Nah lamb components is much better quality then tbm. They dont even advertise but sell like crazy. You have probably never heard of them but have been around 50 years
@@Bodarnit Lots of different styles of drag racing. If you bracket race and stick to a bracket then that limits the ever increasing cost of chasing faster times for instance.
Love the new drag pack, looks sweet. Instead of replacing the factory springs with new springs, you should look into a coilover conversion, Atomic Fab and Performance makes some killer kits. I have the longish travel kit on my 01, huge upgrade over factory torsions and springs. Glad to see this thing finally getting closer and closer to making its way to the track and to hooking up on the street.
Taylor! Gotta check those fender heights. These gmt800s almost always sit over an inch lower on the drivers front. Id recommended a lean spacer on the one side with the new coils. Or look into atomic fab coilovers.
I've been waiting for the day to see wheels on this thing for so long. So happy to see it so much closer to being done. Slammed street trucks is what its my blood when i heard about the plans for this build i was so excited to see where you go with it. Defiantly one of my favorite youtubers I've learned so much watching since the old bmx wedisode days.
Right on. All of your vehicles and digs have come a long way. May I suggest putting your sweatshirt back logo on them there doors of your LS Street Truck. Subtle but tasteful.
Front sits perfect! I’d raise it about an inch or two in the rear to get the same tire to fender gap & gain a bit more clearance and it would be so dialed! Perfect wheel choice for the green!
The little green ripper has come a long way. So glad to see the progress over time of this build. Come to think of it the green truck has been around longer then any other build besides the Miata. #ognostalgia
Loving the build!!! Though I worry that the stock brakes are no longer adequate for the direction you're wanting for the truck. Especially now that you have some proper grip in the rear to get skootin'. Keep up the good work and enjoying the progress you've made!
You should build some track bars. They will help in so many ways. Stop the axle from twisting, keep the wheel hop down, really help with weight transfer to the rear wheels.
As someone who has had a very slammed Silverado and strived for drivable fitment. Stock control arms, 2” drop knuckles, and Belltech 1” drop springs for V8 is the best move for drive and feel.
Taylor, my dude.... I for one, will always be back. Your content is some of the most motivating and inspirational content in the motorsports arena. I started due to the Fummins and Miata and been watching ever since. Something I was thinking is maybe bring the ride height at the frame up a bit and lower the body to the bottom or near bottom of the frame rail. That'd probably too deep a rabbit hole for a street truck though. I do think you're going to need a set of stiffer springs and yeah, those pizza cutters could do with being a couple inches bigger. A four link properly set up would also drive the tires down, lifting the bed on acceleration instead of allowing it to squat. Just some observations. Great content as always brother, keep killin' it.
Saw them in the boxes in the background on yesterdays video and have been waiting, I built my turbo Silverado almost identical to your build when you started on yours, dw drop in fuel tank and everything and your videos helped me so much.
Don’t know if you know this, but if you cut with a grinding wheel on that dimpled edge in the middle rear wheel well, it’ll give you an extra 2-3 inches and you can tek screw pieces of metal to keep that form 🤘🏼 doesn’t warp the wheel wells and you can weld it back! Learned how to do this stuffing 37’s on stock blown out suspension lol
As a fun thing, when I worked for a tire shop back in the day, we had a tire sticker ball they made, of course I made decent effort in making it bigger. Im sure with as many tires you go through it wouldnt take long to get a decent sized ball going. Just a fun thought I wanted to share.
I had a 96 s10 4.3 5spd with a 4/6 drop with 17x9 in the front and 17x10.5 in the rear, loved that truck. it would scrape the Y pipe on the exhaust, you just learn to get used to it and figure out how to drive it without it scraping.
Love this truck so much. So happy to see more content on it! Wish these trucks survived in Midwest all of them are rotted. Was probably built right by me in Janesville.
That year Chevy with that style camber adjustment and Caster adjustment Once you adjust either, it throws the other off. So an alignment machine Would definitely be a big help because you have to get the sweet spot on both which you can. Most alignment shops don't take the time to do it because it takes a little bit more time than other alignments. But a good alignment guy can get it done, no problem. You can probably get the sweet spot without an alignment machine.
The secret is to leave it at ride height. Put the air Jack on it on the alignment machine. Leave both of the adjustments fingertight when adjust them swap back and fourth until you find the happy medium and you can get them both 0 or wherever they need to be don't take there lies its maxed out if so you can still get pretty close. I never had a problem with it.
Switch to QA1 in the future, they have coil overs for your truck. Adjust to what height you need. I cut my trans support down including side braces flush with frame. I’ve seen your welding it’s real easy. Let me know if you would like some picnics of how I did it. Recycle when you can. It’s the best way to do it.
had the same problem with my lsa/4l80 rcsb , also lowered 5/7, problem is air flow since the truck is so low to the ground and the diffuser almost touching ground allows no room for air to pass through the truck, simple fix was to cut holes in the lower diffuser for air flow and removing the stock plastic belly pan thing with 5 bolts holding it on. fixed all trans temp and coolant temps on my truck just one of those stupid things you wouldnt expect to be the issue unless you been there before
Man lot of people saying they dont balance much tires these days, especially slicks, But I had a lil 14" Rays wheels that i tossed some MT slicks on and first rip i went through the gears but soon as i let off the vibration was straight up violent, took to be balanced and was good after that, not having a balancing machine doesnt mean only junk wheels and tires need balancing lol
you may want to wrap the crossover or put some heat shielding on the bottom of the bellhousing, that could be heating up the transmission and converter because it is so close and wrapping around
Check the fittings on the cooler lines going into trans, I believe they have a special one that if it’s not correct will cause what you’re dealing with
Drag racing rule, You never peel stickers off your slicks/radials. you burn them off, it's a right of passage. You're new so we will let it slide this time haha.
The tru cool 40k worked really well for me never see trans temps over 160 mine is in the front atomic fab makes a fab makes a shroud for fans and Huron speed makes a bracket so it goes below the intercooler in front of the front bumper hole for airflow
I would recommend getting a set of bell tech shocks and springs. I run them on my 14 Silverado with a 4/6 drop. My buddy runs them in on his lowered c10 and the ride quality is great.
Atomic Fab makes that coilover kit with Viking adjustable shocks that will work with your DJM control arms set up so you could raise it up and have tune-ability. Then just a little taller tire on the front.
Dude, youre LS badges on the B pillar melted too?! Every one of my trucks with those badges have had them melt the last couple of summers. Glad to see I'm not the only one!
You seem like you are over complicating the ride height issue. Talking about rebuilding the trans mount now and what not. Just replace the worn springs and youll probably gain the height you need especially with that spacer in there already. Seems much simpler and just a better idea to replace worn parts.
What if you built an integrated custom intercooler inside the tailgate? Run the lines along the frame rails, come up through the inside of the bed near the tail lights, can still run fans and shroud so it can pull air at idle. The airflow from the top of the cab to the tailgate usually catches air anyways and would be a very ideal and efficient way of cooling and minimalize the crammed space upfront. Would look very different and aesthetically pleasing.
I have the same style wheels on my 1996 K1500 in a 20X11 with some 305/40ZR-20’s. Just need to build it with a turbo🤔. Yes, it is 4X4, with less than 4” of clearance from frame to ground. So much fun to throw around the race track.
i tired the spring spacer route with my 02 2 wheel drive and it rode really bad. so i ended up running stock springs with z71 knuckles they are about two inch lift with a stock ride.
Truck looks great. You are probably going to have wheel hop due to leaf spring wrap. A set of Caltracs or Speed Engineering traction bars will take care of that though. I have the Speed Engineering bars on my 04 and they are fantastic and much more budget froendly than Caltracs.
TAYLOR, I would personally love to see how you tackled building a smoker. I think your attention to detail would make it pretty stout. Also maybe some big motor jet boat content like Finnegen. You would slay at it.
Gonna blow that 10 bolt the first launch. Look into the tru cool 40k trans cooler. That’s what all us 99-06 Gm truck guys are running. Bolts right in up front with an install kit. Super nice. My trans doesn’t go over 120 in the summer.
There are "tucked" transmission mounts for these trucks that sit flush with the frame for sale online, but I'm sure you could modify the factory one pretty easily and get it up out of the way
A TBM brake upgrade would compliment those wheels nicely.

dirt nasty low. absolutely slammed on its nuts...i love it

Thank you, this is what I came to the comments for! 😂
Put the factory spindles on it if you used drop spindles. It gives you 2 more inches of droop travel as well .
It has stock spindles, djm uses control arms to drop it and utilize stock spindles
Love the Atmosphere while welding!
I love how Taylor does it all, drifting, hotrodding, American muscle, JDM and German, pretty much the perfect car channel
the audio work at 8:34 is phenomenal. I know how much work you put into your sound mixing.
