    Great message at the end. I've been fishing from my yak since 2012 and I love every trip even when I get skunked. Finding your own spots and fish are the most rewarding aspect of fishing!

    Nice Job Jonny! I appreciate the honesty at the end. Any day on the water beats a day at work! This vid brought me back. I went to school right there yet never knew about the fishery then like I do now. I had great fishing right behind my dorm but college is full of distractions and I never got around to trying. 8 years later and I'm back in NH my home state. Last year I did tow my boat to Newport for the first time in August and did really well with stripers and blues. I hope the state opens back up so I can go down again. I always like exploring and trying new spots on the water. Keep it up and tight lines this season!

      Thanks man, yea RI is a great place to fish and live, I was goofing off in college too and not really fishing much so it's a lot of fun to hit it hard now. Fingers crossed the state opens up too good luck this year

    It's been years since I've been fishing or spearfishing for blackfish as I moved south and out of their range. Blackfish sure are tasty critters. The bottom sweeper jigs you are using are good for producing fish, I'm surprised that you didn't get any Sheepshead in with the blackfish. It was nice watching you catch some fish as it brought some memories back to me.
    As you pointed out, and it's good practice to always check your line for abrasions as that is where your line will break every time.
    Something that I've learned is to set the drag with a scale to 30% of the lines breaking strength. 3 pounds of drag for every 10 pounds of test because drag increases as the line gets closer to the bottom of the spool.
    Tight lines.

    • @Fish-RI
      @Fish-RI  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks man, I don't think we get sheepshead in RI, or at least that I know of. I'm becoming a big fan of these tog jigs they work well, good luck with the fishing down south!
