    I started the flip fold method when I learned it while working at a clothing store many years ago. I recently discovered the konimarie fold and I liked certain things about it, but couldn't make my shirts look as neat. I am glad you made me realize I can combine the two methods.

      Omg I went from contempo casuals to a denim specialist at Rampage ( same company as Judy’s)
      All I did for 3 months was good jeans for 12 hours . I saw my old boss in the mall . She asked how I was doing and I said I missed my old job . She offered to put me on the schedule as early as in 3 days. So I was sooo happy to get away from folding jeans till 2am

    I’m a pretty organized person but I must admit I’ve been putting off cleaning out and reorganizing my dresser drawers. My underwear drawer especially!! Midway through watching this video I was off in my room getting it done. 40 minutes later success!!! I found 6 pair of underwear I wasn’t even wearing because...you guessed it they where on the bottom and in the back!! 😂 Thanks for the motivation!!

    Long before the flip fold was a thing, I worked for Talbots and we were required to do the “clipboard” fold for all of the folded tops. We used actual clipboards which had a line drawn down the center and laid them on top of the top after it was laid face down on the table, then folded it much like the second method you showed. The line on the clipboard helped to keep the folding better centered. I hope that makes sense. I started using the file method a couple of years ago and it is a game changer, but you blew my mind when you talked about using it for tea towels! Why did I never think of that?? Brilliant! Thanks for sharing!

    Hi Kay- I love this folding method and I too learned it from Marie Kondo, but I always enjoy seeing other people demo it. I especially love organizing this way in my new Elfa system I installed last year. Do you remember a little over 6 months ago you helped me when I sent you the plan the store set up for me because I didn’t think it was right? Well I got it all worked out and redesigned much of it myself. I have been meaning to take some pictures to send to you, if you’re interested. Your input was very helpful!

    Great video. Personally, I’m not a big fan of the folding for clothes. Most of my clothes are hanging up in my closet. The only clothing I have in drawers is one for my workout pants which are all the same and for my undergarments. I do like your idea for using the folding for dish towels though.

    Doing my dish towels and cleaning cloths this way has been a game changer for me! That drawer was always a hot mess! 🙄
    For clothes, it depends on type. I don't fold socks or every day undies, they are all the same and just get tossed together. Pants are tri-fold, but not jeans; they are folded in half and stacked with the leg topmost so I can tell if they are straight, boot or skinny. One drawer for "long" jeans (ie wear with heels), one for regular length. Works a treat!

    I really want to do this but two things- I have a lot more shelves than drawers (though that does help with being able to se the bottom of the stack) and the drawers I do have have super aggravating safety stops that only allow the drawer to come out about half way.

  • @joools1953
    @joools1953 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I don't use this folding system for everything. I hang jeans and pants in the wardrobe. I also don't care which tea towel I grab - just take whatever is on top. But for t-shirts, I think it's perfect. I can see at a glance what tops are in the drawer so I'm not rummaging around looking for a particular colour/style. I have plain coloured tops on one side of the draw and patterned/striped/spotted etc on the other side. Easy peasy.

  • @debsy
    @debsy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I tried this folding method and it was a mess. As I went to take my clothes through the week they all fell in on each other, particularly some of my more floppy tops ... I have not gotten around to refolding the "traditional" way :(

    • @TheOrganizedSoprano
      @TheOrganizedSoprano  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

  • @TheRealLilah
    @TheRealLilah 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I noticed in the t-shirt drawer, there's space at the top. The reason I've resisted this method is because I feel like I'm losing storage capacity because my "filed" clothes don't use all the available space.

    • @TheOrganizedSoprano
      @TheOrganizedSoprano  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can understand that. It does seem kind of a waste when things don’t fill the space more efficiently. One of the things I’ve had to make peace with is that I might not be able to fill a space up all the way or that it may be too tall/long for what it’s intended for.

    I have the flip fold and almost never use it. I hang almost everything as I hate folding. The only things I put in drawers are underwear and socks and sweaters that shouldn't be hung. The underwear is all the same style and the socks are the same style and color so the underwear gets dumped in the underwear bin and the socks in the sock bin. I also don't fold my kitchen towels as I just dump them in to their bin in my pantry.
