  • We were recently invited by ‪@TheSwiftGroup‬, the UK’s largest motorhome manufacturer, to tour and film their new Production Line 8. Join us this week as we learn how each brand new Swift Motorhome is created. Starting with a cab and naked chassis, we watch as each component is built, lifted and secured in place. What a fascinating day, it's the ultimate van build!

    Our family have been roaming around the UK, Europe and US since 2007. We set off on each trip with only a rough destination in mind, allowing the roads we take and places we stop to evolve as we meet new friends along the way.
    If you have found us and enjoy our stories or have tips and recommendations then please get in touch as we'd love to hear from you.

    Thanks for sharing, just love watching ‘vans being assembled. Great way to keep costs to an absolute minimum with JIT 😮 Placing costs on the supplying companies. Love that they make their own GRP in house though - cool 😎. Thanks again. Andy.

    Always check you caravan or motor home on collection day thoroughly for missing broken parts. Badly placed out wiring under the caravan especially near the corner legs where the handle is inserted for raising and lowering the legs. This is a common issue on most caravans. Missing trim is also common as well as cushion stitching faults.

    Anyone else surprised at how no insulation was added? Are the side already insulated? Or am I missing something?

    • @RoamingRadfords
      @RoamingRadfords  ปีที่แล้ว

      The sides are insulated as they are being fabricated.

    Be good to see Panel Van (Camper Van) production. Some facts/figures would also be interesting, regarding most sold by Swift... Caravans, Camper Vans, Motorhomes, Static Homes (Including Model data); though doubt Swift will want to share this data on TH-cam.

    Will never buy Swift again
    We haven’t even used our brand new Swift conqueror 480, the 2 way fridge door completely fell off onto my wife, Dometic were very quick at replacing the faulty top metal plate that holds the door in place. We have found quite a few loose screw, through out the van, some just keep turning 😩
    Wires exposed and not hidden away of fixed correctly, thats poor quality control.
    Panel a round the window, had come away from its fixings, due to fixing screws fallen out.
    im sure we will have more to add to our list, once we have been away on our first trip 😉
    This is our first Swift, after moving back from Motorhomes
    Not worth the £32,500 we paid for it, Sorry Swift, but you have let us down at the start 👍
    PS. I hope Swift are at the show in October?
    Great video BTW 😃

      On that production line we build 3 kon tiki per day each stage has around 2.5 hours build time I work on that line at swift and there is a lot more to building a motorhome then shown in the video but still a great bit of content from the Radfords.Im the guy lifting the front pod shell in the video 😂

    Can I ask why you have a doorbell on your motorhome ? Seems an unusual upgrade to have. Have you also considered doing a video on the tech you use in the van, ie tv setup, internet etc etc… I’ll keep looking in your back catalog but couldn’t find anything… your European trip is really helping us currently planning a trip for September - so keep up the great work 👍

      Enjoy your trip away in September 👍

    • @brihilton5795
      @brihilton5795 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      On that production line each stage of production takes around 2.5 hour's so in theory each van takes 2.5 hour's from chassis to testing.
      I know this because im the guy in the video lifting the front pod shell

    • @ClockDesignCo
      @ClockDesignCo 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      2.5h from production to test? Do you mean 2.5 days? Don't know if you made a typo there? But the single stage time is the same in your reply 👍👍

    Brian, ditto, Radfords please do not become stooges for Swift, their build quality is terrible, if their PDP is so good why are the dealers having to fix everything? I’m on my second one at it’s back with the dealer again, please just make your usual great videos and stop plugging a company that doesn’t care about its customers.

      @@RoamingRadfords I did enjoy your video as I do will all your videos, I am just disappointed being a fellow owner and knowing the problems I’ve had with both my Swifts that they are far from perfect and the fact you emphasised quality assurance which certainly is not being carried out, please keep up the great work but don’t paint Swift to be a customer focused brand when they are almost uncontactable by their customers regarding poor build quality and ongoing faults.
