Overall good movie but it has one major error in the historical side of things. Namely the scholar elite vs the military elite. Prior to the Song Dynasty, the chinese dynasties actually DID have a military elite similar to the Roman equites that would act as cavalry. It took the Song dynasty and their focus on ecomonic and deep devotion to Confucianism to shift that change and it left a deep shift in future dynasties and how they structured rank and priority.
I really liked the video, the short story lesson at the beggining, the explanations of things etc... in short i loved the video, but there is one thing that just ins't right, it's the thumbnail, it feels more like the thumbnail of a documentary channel than a rp/strategy one, if i was not subscribed to the channel i problaby wouldnt have even clicked in the video because it is so different from the thumbnail norm in the paradox scene, basically what i am saying is that your other thumbnails (like the byzantium or france one) were much better at appealing to the paradox scene, they were simply better in almost all aspects
Making such an amazing video, but only getting 7,4k views and not giving up is incredible. TH-cam is ruthless. The algorithm should be replaced by righteous men women. I also tried to compromise here I guess
Great Video! I really liked the idea behind gameplay. Would like to see something similar with other games and time periods within other Paradox games!
As always, fantastic video! I myself have never really cared for chinese history but this video made it all very interesting! And also, have you ever thought about making a video about a historical total war game, in which you could even talk about the actual or "synthesized" battles. I know its often a smaller timeframe and does not provide the same framework for sanboxing, I still think it would be interesting since you can go more in depth. Anyways, keep up the good work!
Hey @synthist, if you wanted to continue this game into ck3, the imperator rome to ck3 converter is working on compatability for rajas of asia and asia expansion project (two seperate mods that cover almost identical stuff). Hoping to see the stuff fully released in a month or so when everything is back up to date.
I like your videos, I like what you're able to get out of the Paradox games. You have changed how I play them myself. I'm trying to start kindly because I want to correct you now, I hope you don't mind, it comes from a good place. You started this video with a twenty minute grand sweep history of China. Grand sweeps are very difficult to get right. The mandate of heaven is a theoretical framework, it is commonly applied to China, but it like any other framework has up and downsides, points of emphasis and blindspots, when you use it, explain why, point out where it's weak and acknowledge that. Also provide sources and tell us in your audience where we could look for more detailed information. Good historiography takes effort, but it is worthwhile. Ultimately retelling history involves taking limited evidence and simplifying that as far as you can to arrive at synthesis that fairly explains what happened and the points you are interested in. I hope this wasn't an unkind comment and that you read it in the spirit it was conceived, I really do like the videos and will watch the next one as happily as I did this one.

This channel has very quickly become one of my favorite channels. The editing and story telling makes every video so enjoyable. Keep it up!

Very nice to see another upload. It was a bit hard to tell if this was a nonfiction story from a playthrough or an actual historical account.
Can you make if the ottoman Empire succeed to modernize in Victoria 3 1.5 rp storytelling. I think this video will garner much attention
@synthist i hope you read my comment
