At 12:20 Bono says : "Leave these people be ! It's a rock'n'roll concert, this is not cabaret. And the fun is just began ! I want a security person up here on stage just to tell these people it's ok ! There will be no trouble, nothing broken, you have nothen to fear !"
My wife & I were there! Married in 1984. Lived in Alexandria, VA at the time. 2 friends from our hometown of Lebanon, PA joined us! First of about 1/2 doz. times seeing U2 live. Great memories!
Thanks for posting. I was at this show, ten feet from the stage, right in the center. We were completely packed together. I could pick my feet up off the floor without sliding down at all. It was thrilling and terrifying. One woman next to me was screaming that her arm was broken and demanded that security get her out of there. The security guys came and said that they couldn't do anything, but eventually they got her out. I considered following but stayed. Two girls I knew got onstage and hugged Bono and were taken away. A guy from the crowd was brought onstage to play guitar on Knockin' on Heaven's Door but he couldn't play anything and just threw his arms in the air. After the show I tried talking to the people next to me but we were all completely deaf and just screamed at each other without hearing anything. Anyway, it's wild to hear this again.
Thanks for sharing. Incredible. I'll never forget this concert. Saw them on first leg of UF Tour at DAR Constitution Hall in DC on Bono's birthday. My friend dragged me there, I'm like I don't want to go see some Irish band. I left there and was hooked for life. Stood in line to get tickets for this concert, I don't think they planned a second leg but they exploded on this tour, headlining big arenas. This song was incredible, it seemed like everyone was in the isles, even from the upper bowl at Cap Center. It was nuts!
Tailhook MD I wasn't aware of that until just a couple of days ago and I researched the tour because I had thought it was the first time in North America but I was wrong but I was definitely surprised to see that they started that tour at DAR Constitution Hall and ended up at the capital Centre at the end
