You know more than you think you do! My tip would be, treat each patient as if they were your mum/dad/grandparent. If you do that, you won't go far wrong ;)
Awesome job & congrats! Don't sell yourself so short. The conventional system of education isn't typically catered to diverse learning methods. You're with degree now and its the same one every other pharmacist has. Big ups!
I really appreciate this, i'm only year 12 - going into year 13 but i feel like i'm really drowning in a-levels! Ideally, i've been looking at universities with the grades of AAA or AAB but my exams didn't go as great as i hoped! I also didn't consider the university of hertforshire - thankyou Babara!

I know exactly how you feel Barbara, sixth form was honestly the worst time for me and I didn't make any of the grades I was expecting and I've ended up going to a university I hate because my parents made me change course. I actually got into a university and course I originally wanted but because of my parents I had to change course, I didn't get high enough grades to change to another good university so ended up at the one I'm at now. It honestly feels so awful, I'm in first year so the wounds of sixth form still bare some weight on me. I can't wait till this is over so I can be somewhere that I like :( congrats on your 2:1 xx

This entire blog resonated with me so strongly, you have no idea. My Highers/ Advanced Highers (I'm Scottish) weren't great, and I didn't meet the requirements for any of my choices. Luckily, my second choice took me on anyway, so I dodged clearing too, but I just remember staying up all night crying once I had my grades, not knowing whether I'd get to go to uni or not. Going into fourth year now, and I adore my uni, but I'm also pretty anxious and don't ever go to lectures, which I really don't like telling people. None of my friends are the same way, so it's really encouraging for me to see someone else who works the way I do and got a good degree out of it. Good luck with everything, and well done on the 2:1!

Barbara, it's great to see a youtube that has a real life job! I'm just going into my second year of Medicine. How did you cope being uni for so many years? I've got 4 more years to go! I also agree with OSCEs being so scary, we have 3 OSCEs throughout the year and a big one at the end.
Though I've no personal experience or interest in the medical/pharmacy area I found this so interesting to watch :) Love hearing about others' experiences with uni, work, studies, etc. And you're so right - although they're helpful, A Level results really aren't the be all, end all, and I think it also really goes to show that they really aren't a true representation of someone's knowledge or intelligence, as you're so obviously such an intelligent and eloquent woman. Wish you all the luck with your new job and would love to hear updates once you're settled in! xx

what you said about lectures and feeling anxious is so true! I felt the exact same throughout my whole uni life and much preferred studying in my own time! I thought I was the only one! also, your hair looks gorgeous! xx
I'm a diagnostic radiographer and I was the same Barbara. I learned all my theory for exams and forgot it all after I'd passed the exam! But you learn SO MUCH in your first year of work, it all sort of clicks into place. Well done for graduating :) xxx
It's nice to hear how your a level results didn't impact your degree studies. It's calming for me because I'm quite anxious for my results from my first year of a levels
I feel the same way about lectures! I hate that idea that I can't leave. I always have to sit on the edge or in the back somewhere near the door so that I have an easy escape lol even in theatres and stuff I hated feeling boxed in! Though generally I don't think I'm a very anxious person, so I'm not sure if it's a weird quirk or what. I also do better when I study alone so most lectures aren't that great for me. But unfortunately my uni has an attendance policy so I have to go anyway whether it's helpful or not. Anyway good luck to you! :)

It's so funny what you said about lectures and not liking the feeling that you can't leave, I was exactly the same! I hear you on that online questionnaire based data collection, did that for my Psychology dissertation and it made things much easier. Third year (my final year) was definitely easier in terms of coursework for me too, we had much less than second year which was hell, probably because we had the dissertation to think about. ThePersianbabe I think it really depends on your personality. I think youll be fine!! Ive learned that there are 2 types of pharmacist: those cut out for retail (fast paced, lots of time on your feet) and those cut out for hospital/clinical (slower paced, more sitting). Im retail and I love it. Its all what you make of it. If you let it get to you, then youll hate it. If you stay positive, keep the energy up and just keep in mind that you do what you can...youll love it! I love the fast paced environment. I love joking around with our technicians. Its all up to you :) Good luck with everything!! I wish you all the best!
Did you ever find people were shocked when they found out you were doing a science degree? I have a BSc Hons Chemistry degree and people could never believe it because I was into beauty and fashion as well!
Well done for doing so well, I'm sure we are all super proud of you 😀 funny enough I also applied to Kings and Herts as my second choice and also didn't make it into Kings so picked Herts. It's a good recognised uni so I guess we did well! Regretfully I met you once at the bus stop and we both were waiting for the Shuttle to get to the car park and sat next to each other but I didn't say HI 😌😌😌 for some silly reason and now regret it because you looked so lovely and friendly! I did a placement year and from Sep will be doing my final year but won't bump into you anymore 😢
I have some questions about Pharmacy. What were the practicals and experiments in the lab like? what are the exams like? Is the content really hard? What are the essays like?
