This is fabulous, now I can have android auto in my car constantly without having to take my phone out of my pocket... I just use a different phone - the reason I've not done it is because I want my Whatsapp messages to appear on the car's screen - Thank you SO MUCH

Really appreciate it. Problem is the primary phone has to be switched on, much like a server. It's about time WhatsApp allowed more than one phone without a primary and secondary.

@@sjstu definitely doesn't have to be switched on. It even says as much on the WhatsApp linked device info. Just tested completely switching off my main phone and messages came through to linked device instantly
No it doesn't. Hasn't been a need to have the primary phone on for some time now.
What about the contacts. I don't want to share my primary contacts with the secondary. But if I send a message using the secondary I want the recipient to see that its me. Would it work like that?

What would happen if I update the linked device WhatsApp ? Will it log me out or will it still recognize it as a tablet.
I currently use an Android smartphone. I want to switch to a feature phone/dumb phone that does not have internet to avoid distraction from TH-cam videos etc. This would mean no internet browsing and no WhatsApp on my primary device. I still want to use WhatsApp for communication (in a restricted manner) - on a different device (smartphone).
How can I use WhatsApp on a secondary device when my primary device is a feature phone with no internet? I want to continue using WhatsApp with my existing mobile number.

Another trick I used to do is to open my browser, and go to the WhatsApp Web page in Desktop mode. And then scan the QR code.

How do i implement this hack if I'm using a 8 and 10.4 inch android tablets? The primary tablet, realme pad mini does not have a developer version option.
Every android device will have the developer option. I would recommend you to search for it.
Does the WhatsApp on linked device logs out when I turn off the internet on the main device? Like it does when we link it to a desktop
the last big whatsapp update was so you wouldnt need you main device connected on the internet to use the web whatsapp.
so if you cant use yours without your main device connected, your actually encoutered a bug.

Does anyone know how to fix the crash while loading chats on the secondary phone, afer scanning the qr?
It worked with a Pixel 7 as a linked device a few days ago, but I have replaced it with a Pixel 5 and it crashes when loading chats. Did nothing different.

To be honest, I don't understand why in 2023 people are still using Whatsapp instead of Telegram.
Telegram is such a strong messaging app, feature rich and leagues ahead of whatsapp.
☑Not needing to have your main device on
☑Larger file sharing
☑Having multiple devices linked to one account
☑Better/clearer video and audio quality
☑Having multiple accounts on one app if you'd like (example for someone who travels to different countries regularly and has multiple numbers)
☑Richer emoji suite (if you care about those)
☑The option to choose the size of videos being sent (full size at lower transfer speeds or smaller to send quicker)
These are just some of the highlighted features and they've been available for a WHILE now. I love that we have options and choose which app to use but I wish more people would use the superior of the two.
