He accepted his mistakes as well in this podcast. He was a star player and every top athlete goes through tough phases in their career. However, facing bad form doesn't mean a player cannot make a comeback. Being a key player, Rahul also knew the responsibility to represent his team and restore his performance. When Rahul was sold to Puneri Paltan for only 40 lakhs, he realized he had to take accountability for his situation and was eager to make a comeback. Unfortunately, the coach did not support him. Rahul was capable of scoring 13 points in a single match, yet during that season, he managed to score only 13 points in total and the whole season. This decline was largely due to Anup Kumar, who showed little intention to utilize Rahul despite his good fitness. This lack of opportunity was a significant reason Rahul lost the recognition he had in his earlier seasons. If a star player isn’t performing at their best, it is the coach’s responsibility to support them, provide opportunities, and help them regain their form. Only because of season 8, Rahul completely lost his form and fame. He was first unsold in the first session of PKL 9 auction, and later sold to Jaipur for only 10 lakhs. The main conclusion is that if he had been given enough chances to perform in season 8, he could have ended his career on a high note.
