just waiting a bit before setting the hook?
I needed this. I catch more Musky than I do Walleye.

Works the same way here in Scandinavia but the leader and line probably wont as you can bump into walleyes that are over30 lb here.

I’ve been using 6 lbs green Fireline for years with no leader. Doesn’t seem to bother the fish at all.
Thanks, my friend for all the gorgeous footage and dreamy fishing locations. Tight lines!
Awesome video! I’ve fished the Winnipeg river near Lac Du Bonnet. Loved it and hope to be back up someday.
If i got a medium fast rod is it good for jigging walleye

@@JaySiemens getting back in mid lake isn’t to hard?
Also. You gotta film that haha I want to see.
It was documented! It’ll be shared eventually. Not too difficult to get back into.
You can lose gear. Getting back in is easiest from either end, not the side.
Been there, done that.
hell ya thanks for the awsome tips jay cheers from rocky mountins alberta
Love the slapshot analogy! So Canadian. Lol from Minnesota
This is my second kayak of this model. It's a very nice and very well built kayak.
