Thanks so much, I just came back from a store where they told me I was nuts to do such a thing.
I got an MSI GX700 Megabook, disassembled almost everything cos the GF 8600M GT Card was the last thing u could reach ( who the hell thought about that....).
Baker mode: 10min at 180°C, thermal paste after on GPU and CPU, reassemble and a sweat after, everything back to normal. Just saved me several hundred bucks ( the merchant was saying me to throw my laptop to the bin, well u can go to hell buddy....)
I repaired a video-card like this the same way except. I created four traffic cone looking mounts to let the video card sit on which was recommended in the tutorial I read. And I baked at 200c for 8 mins. Then I allowed it to cool for 30 mins before putting it back in the laptop. It works still and it's been 2weeks and counting.
Worked for me too, thanks. Had Geforce 8400M in Acer Aspire 7520G, kept in oven 8,5 minutes at 200°C (heated oven before putting in). Worked now continuously 20 hours without problems.
I did it and it worked ... i bake my Geforce 8600 GTS which was completely dead for over 2 months, after 15 mins in the oven , it worked ...... I have never been this happy .... thanx a lot guys
Brilliant! 10 mins at 180 degrees Celcius fixed the 8600GM videocard which came with my Acer 5920. It did run fine for 3 months after which the trouble came back. Fixed it another time and it's running fine. It gave a good laugh when I asked to cook my videocard in a restaurant when I was on vacation... Thanks for this video which saved me lots of money..
I can't believe it! I had a black screen with the Acer Aspire 5920G, I've just baked it in the oven and now it works!!! Thanks a lot!
same card, from an Acer Aspire 9920G, "died" 6 months ago after working 2 years
was saved tonight after being baked 10 minutes at 200°C, thanks to the technic in this video
thank you so much guys, don't know how long it'll hold but watching the screen of my laptop lightening up after baking the graphics card was a crazy moment
I've just done oven trick and it really works for now :)
yes, Acer Aspire 9920 is working, THX for you manual
Nice Idea it really works and rescued my 5920G!!!!
I just burned my hands when I was taking it out of the Oven :D
Thanks Man!
Have just done the trick (with success) for the second time, the first was just about 6 month ago, it was hot on the day it failed, so I assume the longevity will depend greatly on cooling. I am the lucky owner of an Acer 5920G so taking out the circuit board is very easy. Any recommendations on how to keep the grafics card cool anyone?
Just resurrected mine today :). 8 minutes at 375ºF (~187ºC).
It actually runs cooler now. I removed the thermal "pads" and replaced them with new thermal compound.
I have an Acer 5920g, looks like you have a similar model.
Nice idea! My old Macbook Pro lives!
I did it and it worked ...
I wish you a day will win all the money you saved for us.thank you so much.
Worked with my vaio notebook motherboard (nvidia onboard card) as well 7 mins @ 200 degrees
It does really work, amazing :)
@rolibiker its a mxm type II card the laptop is a Acer 5920G i have the same model/problem :P
Why am I not surprised it looks like a 5920G. I'm going to try it tonight and see if it fixes it!
It worked! My 5920 lives!
Worked for me too! 10 min and my 8600m Gt live again. But i think not for long. I will buy a new card for safety's sake
I did it!!! 20min at 200c and works fine
I had a Thinkpad T40 mobo that had the Radeon video problem. Put it in the oven for 9.5 minutes @ 350 degrees..waited 20 mins for cooldown.. hooked it up, and it worked! Of course the other two Thinkpad motherboards i stuck in the oven decided to be pieces of shit and still not work, so its just a matter of luck..
@Skire90 50 euros for a 3470?! Isn't that way too steep for how old that card is? o.O
Worked for me aswell - gave it 7 min at 200 degrees. I hope it will last. :)
XBox : first- 190c for 10min after 10 min on temp.of 225c for 5min =D
But it was only 8 mins...
@whezgyba no i hawe got a new one after 14 days .
I have a msi gx700 with nvidia geforce 8600m and it died in december '12. I am afraid of putting the video card in the oven. I am afraid because i think that the oven could break the card or the card might affect somehow the oven. Anyway, if i put the card into the oven, what should i put under the card or should i wrep the card into something? Pleaaaaase help i.m desperate and i need my laptop.
did it fix it permanently? i would like to purchase a new chipset but wonder if it will be tough to install.. anyone know?
@shaksini is that GPU working right now ? I have the same problem now.

hi...what song is that..ca u giv name that song plz
This trick fixed my "bricked" Acer Aspire 5920G as well. Like magic. I set the oven to 200' C and put the GPU on a fireproof tray that I put inside the oven as it heated up. After 3 min., the oven reached the desired temperature. 7 minutes later, I took the stuff out and let it air cool. After reassembling the laptop, it booted perfectly again. Incredible!
