- One of Disney World's fan-favorite restaurants is FINALLY open again and we were there on the first day! Molly is headed to Animal Kingdom Lodge to have not one, but TWO meals, at Boma: Flavors of Africa! This is one of the most beloved, yet underrated restaurants in all of Disney World AND it's the first buffet to reopen. Is it as good as we remember? What's the deal with buffets now? Are there still Zebra Domes? Molly will be answering it all in this latest food review!

Great review. Can we lose the crunchy sound effect when you eat? Not sure why that was added in this video but it's distracting and unnecessary.
Totally agree with you Molly about wishing they would scoop the food/ serve for you. I've seen people do nasty things at buffets and I just don't think having the public touch the utensils is a great idea.

Molly is my favorite on this channel and she did a great job with this one, and kudos to the editor that did a great job as well. Loved the plate food text labels and sarcastic comments. I strongly dislike buffets as well (used to be called Smorgasbords) when I saw a guy next to me stick his finger in the sauce of an entree and put it in his mouth to taste it. Ugh!! Never again.
Boma is just amazing.

I have also been to Africa and one of my favorite dishes was peanut butter cabbage. Our Zimbabwean guide made us some and explained that a lot of southeastern African dishes were cooked with peanuts or peanut butter because cooking oil was very scarce and expensive. I would love to see a dish like that and try the peanut rice at Boma!
This is great news as Boma is one of our favorites! We're staying at KV in December, so this will be added to our reservation list! Surprised they brought this back as a Buffet, but we're going to have to get back to the basics at some point. Thanks Molly and Happy Saturday from the Mouse Streeters!
Might I suggest getting a squirt or two of the sanitizer as you head back to your table? We have handled buffets like that, and it seems to work. :)

Had dinner at Boma back on August 23rd and it was just as phenomenal as I remembered. Hadn't been there (or inside AKL) in about 10 years and it certainly didn't disappoint!! Staying at AKL-Jambo House during my next WDW visit in May, and I already can't wait to have a meal at Boma again!
I always appreciate when you include a note about food allergies!
The "vanilla sauce" is simply vanilla pudding, thinned with some cream. ( chef secret 😉)

Boma is fantastic for food allergies. My son had multiple allergies when we were there in 2019, the chef was great, walked him through the buffet and made him feel comfortable, he ate a ton of food.

Can’t say how many times we’ve eaten there! Breakfast was a one-and-done. Dinner…at least 20-25 times!

Their Coconut Curry Chicken Stew is one of the best things I've ever eaten. I got the recipe for it and I make it on a regular basis. Love that stuff!

Boma is the best! Love everything about it. And totally agree on the bbq sauce. The coffee chocolate tart is phenomenal. I save room by going to get the domes at the mara and then eat the other desserts. The vanilla sauce is so amazing. I could drink it. I am so glad that boma and really akl is back open for everyone.
Missed opportunity for Gaston…fun fact #2 “and he’s roughly the size of a barge”. Favorite section -carbs 😂
If you don't want to handle the tongs and and serving utensils just wear disposable gloves then remove them before you eat. I have to do this because I can't use the hand sanitizer due to skin sensitivity.

Boma is one of our favorites! This is a big statement for my family because we generally hate buffets, and that was true even in the before times!

We got to stay at AKL for our last visit. Enjoyed BOMA for breakfast and dinner.
I had breakfast and dinner there in 2018. Coffee-press coffee is the best, especially after drinking that horrific coffee the Jambo House sells at The Mara.

It looks great but 2 kids and two adults would be $160. Wow 😳. I guess all the Disney restaurants are around there.
Yeah all the buffets @ Disney are super pricey. Personally, I'd do dinner at Boma over breakfast. The breakfast @ the Mara is delicious btw. Tips for buffets @ WDW. Kids under 3 eat free basically because they consider it off your plate. Only go during times of day your family gets extremely hungry in order to make the price tag worth it. Get your moneys worth by eating at a character dinning location so you are also meeting characters (2 birds 1 bill).
I feel like Boma has the most diverse menu for the restaurant type.

Do you need to have a ticket/reservation to animal kingdom to eat at Boma or is a Boma reservation enough?
If you go for breakfast you can go out and look at the animals

Zebra domes are the best things ever
Question please we are heading to Disney only for one day at the end of 5he month and would love to taste one of the zebra domes however most likely won’t be able to do Boma. I’ve never been a fan of smorgasbord or serve yourself. If I want picked through casseroles I can stay home and eat my leftovers. Cast members should be serving at the stations. Informative as usual.
Open Cape May breakfast buffet and BOG breakfast and I'll be happy. I've never been to Boma - buffet or otherwise, but wife and I truly love Cape May and I love BOG breakfast...

Is Boma actually in the AK park? Do wee need a park reservation that day to eat there? I think it'd be a great one for us as the kids can try some new and some familiar.

Boma only does breakfast and dinner so no option for eating off both buffets.

I think it would have made a difference (to me) if they provided the guests with disposable gloves to handle the tongs/spoons at the buffet. I have been seeing them do that here in MN at salad bars.
So your touching ride cue rails but not tongs? Ok. If you’re concerned about your health, I recommend passing on the sticky buns. But you like those.
Way too much waste. Sanitizer before and after. Or bathroom if you’re really worried.
