If I were you I’d put some shims under the front so that it would lean back into your wall. They are extremely flimsy and if you have kids or pets you risk it falling on them or any other family members in the event of an accident. You can get shims for under a buck at Home Depot or just make some yourself with a paint stick from Walmart. Better safe than sorry imo. Good luck. Aldo, the instructions said not to put anything on the top shelf which is just crazy imo for a bookcase bc everyone usually does, but if you look at the design you will see why. Normally the top noses would cover the side boards and the load would be carried crown the side boards. This design has the top board sitting inside the side boards. If I’d noticed that before I purchased it I would not have purchased it. Garbage design. Any weight you put on top of it will force the boards apart. Luckily, I only need it for paperbacks until I thin them out.
Why don’t they show the top of the bookcase? I just bought two and the top two side pieces that attach to the top board are not finished!!! It’s just rough mdf board and it looks like absolute garbage! I’m tall so unfortunately I can see it and it annoys the hell outta me. I’m disabled so trying to return it is more than a major headache. Both boxes arrived damaged. I should have just immediately called to have them picked back up as the boards are damaged too, but I cannot believe that the two top side boards that attach to the very top board are not finished!!! Blows my mind. So if you wanna spray the dust off the top board that exposed mdf board is just gonna soak up any moisture. Absolute garbage design. Imo buy anything else.
