      I recall the legendary Hall of Famer Frank Robinson saying, "Brooks was the greatest defensive player at any position". That's good enough for me!

    I met Brooks at the Dugout Zone a couple of years ago.He was everything I had ever heard about him.One fine gentleman.I have idolized him since I was 7 and told him that my favorite player never played for Boston,he played for the Baltimore Orioles.Dad used to let me pick the games and I only picked the twinite doubleheaders with Baltimore so, I could see him play twice.My goodness,that was 50 years ago.BROOKS is a living legend and forever my HERO.He is one HUMBLE GENTLEMAN and a TRIBUTE to the game of BASEBALL.

    Brooks Robinson was Mr. Oriole for 23 seasons (1955-77). Very classy man. Played an amazing 2,871 games at third base. Played
    on some great Oriole teams that won or at least competed
    for the AL pennant. Came up as a second baseman, but Paul
    Richards felt he'd be better suited for the hot corner. Won
    16 Golden Gloves, tying former pitcher Jim Kaat, for most
    at one position. Made 18 consecutive All-Star Games. Despite
    .267 batting average, had excellent offensive numbers with 2,848
    hits and 268 career homers. Member of the Hall of Fame.

    A man who epitomized class and grace, on and off the field! And, oh yeah,the greatest defensive third baseman to ever play the hot corner. Sixteen consecutive gold gloves for a position player, most in mlb history. Enough said.

    I grew up 35 miles from Baltimore and I used to watch Brooks play 3rd. I became a 3rd baseman because of him.
    The best to put it is...
    What Mickey Mantle was to kids in New York, Brooks Robinson was to us kids growing up in Maryland in the 50's and 60's.
    He was the greatest!

      Not just Maryland David, a lot of us including me in Ohio hung on every play Brooks made. Viva La Brooksie, the best the game ever had to offer.

    Brooks Robinson made the extremely difficult plays look routine. We were spoiled on phenominal defense.

      Cudda been an All Star MVP interview
      Or
      Cudda been a phenomenal game 1 in rhe 70 World Serious
      He told the interviewer when responding to his great defensive performance, "It was pure luck."
      Announcer, "Pure luck?!", voiced in astonishment.
      Robinson, "Yeah, a lot of those balls cudda been hit straight at me instead of my having to stretch and dive to glive 'em"

    Nobody, NOBODY was better at the barehanded pickup of a dribbler or a bunt than Brooks. Nice guy too. Saw an O’s game as a boy and Brooks got his thumb broken by an errant pitch. He was jumping/dancing around in pain and my Mom thought he was a Sarah Bernhardt.

      @ The Gaming Kitchen couldn’t agree more! Without disrespect to Manny’s ability it seems from a distance that these two are polar opposites. Manny appears to be about Manny. Brooks was/is all about The O’s. Only my opinion and I could very well be wrong.

    Brooks is ten times more of a man by accident than Manny will ever be on purpose. Can't believe these two are spoken in the same sentence. Dislike because of how insulting it is to Brooks to have Manny playing his position.

    • @markj3306
      @markj3306 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Just Me what? Why is that even close to insulting? Manny is a key aspect to this team much like brooks was back in the day. Brooks is a legend. Manny is a legend in the making

    • @randomtraveler9854
      @randomtraveler9854 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because of Manny's on field behavior, Brooks never engaged in such actions. Who cares if he has talent if he ruins the reputation of the team. I'm a third generation Oriole fan and studied the history of the team and never have they been involved in such actions.

    • @markj3306
      @markj3306 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just Me If you've watched him at all this year, he's really matured. Last year or two years ago he probably would've gotten in a fight with the whole Red Sox thing. He kept his cool and showed that he matured. Baseballs changing. There's gonna be fights

    • @randomtraveler9854
      @randomtraveler9854 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did he mature when he cussed 22 times to the press after being thrown behind? Players get thrown at and I agree the Red Sox were in the wrong but there isn't any excuse to cuss like that.

    • @TheOsfania
      @TheOsfania 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Just Me. Fck you. How's that? Scientific studies have shown that people who swear are, on average, far more intelligent than those who don't. You can look it up.
