This man wore number 33 and scored four touchdowns in a single game for Polk High during the 1966 championship game, not to mention he scored the game winning touchdown in the final seconds against “Spare tire” Dixon. Show respect for the Legendary Al Bundy (Ed O’Neal).
Don't let this distract you from the the fact that in 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, "Spare Tire" Dixon.
@@hectorlopez1069less than 2% of CFB players ever even make it to the NFL, and not to mention he was competing with two other rookies, L.C. Greenwood oh and some other guy named Joe Greene.
Gotta say, definitely shoulda used "Al Bundy" instead of "grandpa from modern family" - it's not like Ed O'Neil is some unknown entity. I know Married With Children likely predates the younger end of the Ringer's target audience, but c'mon now!
I made this comment like 2 minutes into the video. This became way worse with every passing "grandpa from modern family" mention. WOOF it's bad. "Coach Al Bundy" or "Coach Grandpa from Modern family" ??? Which one rolls off the tongue better and is a better pop-culture reference flex? AL BUNDY. Who let this one slide at The Ringer?!?!
Just watched this video and immediately thought the same thing... I’m glad I’m not the only one that cringed when I heard that- Al Bundy is his most iconic role.
The greatest trick play in this video is calling Ed O'Neill "The Grandpa from Modern Family" to distract us all from the fact that Sherman spent more than 4 minutes breaking down a well-named-but-otherwise-not-so-interesting fumblerooski.
It's really is amazing what foresight Little Giants has. They could've picked any other team, but picked the one team who are always shit but somehow luck their way to victory.
How fucking dare you say the grandfather from modern family. You know this man scored 4 touchdowns in 1966 with the last touchdown winning the game? Bundy was the truth.
In high school we ran the "wrap around draw", the HB would just stand there with their hand behind their back and the qb would place the ball in their hand, the defenders would run passed the HB giving them a lane to run up. Honestly it worked really well.
Some say the grandpa from Modern Family is Red Grange. The truth is infinitely more inspiring: This guy's name is Al Bundy. His authority stems from the fact that he scored 4 touchdowns in one game playing for Polk High School. Yeah. You had to hear that.
Who are you to criticize a great shoe salesman like Al Bundy! He once scored four touchdowns for Polk High in a single game. And took on Ed Too Tall Jones in a Grudge match. And built Gods shoes! He's the freaking founder of NO MA'AM!
Good video. The "grandpa from Modern Family" reference gets old really quick. Just use Ed O'Neal's name. You used Rick Moranis instead of referring to him as the keymaster from Ghostbusters or the guy who shrunk his kids.
When this movie came out we wanted smoke with the Cowboys. I was QB, my neighbor RB and behind us lived our Fullback. Not only did we go undefeated, no one scored on us. We made up plays on the fly, switched positions and all out blitzed. Sadly none of the kids on that team even made it to highschool besides me.
The Grandpa from Modern Family? That’s the best you could come up with? One or two times, I get it, but the fifth and sixth time you said it, it was like, “Dude, that’s Al Bundy” chill
When I was in peewee football a couple of decades ago, we used the fumbleroski only twice in the four years I played. It's unbelievably risky (especially if you're on the 1 yard line like Little Giants). It was in cases where you absolutely needed at least two yards. It was usually a quick sudden decision on the coaches part and you had to go about the play as normal. In our case, the center kept the ball and the guards were the only blockers available. It'd happen fast. Other than the tackles, nose guard (if you used one) and the linebackers would have seen what happened. It wouldn't work in the NFL. To fast and they're far more experienced. As I said, it was risky and dangerous.
Actually aggressively defendeing the LoS in Pop Warner is a good idea, especially since the game was tied at 21. Theres a higher probability of a negative play for a safety, than there is for a 99 yard TD.
The scored was tied 21-21 right? So crowding the line of scrimmage wasn’t a bad call on defense cause a safety could have won it and if this scenario real probably would have lol
The video says that one should never throw the football over one's head, and of course, usually that is true. However, the Arkansas Razorbacks, behind by a touchdown and facing 4th-and-25 in overtime against Ole Miss, completed a short pass nowhere near the line to gain to a receiver who was immediately stopped--before going to the ground (which would have lost the game), the receiver just heaved the ball up over his head about ten yards behind him--the Arkansas running back picked it up on a bounce in the middle of a bunch of Ole Miss players and ran 25 yards for the first down, allowing the Razorbacks the chance to score and get a two-point conversion to win the game. Desperate times lead to desperate measures--when it's fourth down or no time left, and you need a score, and you are going down with the ball, that's the time to do exactly what he did!
No thats Al Bundy scored 4 touchdowns in a single game Poke High And also if we know Al Bundy you can tell there was a little oh Al Bundy in this movie
You can't technically fumble a ball on purpose for another player to advance it, that's why in the latest example Alex Smith hiked the ball and handed it to the next player.

This is how we know The Ringer is not a 90's kid
So a fat woman comes into the shoe store today....

Thank you! I HATED how this idiot called him "the grandpa" every damn time. Doesn't he know he scored 4 tds in one game at Polk High?!
@verbadum22 He was clearly trying to get this exact reaction out of the comments lol
I'm so confused why he keeps saying it... Is this an inside joke I don't get about modern family?
put some damn respect on Ed O'Neil's name
King of Polk High
ED O'NEIL! HIS NAME IS ED O'NEIL! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE STOP CALLING HIM THE GRANDPA FROM MODERN FAMILY! THE DUDE IS A LEGEND!
A legend in his sitcom and his movies.
Who else saw the washington football team kinda use this

Just watched it thats my team since I was a little boy i couldn't stop laughing
Cam Newton did it in Carolina 9 yrs ago. I guess it's still in the gamblers playbook.
Yess!!!
Ron Rivera confirmed that it was inspired by Little Giants.

AL "FOUR TOUCHDOWNS" BUNDY.
The grandpa from modern family? That’s like repeatedly calling Robert De Niro the dad from Meet the Parents.
You get a thumbs down for repeatedly calling him "the grandpa from modern family."
Respect Ed and his Al Bundy legacy.
the fact he was referred to just as Modern family grandpa and not Ed MOTHERFUCKING O'Neal is insanely ridiculous
The greatest trick play in this video is calling Ed O'Neill "The Grandpa from Modern Family" to distract us all from the fact that Sherman spent more than 4 minutes breaking down a well-named-but-otherwise-not-so-interesting fumblerooski.
Defending the line of scrimmage when the opposing team needs 99 yards makes sense if a 1-yard loss causes a game-winning safety.
Just saying.
not with 4 seconds left...no reason to get a safety..just hold them back
Exactly, the QB downed the ball in the end zone and then the lineman picked it up.
@@razkable The game was tied. If they got a safety, they would win.
Blame it on Kevin for calling the timeout, just let the clock runout and the game ends in a tie.

Grandpa from Modern Family? More commonly known as Al Bundy from Married...With Children. The show was at its peak when this movie was made.
The annexation of Puerto Rico play also works against the real Cowboys. Look at what happened in the Washington vs. Cowboys game last Thanksgiving.
