You inspired me to grow cactus and succulents since i also live in Nevada. I have been watching your videos for the past week, genuinely informative for enthusiast like me. I came from the Philippines too and gardening is my passion. Its my ultimate therapy. I learned so much from your videos , thank you so much, you are well appreciated. God Bless
Hi Amy! Kapitbahay pala tayo. 🙂😉 Thank you so much for your kind words. Yes, gardening is very relaxing and rewarding, too. I’m happy you like my videos. Good luck with your cactus and succulents. Keep in touch! 😊🌵☕️
Great video Ana, very successful pollination. And seed pods forming on your Gymnos too 😱 As Edith said it’s getting them to flower at the same time that can be the tricky part, mine haven’t been cooperating when it comes to that lol. Thank you for sharing Ana, wonderful video 😊👍🏻🌵☀️🌺
I got lucky. 😉 This is the first time I got a seed pod from the peach one, too! Those gymnos give me seed pods every year. I have a lot as well as from my parodias. Would you be interested?
The fruits were big. Somebody told me I should have tried eating them as they were delicious. But I was more interested in the seeds. Lol! Thanks for stopping by! ☺️☕️
What a great video on pollinating and seed pods. ❤️❤️❤️. Every time I think I’ll get two diff cacti to flower at the same time the one dies before the other. I’ll keep hoping one day it’ll work out Great video Ana!!! 🌵❤️
That happens to me so many times, too. But what I hate most is when they open on the days when I work and I will completely miss the flowers. 😌 I hope you get many flowers on yours soon now that summer is here. 🙂🌸🌼🌵
Ana, WOW ! Thank you for such an informative video. You are well organized and to the point with great information. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us all!!
Watched this as just by chance 2 similar ( I can not identify my cacti so well) looking cacti are flowering at the same time , so thought I would have a go at X pollinating them, the flowers are almost identicl too. Thankyou.
Wow this is very interesting video Ana , very succesful pollination and wow for your new babies cacti , im learning from you i hope next time i can get some seeds from my cacti . Thank you again for this great video and cheers 👏👏👏
Thank you for watching Elvie. I feel blessed. Some flowers are easy to pollinate, some are by luck. But it will reward you with many seeds if you succeed. Happy gardening! Cheers! ☕️☕️
Very nice video, Anna! 👍👏 They're such beautiful plants and I like how you showed us how you pollinated and got seedlings. 😍👍👏👏 I went out to my secret garden yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see my melocact havingi pups around 2 of the mother plants. I guess the berries just dropped off and germinated themselves. But I'm extremely happy about this.
Really Molly?! You got melocactus seedlings growing without even trying? How lucky are you! I don’t have a melocactus yet. I am hesitant because they don’t like our freezing winter. But I really like how they look!
@@CactusCaffeine Yes, really Anna. I was so surprised when I was at my backyard yesterday to do some weeding.i thought they were weeds at first as they were quite dark and in clusters. Luckily I looked close and saw they were tiny babies. I'm thinking maybe I should do a video to show how cacti can even self germinate without human intervention like in the wild/desert. I think that the area in which I put them is also very condusive as well. I wish I could share my pups with you, Cacti Mania and Hank's cactus as all 3 of you mentioned about wishing to own one. I've a few big ones and now quite a number of babies. They're so easy to take care of too.
Yes, you should do a video! That is not common in cultivation. Save me a pup for when I go visit you for a personal tour of your garden! I would love some. 😁😉😉🤗
@@CactusCaffeine I'll save not 1 but a few! ☺️☺️ I might also show my Adenium seedlings growing all over my Fairy Garden. Remember the seed pods on my Adeniums. Well, they burst and flew all over and self germinated as well. That was maybe like 2 months ago and they've grown to about 1-2 in. I didn't bother catching the seeds as I have so many already but since they've grown on their own, I might as well gather them and put them into pots. So I'll do a video on these 2 self sprouting babies soon. 😀😀😀
I have another torch but he was a hybrid with silver spines and he had big orange fruits just like yours. And the seeds are so successful. I got millions of seeds from only 2 fruits
Thank you Lyn for leaving a very nice comment. It feels so rewarding to see them from bud to flower to fruit to seedlings! I hope I can successfully grow these seedlings so I can share my plants to my friends.😊🌵☕️
Thank you. I try to always show the outcomes in my videos (good or bad). 😉 It will take many YEARS to grow them. Hahaha. 🤪🙏🏼But I try to plant seeds of my own cactus just so I know which ones are easy to propagate through seed germination.😀
Great video. It looks like you cut off the blooms while you waited for the seed pod to age. At what point did you cut off the bloom? Also can a Torch be pollinated with another type of cactus? I only have one Torch.
Hola mi amigo! No, I did not try the fruit. They were full of seeds and did not look appealing to me.😄 Those Baileys chocolates though look muy delicioso. Hahaha. cactuscaffeine@gmail.com 😉
Wow! Thank you for an educational video. May I ask if I can actually pollinate ONE cactus with its two flowers? Or must it be a flower from a different cactus?
Some are self fertile, which means you can get a fruit by pollinating several flowers from the same cactus. But some needs 2 different plants. Some parodias are self fertile, as well as rebutia.
Hi Emily! The fruits are edible but I did not try them as they are full of seeds. They don’t look appetizing to me. Lol! 😁 Cheers from Las Vegas to Florida! ☕️☕️
Your cactus are beautiful and I only have one flower. I wonder if the type of bristle on the brush would make a difference too The seedlings that came from your bigger glandiflorous, did you just keep them in the ziplock bag for 6 months?
I keep my seedlings in a ziplock for about 3 months. As for the brush, I have not really experimented on different bristles. I usually just use any clean brush that I have on hand. 😉 Thank you for watching and good luck on your cactus! 🙂🌵☕️
Thanks for the video, appreciate for the time you took & combine them until the full release. But one request for assistance, can you make a video listing self fertile species and non self fertile species!? As I have been trying pollinating cactus but some species failed always until I came on the Internet after searching and I discovered that most cactus are not self fertile!!
Some cactus are self fertile so you can pollinate the flowers within one plant only. However I am not sure if the Peruvian Apple cactus is self-fertile. But you can try pollinating its flowers, you might get lucky. 🙂😉
I’m sorry but one more question. Will my seedlings grow in the winter? I grow my seedlings indoors only. I have a nice little grow light setup in my room. They’re doing great. Just wondering if babies go dormant.
Hi, i see you made a cross pollination between two cacti what if i only have one flower on a cactus will it form a seed pod if i pollinate it from its own pollen? And the cactus seedlings you kept it in a closed zip bag? How often do you water them? How long do you keep them in a closed zip bag? Regards.
I am not sure if this type of cactus is self fertile as I have not tried it. But some flowers will form a seed pod even from a single flower. I keep the seedlings in a zip lock for at least 3 months, during which I do not open nor water they at all. 🙂
@@CactusCaffeine thanks, i started cactus from seeds once they germinated and grew up for a while but they died i guess the reason was extra moisture.. i used to water mist them every day in the closed bag.. I'll try growing from seeds again using your method. Thanks again and have a nice day
I watched this again because I have been trying to pollinate my cacti. One issue I’m probably having is that I don’t have multiples of the same cactus. Which cacti can I cross pollinate? Also do you do seed swaps? I’d love some different seeds and I would trade for them. I do have seed pods on a new cactus I bought. I harvested and planted some already but there are more to harvest.
none of my cactus blooms have an open stigma. is there something Im not doing correctly to get them to open, so I can pollinate them? they bloom..and Ive watched them like a hawk...waiting for the stigma to open, it hasnt happened. :(
I love you have all the cycle in one video. I don't like when people show the pollination and then you see no results ... Great videos!
Thank you. I’m glad you like it. 🙂🌵☕️
Ang galing mo naman mabulaklak at nakapagpaseeds ka.thumbs up ako sa iyo
Salamat ate. Im blessed din with good weather last spring. 🙂
wow...how nice...so envious of you, you are able to cactus flowers bloom..tnx for sharing
I give Mother Nature more credit than me on the flowering. I live in a desert which is an environment they love. Salamat Mariza😉
This kind of harvesting is very exciting.
HugeBelle & Madi haha. It is! Except I cannot eat the fruits. 😄
Thanks for sharing knowledgeable and informative vedio
Thank you for the wonderful info that you are always giving us
😊🌵☕️ My pleasure. I learn from my viewers as well.
So many beautiful flowers 😊Really interesting video as always 😊🌵🌵thank you for sharing :)
I am lucky they all opened on the same days. Thank you for leaving a nice comment. Regards from Nevada to UK! ☕️☕️

love cactus.. so beautiful!
Salamat po! I love them, too. 😉😊 The hobby relaxes me.
Absolutely love your videos
Hello from Ken in Japan another great video
Your cacti blooms always blow me away! Great video on pollinating. It was so neat to watch. 🤩🐞🌵
Outstanding video. Your gymnocalyciums are gorgeous. I look forward to seeing how you clean the fruit to get the seeds out.
Lovely blooms, good job 😀
Thank you Fernanda! It has been a good blooming year. I’m very thankful. 😊🌵☕️

Absolutely I’m interested in any cacti seeds Ana, the Rebutia seeds I have for you are almost ready to harvest too 👍🏻
Such beautiful flowers! What nice pods your cross pollination produced! Well done! It’s amazing how many seeds are in one pod! 🌸🌸🌸😀🌵🌵🌵

Oh ya that’s no fun to miss their beautiful blooms. I sure wish they’d stay blooming for longer!!!
And thank you I hope to have more bloom for me :-)
Wow! 😍 This is so cool to see.👌❤️ You’re gonna have so many beautiful babies coming. I love the blooms too. Thank you for sharing.👌😍❤️😘
It is fun to do the process and see success on it. Hopefully the babies all survive until they are blooming size like their momma.

Molly, that is a good topic for a video. Seeds germinating on their own. Melocactus seeds and adenium seeds. Good luck with them! 🤞
Beautiful video Ana

can i put the pollen in the stigma from the same individual catus ?
Some cactus are self-pollinating like frailea and some Rebutia. So for those cactus, yes you can. 🙂
It looks like a dragon fruit cactus flower.
Hi, I just saw one of these at Home Depot. Do you eat the fruit? TFS

Me thinking I need to literally scoop up pollen off the ground and sprinkle it in the flower. 😶🌫️
