Wait, what??? Tennessee was highly ranked and expected to steamroll UCLA., it was an “upset” that they stayed close. The upset win for Tennessee at UCLA was in 1989, when Reggie Cobb and Chuck Webb steamrolled the Bruins.
Me and my friends drove down from the Bay Area to check out this game and then head over to Florida State at USC. 1st Half was a blowout and we made the decision to get out of Pasadena and head to the LA Coliseum. Wish we stayed for this game since it got close. Glad there are highlights to this game. Plus it was interesting that UCLA started 0-2 then go 10-0 for the season. Then the next year start 10-0 then lose the last 2 games. 0-2/20-0/0-2. P.S. This wasn't an upset
Man, Cade McNown with all the GREAT plays he made in the 1996 to 1998 period for the Bruins, had some boneheaded plays in that period too such as 1:46-1:48. Shouldn't have EVER thrown that ball. UCLA may have beaten the Vols if that play never happened.
Actually, in betting parlance, an upset is when an underdog (especially a heavy underdog) beats a favorite. The underdog can be ranked higher or lower than the favorite.
The title is a bit misleading. UCLA was unranked when they played this game. However, at the end of the season, they were ranked #5 in the Coaches and AP polls.

I am not exactly sure how this was an upset. Tennessee were #3 and UCLA was standing for “Unranked College, Los Angeles.”

In 2011, Georgia lost their first two and last two games (SEC championship and their bowl game). They won the ten in between.

Did you confuse this game with the 89 game where we did upset a highly ranked UCLA team.
They were ranked no. 5 but we were no.3 so it's still not an upset.
If they would have listened to him as a Freshman, they would have won that game too.
