Thank you, I think it’s exactly what I need
Hello!
Thank you for the great video!
Is this is M16 or M20?
Can you tell me what temperature it can withstand?
I honestly have no idea. I got is so long ago that I can’t remember. Sorry
I like this better than the silicon gasket idea
Going to install this in my Weber Performer
Nicely done on babyback maniacs channel. Always enjoy your stuff, even when you are moonlighting on other channels. Keep up the great work!
I cut a little flap 1 1/2" sq. of 12 ga. metal, took cut off wheel and went 1/2 way up with a 4" cutoff wheel, little hinge and only the wires go into the cut outs. Very easy, flip it up, put the probes in and let it down, little hinge keeps it closed when your not using the probes. It's popped riveted on the smoker. Or if a hinge is to much, just one hole at 12 O'clock with a little 8/32 Machine screw will let if close perfect
Nice mod. I didn't realize these had a silicone ring inside. Stainless and silicone should last. If you were adding a port to a WSM would you do with this or the silicone grommet?
Sparky Thomas probably the silicone grommet. I installed one on my Smokey mountain and it’s functioned perfectly. Thanks for watching.
@@daveshouseofbbqThanks Dave. Picked up a used/older WSM and looking at options. I did the tamale pot/smokey joe build awhile back and did use the grommet.
Use this probe port if you don’t have a step bit for the grommet. I always like stainless vs silicone rubber especially the longevity you’ll get out of the metal vs rubber.
Cool video idea, good to know! Thanks Dave!

Thank you for your video….
You are so welcome!
I have a wsm. The hottest I’ll ever take it is 400 for a hot n fast brisket.
Which grommet do you recommend? One like this or the silicone one? I can cut the hole to fit either one.
I use the silicone weber grommet
Hi Dave!
Is your smoker 1/4” steel? Been looking for these ports on amazon but cant figure out which one to get and if they fit trough 1/4” steel. Im leaning towards the 3pcs uxcell PG13.5, but again would it fit my 1/4” steel? Do you know if they are the same as the one you got? Thx for great channel. Cheers from Sweden :)
I think it is 1/4 inch
Nice video, Dave!
Super helpful thanks!
You’re welcome. I’m about to install another one on my pellet grill.
Very informative.
Nice job!
Will this to fit a 5/16 thick smoker ?
Not 100% sure. My smoker is a1/4 inch.
This probe port will NOT fit a smoker with 1/4 inch thick steel unless you tap the hole and thread the port into the metal wall of the cook chamber. There is not enough thread protrusion for the gland nut to "catch" the threads of the port.
It worked on my smoker. It’s been on there for years. No issues.
@@daveshouseofbbq Yes, because you threaded it directly into the metal. Also, the metal of your cooker isn't as thick as the metal on mine. My comment is for those who have smokers with 1/4 inch thick steel to make sure they don't drill out the hole too large for the probe port to thread directly into the metal. The probe port threads do not protrude far enough into the cook chamber for the nut to catch the threads.
👍
Has this held up
Yup. In fact I’m about to do it again on my pellet smoker.
The link on Amazon states that this will not work on 1/4” steel which is what I have
Do they sell one that is designed for 1/4 steel?
@@daveshouseofbbq not that I have found
