Nature can be cruel, but deer are tough and can survive many hardships,
I'd say 2 different deer the tail looks completely different , more dark hair in the center with more white border on the last years buck imo
He ain't looking too good. I think different animals. 👍🏻
Different deer. I've had several deer on camera with this over the years. I never found any dead nor looking like they were going to die. I read that young bucks are most susceptible which is what I have seen. Definitely looks gross but I think they usually get over it unless they can't eat. I have seen it on their faces at times.
NW PA here. I have 2 buck with these warts. First time I have seen this. where is it coming from, pesticides, fertilizer, cloud seeding or maybe over population. Does not look to appetizing to me.
I think its a different deer. I wonder if he know that thousands of people are contemplating his issues.
That's crazy! Always something new to learn! I've never seen that on a deer. I wonder if the meat is still good on it. I don't think I would want to eat it either way.
I don't think it's the same deer. When I saw this video, I thought it was flies, but I was watching on my phone. I've seen deer with the same growth.
How's she goin'? I don't think this is the same deer. I have never seen or heard of this kind of affliction on a deer. It sure doesn't look good and I don't think the deer is long for this world. Too bad eh. Take care!!
The deer warts do not look good. We have not seen that type of growth on deer over here. It does look like a different deer but it is hard to say. I would be surprised if it makes it through the winter
I’ve never seen before on any deer here in my area of Ontario . If it’s the same deer as last year it doesn’t look good for him making it another winter sadly
Interesting It may not be the same deer but could be a chance there related? Never seen that in all my years of hunting
This is crazy i found this by random. Never seen this before except on my trail cams this year also a yearling spike on the legs and face looks exactly the same. Is it safe to eat the meat of a deer with this?
Different deer. Deer usually don’t go from 6 points to spikes and that sick deer looks like a 1 year old. Thanks for the vid, good luck out there!
N. Tx. Certainly in this state, and the fact that he’s not in good health for the winter. At his current condition it would seem that he’s better off being put down. But that’s my opinion of the mercy rule. And, one should always abide by the rules and not be the mercenary carrying out a seemingly good deed before checking in with the states laws. I’ve seen several cases in this state. Tho reporting on the infected deed to authorities but not sure if they had gone out to document anything on them. I’ve also seen cases in other animals including cattle which were put down or sent to a veterinary hospital for medical studies.
I think they are two deer.
We had a Doe a couple years ago that the the growths all around her neck.
Never on cam but I seen her close up bow hunting.
Never seen her again after gun season and she never was in front of a cam.
I am guessing she either was shot during gun season or was pushed to another property.
Comparing length and width of the tails look like 2 different deer to me.
It looks like a different deer to me. I've seen several deer with these fibromas and one of my cameras is capturing one repeatedly this year that has one on her hip. They've all seemed to be doing fine. I think the real danger it poses to deer is when they show up in places that prevent them from eating and moving normally or if one ruptures and leads to a secondary bacterial infection.
I think it same buck, he just degraded
Cutaneous fibroma
I think 2 different
That’s so sad. I’ve not seen one like that where I am. No idea how quickly it spreads. Hope the majority are alright.
Looking at the black marking on its lower jaw/mouth (chin strap I think it's called) which doesn't change year to year it looks really similar on both bucks, I'm gonna be the odd ball and say it's the same buck 😁. Very interesting! 👍
Very interesting. I know during summer heat when the deer's coat is the lightest, seeing ribs on a deer is not unusual.. However that young buck seems a bit off all around. It do not think it is the same deer as the buck from last year. I just do not think a deer can shrink that much. It looks like what you said, an underlying issue with its immune system along with the deer warts is wearing it down. Thanks for the insights and sharing Dave! Makes you ponder for sure.
I think its a different deer! I 'm not sure what that is and hope it doesn't kill the deer! Thank you for sharing my friend!
That is very concerning, but I also think it's another deer.
In your shot of the two deer for comparison I see the same spot on the inside right rear leg of each. Also, it is obvious that one picture is in winter and the other is summer. I think the seasons have a lot to do with comparing both. Anyway, I feel that it is the same deer.
Looks like two different deer to me. I just hope that this doesn’t spread to the rest of the deer on your place.
What do the vets say about the source od this virus?? I think it's probably a different buck, but "I know nothing."
I would contact your state dept of wildlife (or whatever their name is) to see if they are studying it or know of some agency who is.
They look like two different deer. There is good info on Cornell college of veterinary medicine, Cornell wildlife health lab
Two different deers
He's not looking too good.
Looks different
Does that mean you can't harvest that deer for meat
Poor buck!
