      Good on ya man! 9mm ain’t cheap. And I’m glad you kept on the 320 through out all the trash talk. I like polymer guns, and especially the P320. But I love steel guns. 🤙

    Couldn’t agree more on the Quantico Hi cap. Nick and Eli are awesome and this thing is a dream to shoot. If I could only get an RMR on my TRP operator then maybe it would compete for holster time. Lol (although admittedly not the same level of fitment or parts) still has that old school cool it 👍. Anyways, great review

    That's some impressive reliability. I have only three pistols with more than 500 rounds through them that have zero malfunctions. I have a Walther PPS M2 (3000 rounds), Walther PPX (1200 rounds), and Langdon Tactical 92G RDO (690 rounds). I've put over 500 rounds through probably another dozen pistols, but none of those ran flawlessly. That said, I do expect my CZ 75 PCR to make it past 500 with no issues. And I agree with you that guns are tools and should be used. I've owned high-end guns (like a Big Horn Armory M90) and actual antiques (an 1892 year of production Argentine Mauser, for instance) and I've shot every gun I've ever owned.

      The “weak links” in 1911/2011 reliability are; barrel fit (or lack of), extractor tension/fitment (or lack of) and MAGAZINES.
      It is unrealistic to expect a “Production gun” to be 100% reliable.
      However; a Properly set up 1911/2011, with good quality magazines and decent ammo will run all day long, everyday.
      A “semi-custom” or custom gun (as in this vid) should meet that criteria- it’s what you’re paying for.
      You cannot expect in a 1911 to cobble together a bunch of MIM parts, like a Glok, and have it run flawlessly. It was never designed or engineered that way.
      Modern, close tolerance, CNC machining has helped, but the 1911/2011 needs hand fitment to be- Perfect.

    Wow! My staccato XC slide to frame fit is incredible, very tight no play and thats with the mag out and hammer back. It has a little over 2500 rounds through it. My ACWs are also great though, no issues whatsoever.

    • @rdrgear
      @rdrgear  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mine rattles. With mag in and hammer down. And if I’m don’t shoot it In perfect conditions. I will have issues. And it has to be lubed up. At 43-4400 these are over priced severely. The ACW is ten times the gun the XC. But it does not have the comp that everyone wants. The Quauntico shoots tighter with a softer recoil. Just not. As fast as the XC.

    Beautiful. 3 guns on my must have list are the quantico hicap carry, bul sas tac ii comp and my unicorn, a chambers PHATWMG CC in 38 super. My 3 current edc rotation all have over 5k downrange without failures. 9mm modded all metal ported/comped 365x and cz s2c. And my baby, a custom Wilson cqb commander in .45 of course. Not quite 10k but I’ll take it 😅 unfortunately I won’t have the funds to be able to check anything off my list for quite some time. But it’s nice to dream haha. Plus ammo is expensive😢

    My not so hot take is that guns look WAY better when they're used and dinged up. I have an old police surplus Beretta 85 that's just a joy to look at. Shoots well too, despite the sights being absolutely f'd. I can't wait for my main use guns to look that used, but CZs polycoat is proving to be pretty durable, at least coming out of a Safariland GLS.

    • @rdrgear

      The charyn pistol is more customizable. So if you use have been on a 2011 for years. And you know what you like and don't like. In regards to safety shape beaver tail shape/style etc. Then the Charyn gun is for you. But you will pay for those things. The Qauntico is every bit as good. In regard to fit and function. You are just getting a "fixed menu" with the alchemy.

    Looking to pickup a quantico hi cap. Can you speak to the bluing rust resistance? I’m not worried about scratches and wear but rust on a blued 1911 is incredibly annoying. Any issues you’ve had with your finish? Worth it to just go dlc?

      None on mine. I also don't live near salt water or in a humid state. If rust of your focus. DLC is the way to go. Or just standard blue and keep up on the maintenance. Silicone rags are a great investment, and a humidifier in the safe.

      None, that were gun related. I had one bad Stacatto mag. One of the biggest and best selling points of the ACW pistols is how well they are sprung. They are sprung to 124 nato. So shooting standard 115, 124 and 14$ is a breeze.

    It’s a TOOL. Make it work for the end user; porting/compensators allow much easier “accurately/faster” possible.
    1911/2011 is all about Barrel Fit.
    Slide to Frame is more a “nicety” than a requirement for ACCURACY and certainly Reliability. Rob builds a great gun from what I have seen personally.
    If you can afford to drive a Lambo, good for you.
    At a certain price point, it’s more about the Driver than the Car.
    90% of shooters can’t outrun a Staccato.

    • @rdrgear
      @rdrgear  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All valid points. Except the slide to frame fit. Do you own a gun by Rob or a ACW model gun?

    • @DRay-or4tc
      @DRay-or4tc 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@rdrgear No ACW guns in my safe.
      One of the “pups” has one of Robs 1911’s I’ve shot a number of times.
      The frame/slide fitment is similar to my Yost or Garthwaite 1911’s.
      I have a couple STI era 2011’s that are not as tight slide to frame, and the barrel fit (barrel hood and feet) was sub par.
      There was enough meat on feet/hood to re-cut/refit properly. They’re 2 1/2” at 50 yd guns now.
      The point? Bank vault slide/frame fitment isn’t required for excellent accuracy if barrel fit (and bushing- if present) is proper.
