My father was a fisheries biologist and I grew up doing what you do on your channel and now that I’m older ( late 50’s) it is more important than ever. Keep up the good work.

That was Rat Branch where you launched. I grew up on that Lake. The Watauga. I live in Oregon now, but go back for visits on a regular basis. That's really awesome, it brings back old memories. I appreciate you giving God the glory. Thanks.

Watauga Lake is an awesome place with all the mountains and it's the only lake I ever fish anynore. Buts it can be toucgh to catch em there. I'm glad you finally went to it I've been watching for at least a year or two

Probably a uni to uni knot. (Double uni) There's a million videos if you search it. But I'm sure there might be other kinds of knots for that but that's the most common. Hopefully that helps. Sorry I'm not a John lol

Great video. Love the wildlife shots. I just got into fishing a lot this year and have been catching quite a few bass. An occasional crappie, catfish and bluegill. I also enjoy your Bible quotes at great end of your videos. Never be shy about speaking about God! The world needs more of it along with getting in touch with nature.

Watauga is beautiful! Deep, clear, and cold! Has some monster smallies in it. Swimbaits are one of the go to lures there usually big rainbow trout colored ones, if not swimbaits jerkbaits are killer to. Glad your enjoying your time here man I love it! Thanks for the shout out for Just Fishin' they are really awesome people and carry a lot of stuff others don't. All the things here now are temporary and our life is just a flash, a blink in time. You provide amazing content for people that may never get to experience these things themselves and your message I am sure has helped thousands of people and probably saved many lives, brought people out of the dark and toward the light, off that wide and easy path of sin and down the narrow and difficult path of righteousness. This is a few miles from where I am from (Roan Mountain). I have went swimming many a time at this lake during the summers, we'd have a rope swing tied to a tree until whomever would find it and cut it down for fear we would get hurt lol. Hope you have had a great trip up there!

We have used the Yum craws and they have been great. I usually don't use weights with them. You can fill the cavity in them with fish attractant. I use power bait bass attractant. If you need weight try pin weights.
One thing that I've come across that I like, is the Berkeley Gulp Minnows, either 2 1/2 or 3 inches long. They have a great scent to 'em, to get them fish, especially the Bass, to strike. I've used 'em for probably 4-5 years, and I've had more success with them, than any other soft lure that I've ever used in my life! They can catch some fish, now.
Another thing that I love to do, is take regular Nightcrawlers, and rig 'em up, Texas Rig style. You'll go through a lot of 'em, because of Sunfish nipping and biting at 'em, but when you hook into a big ole Bass, or a good-sized Catfish...or even a Trout, that makes it all worthwhile.
Also:I noticed that you mentioned pin-weights. I'm definitely going to have to look into those, too. Thanks for mentioning those! I'll give 'em a try!

That boat ramp is awsome. On towards NC on that road is a place called Shirley's Great Food. I was stationed there as a recruiter back in 03-06. love that area or Carter County.

2 things, first, I loved your nature shots at the beginning. I hope you arrive early more often so I can see more of them. 2nd, I'm atheist and you are STILL my favorite youtube channel. It's your channel and you have every right to share what you want (within TH-cam's community guidelines haha). You share your beliefs and God's word and you don't do it in a "shove it down your throat" kind of way, I respect that. Keep doing what you do and ignore the trolls.

Here is a "Hack" you can try on your swim baits: get a red Sharpie Permanent Marker, outline the gill plates and put a few streaks on the Belly just behind the gills; it will simulate a bleeding minnow and trigger a few more strikes. Nice clean looking lake great fish , the lakes in Iowa are getting very pressured by all the people fishing like to find a lake where they are not so pressured and not very many boats would be nice to get away from every one and get on a nice lake like that is not fished so crazy

If you haven't tried the gulp hellgrammite you might want to try that. They are awesome. They're scented also they make a gulp minnow and they are scented as well they are about close to $5 for 12 pack have 3-inch hellgrammites. And those a gulp minnows they are so realistic. Caught a ton of smallmouth off both of them.
