I think a lot of people like the warm feel of titanium. You can tell the difference between aluminum and titanium scales as soon as you pick the knife up. Aluminum is cold vs the relative neutral warm feel of titanium. Not to mention titanium durability. Steel liners are unneeded redundancy. BTW, being a detente diva, checkout the Shieldon Knives Relicanth. Great detente and very fidgety knife and very easy on the wallet. One of my favorite budget knives.
I really like this version too, It's definitely my favorite of any of the Original/Original XL models. Mine has the very slightest touch of side to side unless I tighten the pivot to a non-fidget friendly level of tightness, but no up and down whatsoever.
