    It's just simple, Nigeria is fully loaded with different wonders. Nigeria The most populated country in Africa, with greatest diversity, and the only country in Africa continent with largest ethnic group. In a book(ethnography of Nigeria), it reveals that Nigeria is made up of different nation, coming together to make a country. Which resulted to the amalgamation of northern and southern protectorate in the year 1914, by Lord lugard. Try and visit Nigeria, and you will see those amazing things for yourself. Different people with different culture living together as a family in a country called Nigeria. You guys even look like Nigerians

Alot of European settled here because of the climate in the region, waterfalls protected parks with endangered calabar gorillas. Beautiful and peaceful people and very welcoming, Lots to do and see, very little Is known about the region. It is Nigeria's best kept secret, Went to hillside elementary and my principal was white and she took a liking to me, always had treats for me at her office so I went every day 😊 Fun times and memories of a lifetime.

    Calabar could actually be a parallel to Accra year of the return, where people can visit Nigeria (AND Ghana). Calabar has unfortunately some historical legacy around the theft of our people from Africa and some interesting colonial references (Lugard... eww, mary slessor) and of course native indigenous draws. It is also unanimously agreed the cleanest and most hospitable of all our regions! For what it is worth a lot of Nigeria's cooks and hospitality aides come from that region. No other region has conflict with them. Facts.

    Calabar, located in present-day Nigeria, was one of the major ports used during the transatlantic slave trade. Enslaved Africans from the region were indeed shipped to various destinations across the Americas, including Brazil and the caribbean. The port of Calabar was significant in the slave trade due to its location and the large volume of enslaved people transported from there to the Americas. hence the similar culture we connected. we pay rent yearly in Nigeria or u build your own house no such thing as a mortgage. meaning we have time. is like see new orleans reflection in this clips.

    They are copying the Caribbean and Jamaican culture, they mixed some of the Caribbean and Jamaican culture with theirs, check out their carnivals, that's not an African cultural tradition it's called appropriating the Caribbean and Jamaican culture with their own.

    • @tundebakare6887
      @tundebakare6887 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Don't forget that most Jamaican descended from Africa and it is the Caribbeans that are duplicating the African culture from West Africa. The fact there is a place called calabar town in Jamaica 🇯🇲 and the town has a high school. And don't forget voodoo which is still practiced in the south American and the Caribbean was brought by enslaved west African to their new dwelling places

    • @sylviasworld9397
      @sylviasworld9397 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Aborigine one. You are right in the influence. The Calabar carnival was modelled after the Trinidadian carnival, and if my memory serves me correctly, was actually created with the input of the organisers of the carnivals in the Caribbean, they were part of the advisory committee in the beginning. Even all the bands, they are the Calabar Carnival 'versions' of the bands already in existence in the Caribbean, of the exact same names. Anyone who has been to the Notting hill Carnival in London, would already know those band names, from the floats that come over from Trinidad and Tobago.
      The influence...Is with the blessing of those Caribbean advisors, whose input helped in the creation of the Calabar carnival. They deserve their congrats also, imho.

    • @Chigo-nr8jg
      @Chigo-nr8jg ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Obviously, they brought in people from the Caribbean’s and it was modeled after that. It was made mainly for tourism. And let’s be serious, you can’t really appropriate a carnivals 😂. You showcase your culture in your respective carnival or show a theme. Y’all be taking this appropriation thing too far. Almost all South American countries have carnivals, most cities in North America have carnivals, there’re carnivals in Europe, there’re carnivals in Asia. Cultures and traditions are appropriated not damn carnivals.

    'they all go back to their respective...' he was referring to the Christmas Village, which is put together for the carnival period. After the carnival end, so does the Christmas village, till it opens again at the next carnival. So, for all the vendors, it's a temporary, carnival village.

    Just save and go this December. I have never been and I am Nigerian and going to the Zurich Festival in July so looking for something for December - I do not know anyone there and just might leave the cold weather of London and go to Nigeria for this. Maybe I can convince some of my friends to go too.

    😃🤗 Yeah ! I saw this video earlier this year and knew about this festival sometime ago. I can't wait to get to Calabar and see this one year. Also what's known as so-called Carnival is Afrikan in origin but had been corrupted some here in the USA, Caribbean and South America i.e. Brazil due to the influence of Europeans. I like how the one in Calabar looks it's more tradition to the roots of how the Afrikan festival suppose to look and be.

    okay so for reference, so that you understand the costumes. the carnival is divided into elements, so you have earth, fire, water and air. The carnival is actually a competition between the elements and each element actually has Nigerian celebrities who endorse them and actually participate in the event. The blogger is only showing the street walk but the carnival heads to the stadium where the different elements puts on shows for the audience and we vote. it is crazy fun, like they pull up all the stunts.
