      He did some stuff wrong, so dont sub just because of this video. There are better guides. e.g. He just described it as 'soapy water', when it is quite important what type of soapy water you use. It is recommended you use baby shampoo not dish soap for example. Baby shampoo dries clear, many other soaps dont. Also depending on the film you use, other soaps can react with the adhesive in the film. I know he said this film didnt have any, but many do. It's also recommended to only wet the center of the window not the whole window as that can drag dirt out of the corners before you have the film in place. He also fitted it the wrong way around if you go by what is shown. I think (hope) he flipped it around off camera. There are quite a lot of things missing from this guide. I would recommend people watch a few others and dont only use this.

    WARNING! This is a very helpful video! And I was VERY happy with the outcome....but NOTE. at 7:58 he actually peels the backing off from the side facing him though he is clear just before that the side with the backing is the side that adheres to the glass. I repeat: The side with the backing on it is the side that adheres to the window after the backing is removed! I didn't notice his written addendum - I just followed the video and doing it as it appeared he did - peeling the backing off from the side facing him - and it was a really hard to get the bubbles out as it was a large glass door. I wrote the company to confirm the correct method (who has great customer service by the way) and I was able to remove it and reapply. SO MUCH EASIER!

      It's a little hard to tell, but if you watch closely, he pulls the backing down BETWEEN the film and the window. He installed it correctly.

    • @stephenvaldez328
      @stephenvaldez328 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It did appear at first that he pulled the clear protective film as facing him; However, after expanding the view, it was on the inside facing the window. It was done fast and only appeared to be facing him. So, he did it right and the protective side was facing the window.

      The comment i was looking for... im moving into a co-op and was thinking about doing this on my sunroom but I mainly wanted it for light refraction more than privacy. They want the building to still look uniform so no political signs/flags etc. Also I was looking at the rainbow one instead of the regular frosted film

    A, I love your intro. It reminds me of when someone knocks on my door and I stay perfectly still until they go away lol. B, I love your shirt. C, thank you for your video it is better.
    I made the cuts to my privacy film last night when I was tired because I just wanted to get it done which was a mistake. Fortunately I had cut enough overhang to straighten my cuts using my L square and chopping mat. I have a plastic piece that screws into the inside part of the window which looks like you have in the beginning of your video when you have everything out on the table showing the tools you will need. That helped with one of my pieces since I needed to cit 2 vertical pieces dur to the direction of the pattern.
    I am a new first time very ambitious home owner. A single girl who looks towards TH-cam for help with anything I need regarding small upgrades for now and fixing some minor thing like taring my flange on my roof to stop a leak and other small things. My neighbors think I was crazy using an 8’ ladder and hoisting myself up a few feet to get up there lol. Im a little nuts sometimes but I did it without falling off the roof so kudos for me lol. Sometimes I think WHAT WAS I THINKING BUYING A FIXER UPPER! But, it sure beats renting finally I have PRIVACY.
    I’m definitely subscribing to your channel and I appreciate the video. I will be checking out more of them soon. Now if only I had a garage or a shed so I could buy a miter saw and a chop saw for other projects after my kitchen remodel cleaned me out. I bought this small house cash so I wouldn’t have a mortgage. Hopefully I will be able to buy a shed come spring so I can get some upgrades done since the prior owner had the cheapest materials available 🤦‍♀️. Thanks a bunch. Keep on keepin on!

  • @MelanieJMurray2023
    @MelanieJMurray2023 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    This video is the most helpful one out there.
    Some additional pointers not covered:
    - if you’re installing a large piece (eg: a picture window) it’s best to have two people to install to help straighten and position.
    - if you have furry pets, I don’t know what to tell you. I cleaned the windows very throughly, but because the film uses static to adhere, the short walk from the table to the window still caught many air-bound bits of our dog’s fur that were then trapped between the film and the glass.
    - I wasn’t sure how opaque the film would be, but apart from light passing through, neither myself or my sharp-eyed, barky dogs see no movement. Definitely feels private and peaceful to sit next to the window in all different light levels.

      No problem, and it’s like a phone screen protector, that side has to be dust and dirt free to stay tacky so it can adhere better

    The side with the clear plastic should be against the glass, that's the side to wet and apply. Otherwise good info.

    • @vet99smit

      Nope 😭, you had it against the glass with frosted side , peeled off rest of clear coat and but it against the window , sprayed smooth side while against window already , should have sprayed the window and the smooth side and then placed smooth side against glass

    I wonder how long this stuff will stay on for, if it’s only held up by the water tension of what little water is left between the film and the glass.
    Presumably, in time, it will just drop off?

    • @AndreBhagwandat
      @AndreBhagwandat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Think about car tint it stays on for years with just water tension it has to do with the material I guess

    Just a drop of dish soap mixed with tap water.
    Also, you don’t need to spray both sides of the film - only the window & the side of film that you peel the clear backing off of.
    Funny Intro!!!!

      @AndreBhagwandat  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sonia Boustany So truee you don’t have to but it does help minimize scratches that the squeegee might leave if pressing it dry

    Any advice for how to get the edges to stay down? I have issues where there are no bubbles throughout the any of the decal except for the edges I try to squeeze you to the edge of them to push them out but the air just keeps going under and within a day the corner starts to fall.

      Try cutting it a little sMaller, sometimes the edges of the caulking can cause the film to not sit properly
