Ten is truly a complete set. He's cute, handsome, absolutely talented, and the list goes on. But in the end he is a really an artist. I am amazing the fact that Ten participated almost every step for this song.

Such as Jonghyun's song compositions, Taeyeon's solos, Baekhyun solos, D.O. solo, Super Junior has their own subsidiary company in SM, etc, and most recently, Ten's solo.
he didn't get /full/ control of his solo, seeing as sm kinda turned his original idea for the song down, and as he explained, turned it into a generic love song so it'd be more "relatable" to others. but he was still hands on, in other aspects which is nice. i do hope they allow him full creative control and direction once he gets a proper solo debut
There's something about ten that is so captivating he feels everything he does and he can easily transmit that sentiment to you and you'll be happily stuck with him
The fact that Ten got creative control over his project at SM is a shock stems from SMs need for control of their image and sound. But I also think they have had many artists fighting for a bit of that creative freedom. I sincerely believe a lot of that started with Shinee and F(x) when Jonghyun and Amber and later Luna were doing solo creative activities like song writing and video production. I also think that’s a big reason why SM Station exists today as well. A lot of Ambers final material at SM was self produced. But I also believe that they gave that freedom because they trusted him to create something really interesting, fun, engaging, and profitable. And as always our man Ten delivers!
Honestly, imo the notion that SM stops their artists from making their own music/having creative freedom is not really true or just too exagerated especially by antis. Everytime someone talks about song selection it's shown that the songs are blind selected and the best will win. So when someone is really passionate and has the capabilities to write/compose they can get selected. And when they win against the other competition it just creates a much sweeter victory. Or when someone shows initiative like Kibum wanting to design their concert costumes for Shinee or the artists that joins sonh camps SM lets them run with it. Even before Jonghyun, Amber and Luna members of Suju and GG and even Shinee has been writing their own songs and some of them got released and some don't. Their strictness is understandable for me. But now, with the SM stations and more available channels to create content (soundcloud, youtube, etc) SM artists has been spreading their wings more without the need to get that standard on them and I think that's amazing as well. And I think with them seeing how successful the songs are when fans are appreciating the thought that was put by the artists also pushes them to be less strict about it.

Slightly off topic but I'd like to add that this mindset also makes fans think that their idols' every move is so carefully controlled which I doubt is true. Even w small things such as hair and contact lenses...for example when idols wear their hair a certain way (ie kai's appropriation of black hairstyles), they will pin it on the stylists (kai has actually talked about choosing to use the hairstyle himself lol). It's always "sm should stop making them do this and that", as if artists have no agency over anything. One of the reasons there's an accountability issue in kpop tbh

SM does give creative freedoms to their artist but they have to “beat” the other talented songwriters and producers. Reacttok interviewed someone that worked with SM and they talk about this. SM Idols are encourages to take part in these “song camps” or even help produce. Also the songs are picked randomly. Jonghyun talks about this too. Can't remember if he talks about this in his radio show

maybe its just me but i usually see SM having a more strict control and rarely their idols having creative freedom or control in their music and concepts (unless those idols have been with the company for years or they fought with the company to take their rein). so Ten saying he has control in many aspects of his solo was a little surprising to me but good on SM tho loosening the control a bit. Ten really shine in the MV

Such a nice, chill interview. The MCs did a great job of keeping the convo flowing well and making Ten comfortable. This is Ten's time to talk about himself, express himself, so I think during those moments, we kind are taken aback, and actually have to reflect on how we felt during the art we made, or whatever it is, in general. You could see that with Ten, and it's awesome that he really got involved with this project, not just in one section, but basically all the sections (clothes, colours, lyrics, sound of the song, etc.).

It's really nice seeing Ten talking about what he wants to do, all of his hardworks to be where he is now and started to share his preference in music through his songs. He grew so much as an artists and he deserved the spotlight.
Ten is truly a star in every sense. I understand how it must be even a little bit weird for him to be complimented the way he should be but I think it’s great that he gets praise both for being so hardworking and just so freaking talented. The way everything about him comes together is truly one of a kind, it’s even a little overwhelming at times. There are few things quite as hard as making it in Entertainment and surviving the industry is quite brutal even if one has everything like he does but I’m here to support his endeavours as long as I can.
I remember his messages on bubble of how exited but nervous he was when it was coming up to when PMN was about to drop it's like fans joined the journey of all his emotions like his excitement for the song the change of genre etc I'm so proud of ten .

I can really see why Ten and Taeyong are the 'MAINS' of NCT ever since trainee days. They are the masters of self expression, both very talented all-rounders and an artist through and through. I'm so happy because it is really evident these past months that they seemed to be carefree in presenting themselves, their art, their music. Especially Ten with Paint Me Naked, after some years of not having a permanent unit after T7S and few solo stations, he was finally given a chance to be more hands-on in this solo. I really can't explain... but I just know how blessed I am to have known TEN and NCT in overall in this lifetime...

I hope the outcome of this, the reactions he got from both fans & casual listeners make SM loosen a bit of their control & be receptive of members ideas & allow inputs from them. I hope the outcome of this, the reactions he got from both fans & casual listeners make SM loosen a bit of their control & be receptive of members ideas & allow inputs from them. They only allow it for their artists who are older, so it’s surprising to hear from one of their younger artists that they were allowed to express themselves more freely & hands-on.
