  • In the current cardfight vanguard meta, there have been many discussions revolving around results that indicate the meta is diverse, many players have discussed whether or not this is a good thing. In this video, I will share my thoughts and opinions on whether or not a diverse meta is actually good for the trading card game, Cardfight!! Vanguard

    I think something interesting to put things into perspective is that g-guardians from all the way back in G-era were a very good addition to the game, as they provided both defensive value in being higher shield value, and accelerated the generation break clock, so that even if you were behind on striding (not having as many cards face-up in g-zone) by g-guarding you were defending and getting closer to your bigger kill-combo turns, which supported both defense and offense. Some g-guards by design are just insanely strong, like denial griffin which can kill some combos all on it's own, whereas others were just "big" defensive shield options at the time. All the way back in G-era these big guards were as much as 25k shield, but that was when triggers were 5k, and most rg attacks wouldn't rise much greater than say 21k. At least when g-guards were first introduced. Comparing just the power numbers, it's very strange to see how even after a couple of years into overdress era, there haven't been any decent defensive choices implemented, at least not defensive in comparison to offensive, because we have to compare cards if they're taking up the same space in the deck.

    Really hoping DivineZ introduces something like a D-Guard just as Vanguard G introduced G-Guards

      G guard exists to counter G unit. But in dress where they introduced persona ride, where's counter system those 10 buff whole turn? Let alone pure power buff from units before trigger check💀

    Pure Defensive card in the main deck are just bad, not because the card itself are bad.
    There are already not enough space in the deck, even with 4 more. Either make more good card with offense and defense(the not prefer one) OR card focus on defense outside the deck with some addition effects.
    I like your take, you far better than a lot of other TH-camrs who do Vanguard, who just keep saying the game is amazing

    The issue with standard is that its to reliant on drive checks and OT can shut down your game. Games last till turn 4 max 5. Defensive OT on turn 4 is almost like insta loose. D is format for cardgame noobs so they can get into vanguard and have fun. Its nowhere near being competetive, because its waaaay too random. Unlike premium where you got PLENTY of defensive options to deal with drive checks or some situations. You can damage deny you can hit rearguards where in D damage denying means pretty much nothing because decks do their full combo for like CB1 or no cost at all. Even having early heals means a lot more than in other formats because these are additional swings that you can take. They should implement some G Guards or something like that. Even V Heal Guards would be fine and stop with this powercreeping bullshit, because nobody would play vanila heals if they were not 15k shield while eff heals are 10k base while at the same time bushiroad doesnt have an issue with fronts being 15k +5k and draws being 5k+5k.

    I remember the nexus at night also talking about the issue of defensive mechanics
    I remember in the comment section suggesting Vanguard should just use of the trigger space for their unique defensive mechanics instead of slapping it on grades 123,
    Currently they only done generic 5K boosts, there is so much more design space for them. Not to mention it would help fix deck design and make adding triggers feel actually interesting increase diversity instead of players going “ do I run 8 crits 4 heals 4 fronts, or does my deck needs draws”.
    Basically I am advocating for g triggers design but Defensive

      That definitely is a better way to implement defensive mechanics than whatever they're doing now.

    here's a fix, a order that ends your opponent's battle phase after the third attack...like buddy block

    2nd reboot was a mistake. none problems are solved. just players dissapointment.
