Great DIY video! Straightforward! Quick question: I have 2 switches. I want to use one for the fan and the other one for the light. I also want to use the wireless module to control the fan speed . Is it possible to do that? Since the module has only one hot wire.
Technically, it COULD be done, but we do not recommend it. That would allow you to wire the receiver to a switch and the light to the other switch. This would let you use the switch for light control and the remote for the fan speed control. Wiring the light directly to a switch would omit light control from the remote and you would not have the ability to consistently control the light's color temperature. That can only be done using the remote control.

Now only one switch controls the light and fan together. I have black, white, copper and red coming out of the ceiling. The fan only has the red and white. Any recommendations to get both switches working?
We would suggest just connecting the receiver to the house black as shown in the video and not connecting it to any switches. With this fan, the receiver remembers the last setting for the fan and light. If you connect it to a switch, every time you turn the switch on/off, the light will change to the next color temperature and you will need to select the color temperature again. Connecting the receiver directly to the house power (black) avoids this issue. At most, you could connect the receiver to one standard on/off toggle switch, but again, the light control would be affected. We would not recommend setting this fan up with 2 switches.
Having a remote is a nice feature, but requiring it to use the fan properly is a pretty terrible solution. I am highly considering returning all these fans!
Great video. Finished one fan and Adding a second fan but, for this one, the ceiling has extra wires. Ceiling: Ground, white, black and red. Fan: ground, white, and red. How do I wire this?
We would suggest just capping the red wire from the ceiling and connecting the receiver red wire to the house black wire. That being said, typically, a red wire is a switch wire. If that is the case, if the switch is a standard on/off switch, you can connect the receiver red wire to the house red wire and cap off the house black wire. That would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off using the switch. Please note that if connected to a switch, the light's color temperature may change if the switch is turned off then on rapidly (within 4 seconds).
Hey! Thanks for the video. I need some help. I have two of these fans in my apt and the remotes are wonky. The remote in the room will activate both fans when i onlu want to control the one. I see that theres frequency settings but idk where to start. Also any tips for why either of these doesnt actually dim? Its either on or off. Just moved into this place, these are the fans installed.
Each remote and receiver pair needs to be set to a unique dip switch setting to ensure that each remote only controls the intended fan. This is covered at the 4:06 mark. Since the fans are already installed, you will have to remove the canopy ring by twisting coutnerclockwise, and then unscrew 2 of the standard screws and loosen but not remove the 2 screws in the J slots. Then, you will be able to twist the motor housing to remove it from the mounting bracket which will give you access to the receiver. To dim the lights, press and hold the light button on the remote. While holding the button, the light will cycle from bright to dim to bright again. Release the button once the desired brightness level is reached.
Great video. Second fan I install thanks to your videos. I have a question so after installing the fan the light switch don’t work? I will always have to use the remote control? TIA
Technically, the fan's receiver can be wired to a standard on/off toggle style switch which would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off at the same time. We don't recommend using a switch because if the switch is turned off/on too quickly, it could cause the color temperature of the light kit to change. For optimal operation, the fan should only be controlled with the remote.
I am about to install one of this at my place today. I was reviewing the manual and there is a SAFETY CABLE. You did not show that in here. I wish I can find a video on how to install it.
The fan in this video is the USA version. The Canada version has a safety cable as regulated by Canada. The safety cable is pretty straight forward, Just screw the Jscrew into the support structure and loop the safety cable on.
Hi! Will be picking up this fan this week but I have a quick question: Since I have a wall switch, I have 1 ground, 1 neutral (white), 1 live (black) and 1 red (from switch) in the electrical box. Which of the black or red do I connect to the red wire on the receiver? Thanks for the answer and your video.
Apologies for the late reply. We missed this question. We'd suggest capping the red ceiling wire and connecting the receiver power wire to the house live wire.
I just installed this and I feel like its not giving too much cool wind. Is it too high? I love in the Caribbean and I need cool air all day long. FYI: its spinning counterclockwise.
For optimal performance, the fan should be installed so that the blades are about 8 ft from the floor. The default reverse switch position is switch left. That should create a downward airflow. Switch right would create an upward airflow for use during the winter months. Either way, ceiling fans, in general, do not create cool wind. Ceiling fans create a cooling effect when the breeze contacts perspiration on the skin. They circulate the air in the room, so if the air is hot, the fan will just circulate hot air.
Really like the fan. I’m having trouble switching the light colors. It’s at default, but it won’t let me switch to the brightest setting. Any suggestions?
The light is controlled by 2 different buttons. The light on/off/and brightness is controlled by the light button on the left side. The color temperature is controlled by the CCT button to the right of the light button. To dim or increase the brightness of the light, press and hold the light button. While holding that button, the light will cycle through its brightness settings. Relase the button once the desired brightness level is reached. To change the color temperature of the light, press and release the CCT button. The light has 3 options: 2700K, 3000K, and 5000K. If the light does not respond to the CCT button, we would suggest calling Home Decorators Collection customer service at 1-800-592-5233.
Very good instructions. However, failed to speak to the installation of the safety cable (which is key) which pretty much requires two people to install it safely.
Thanks. The safety cable is a Canadian requirement and is covered in the Canada version of the manual. We do not cover the safety cable because this is the US version and the safety cable is not included. The addition of the safety cable should not require a second person. The steps for the safety cable are to screw a wood screw into the joist and loop the safety cable onto it. That can be done while the fan is hanging on the hook of the mounting bracket.
I installed this fan in 3 rooms. Alllll the fans are affected by a remote from one in the other room. If someone's turns on the light or increases the fan speed in 1 room, the other 2 get affected. How can we make the remotes only affect the fans for the room it's specifically in??
Each remote and receiver pair need to be set to a unique dip switch setting so that each remote only controls the intended fan. This is covered in detail in the video. Fast forward to the 4:06 mark "Preparing the remote and receiver"
Thank you for the video. Is that a way to remove the light shade? Reason is I want replace LED module as it doesn't work anymore. I tried to remove it but it won't twist at all.
it may help to knock lightly around the edges (like knocking on a door). Then push up a bit when trying to untwist the light shade. It also may help to wear rubber or latex gloves and hold the shade on the outer edges.
The best way to operate the fan and light is to use the remote and not use a wall switch. If you use a wall switch, the color temperature may change each time the switch is turned off/on. There is no way to change the default setting.
Please help! My Ashby Park ceiling fan receiver only has 3 wires: white, black and yellow (that's the antena). And my ceiling only has 2 wires: black and yellow. Which wires should I connect together?
We really can't answer without knowing what the yellow wire is. We would suggest calling a licensed electrician to make sure the wiring is connected correct. The wiring from the house should have a hot wire (typically black) and a neutral wire (typically white). The yellow may be a neutral wire, but it could also be a switch wire. Sorry we can't be more help.
I have screwed in the 4 screws to mount the motor and no matter how tight I get them the entire fan still rattles. It is definitely the motor rattling against the black ceiling mount. Any suggestions?
It sounds like the outlet box may not be completely tightened. If all other hardware is completely tightened, the outlet box seems like the only issue. If that does not resolve the issue, we would suggest calling Home Decorators Collection customer service at 1-800-986-3460. Their team will be able to get more information to help troubleshoot.
I just installed my fan following the video instructions but it will not start. I just the wiring and looks ok. There is power as well. Any suggestion?
Is the light installed and connected? If you are trying to test after making the wire connections, the fan will not operate until the light kit is connected. Also, make sure that if the fan is connected to a switch, that the switch is turned on. If those tips do not resolve the issue, we would suggest calling Home Decorators Collection customer service at 1-800-986-3460.
I have the span but I'm having a little problem with programming. I don't know how to program the remote. We have two of these fans in the house and I want to program them differently on different frequencies I noticed that the program allows it to do that. But I don't know how to program it I have heard that you turn the light switch off do something to the remote turn it back on or something like that to program it. Could you please help me with that.? Thank you
Watch the video at the 4:06 mark (preparing the remote and receiver). That section shows how to change the frequency if you have 2 of the same fan. You just need to set the dip switch settings for each remote. That will ensure that each emote only controls the intended fan.and receiver pair to a unique setting. That will ensure that each remote only controls the intended fan.
The easiest way we have found, if the shade is stuck, is to knock lightly around the edges (like knocking on a door, and then using some rubber gloves and holding the shade at the edge and pushing up and twisting.
I’m installing this fan while watching this awesome video. But my question is on my previous fan i had a separate switch between the fan and the light. Not exactly sure how to proceed from there. Should i connect to just one black and one white? And just kill one of the switches?
Thanks for watching. We would recommend wiring the receiver directly to the house constant power wire (black) and just capping off the switch wire. The fan is not recommended for use with any switches due to the color changing LED. The LED has a memory to remember the color temperature setting and if connected to a switch, the light color temperature may change each time the switch is turned off/on.
The receiver can only be wired to one standard on/off toggle switch. If using a switch wire, you would connect the receiver power wire to the switch wire and cap off the other house power wire and switch wire. If you are noot sure about the wiring, we would suggest calling a licensed electrician to ensure proper connections.
Typically a red wire is a switch wire. We are not licensed electricians and if you have wiring questions, you should contact a licensed electrician. That being said, if the red wire is a switch wire, you have two options: Cap off the red wire and wire as instructed in the video, or cap off the house black wire and connect the receiver power wire to the red house wire. That would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off simultaneously using the switch. Please note that if connected to a switch, the color temperature of the light might change if the switch is turned off/on rapidly (within 4 seconds).
You can have up to 16 of these fans in the same home all operating at different frequencies. If you have 2 fans, you will need to change the frequency of one of the remote/receiver pairs to make sure the remote only controls the intended fan. This is covered in the video at the 4:20 mark.
I have a question about wall switch. My existing fan runs from wall switch. Will I be able to use wall switch or just remote. If remote only is the case my wall switch is just dead( no power going to it)
We do not recommend using a wal switch with this particular fan. Technically, the remote receiver can be connected to a standard on/off switch, but that may cause the light color temperature to change each time the switch is turned off/on.
Make sure that the wires did not loosen after they were connected - happens sometimes. Also, make sure that the dip switches in the remote match the dip switches on the receiver. If that doesn't fix it, we would suggest calling Home Decorators Collection customer service. Their team is pretty good at troubleshooting.
I've installed a couple no problem, but on the one I just installed, the fan doesn't turn, but the light works. Before I uninstall and try to diagnose, is there something obvious to look at?
We would suggest making sure the wiring is connected correctly and that the wiring did not disconnect/get loose during the installation. That will sometimes happen after making the wire connections. If that doesn't resolve the issue, we would suggest calling the Home Decorators customer service team at 1-800-986-3460.
Thanks for the great video.. Can you please help me identify the problem for a clicking sound. Mine was working fine for a week until the clicking sound started. Do you have any recommendations on what to do? TIA.
Most clicking can be attributed to loose parts or wire nuts tapping inside the motor housing. Make sure the wires are tucked into the mounting bracket and outlet box to ensure they do not tap against the inside of the motor housing. Also, make sure the blades and the light kit are completely tightened. If those tips don't help, we would suggest calling Home Decorators Collection customer service at 1-800-986-3460. Their team is pretty good at troubleshooting.
@@ceilingfans101 Thank you. i checked the blades and double check the wiring and still is making noise. I will call the cust serv. Thank you very much for your quick response!! You are awesome!!
I just installed an Ashby Park 52 in fan and when I point the remote at it and press on i just hear a single click noise from inside the housing, does that signify what's wrong, the light doesn't come on and the blades dont turn
The click heard is the receiver sending the command to the fan. Please make sure that the receiver plug is properly/completely connected to the fan wire harness.
Great video! Do you have to change the factory settings to get the dimmer to work on the remote? I left the all on (from the factory & control box) and can't get the dimmer switch to dim the lights? Appreciate the help.
The dip switches will not affect the light dimmer. I would suggest making sure that all of the wir connections are complete. To dim the light, you need to press and hold the light button on the remote.
Thanks for getting back to me. That's what I figured but the dimmer would not activate no matter how long I pressed the dimmer button. All it did for me was turn the light on and off. Did call the helpline and after much review, I was told the dimmer would not actually dim the lights at all, and that's why the different mode light changes are for. Everything else worked. I'm glad your dimmer operates correctly. All wiring is good and decided to take it back. Thanks for your reply.
@@savnbest4last249 There may have been an issue with the receiver. The light will absolutely dim in all 3 different color temperature settings. The helpline person was mistaken. Sorry to hear that you decided to take it back.
Wow. Wish mine would have worked. I really liked the fan model. Is it necessary to activate the light and fan from the switch first for the remove to recognize? Thanks.
Just curious, since the dimming was not showed on the video, were you able to dim the lights pretty low? I like my light in my master bedroom soft and low. Also, I did use the power source from my current dimmer switch and did switch it to the high as possible setting.. Maybe this had an effect on why the remote wouldn't dim at all? Wondering if I would have had better luck in using a standard light switch? Thanks for your help.
When I turn on the switch, it seems to be going thru every single light before the one I like. Is there any way it can be set on 1 color without using the remote every time?
For this fan, we recommend connecting directly to the house wiring and not using a switch. The remote receiver has the memory function and using a switch will cause the light color temperature to change each time the switch is turned off/on.
Just installed this fan. The fan worked for a day and now the remote wont turn the fan on. You can hear the motor clicking but it doesnt turn the fan blades.
We would suggest checking the wiring between the receiver and house wiring and then between the receiver and fan. Most of the times when this happens, it is signalling a loose connection. If that doesn't fix it, call Home Decorators Collection customer service at 1-800-986-3460. Their team is pretty good at troubleshooting over the phone.
My lights are extremely low; when I removed the white cover to change the light bulb, I discovered there was no light bulb at all. How do I fix this problem?
The light may have been inadvertently dimmed. Try pressing and holding the light button on the remote. While holding the button down, the light should cycle from dim to bright to dim again. Release the button once the light reaches the desired brightness level.
Sounds like the wires may be crossed. We would suggest calling Home Decorators Collection customer service. Their team is pretty good at troubleshooting over the phone. They will also be able to send any replacement parts if necessary.
here are some troubleshooting suggestions: 1. Check that the reverse switch is fully in position. Switch it back and forth to make sure that it is not in the middle. If the reverse switch is not fully in one of 2 positions, the fan won't operate. 2. make sure the dip switch settings in the battery compartment of the remote and the dip switch settings in the receiver match. If not, the remote will not operate the fan. 3. Make sure the wiring did not loosen during the installation. Sometimes after connecting the wiring and moving the wires, the wires might get loose and disconnect. If those tips do not resolve the issue, call the customer service number on the manual.

While holding the button, the light will cycle from bright to dim to bright again. Release the button once the desired brightness level is reached.
Thanks..!!! Very well and informative video…
@@ceilingfans101 I did not know about this versions. Thank you for the reply!!
Good video, thanks for explaining. Helped me out alot
that's great to hear!
Great video, thank you!
You're welcome!
Easy and fun !!!!!!! Thanks
Excellent video ! Thank you
Very good instructions.
Much appreciated!
Thank you for your recommendation. I'll try it out.
I like the daylight color but don’t want to switch it to that everytime I go in the room anyway to change the factory color????
The best way to operate the fan and light is to use the remote and not use a wall switch. If you use a wall switch, the color temperature may change each time the switch is turned off/on. There is no way to change the default setting.
@@ceilingfans101 oh ok thanks for the info!
Excellent guide!
thank you so much~ great~~~~~~!!!!!!!!!
What if there's no bare house wire to connect the green bracket wire to?
Can I use the white neutral wire instead?
NO, the green wire is a ground wire. If you don't have a bare ground wire for the house, you can just leave the green wire unconnected.
I have two of the same fans in my house. If I use the remote it will turn both of them on. Is they’re a way to avoid that
Yes, the remotes need to be set at different frequencies. Watch the video at the 4:06 mark.
Is there an easy way to get the light cover off? I’m trying to replace a fan blade and that thing won’t budge…
Very useful!!
Thanks for video, i have an extra red wire coming from house.
We would suggest just capping the red wire with a wire nut and electrical tape.
What if I have four wires and 2 switches (one for light and one for fan)? The reciever only has two wires...
The receiver can only be wired to one standard on/off toggle switch. If using a switch wire, you would connect the receiver power wire to the switch wire and cap off the other house power wire and switch wire. If you are noot sure about the wiring, we would suggest calling a licensed electrician to ensure proper connections.
I have an extra wire coming from the ceiling. I have black, white, copper and also Red. What do I do with this?
Typically a red wire is a switch wire. We are not licensed electricians and if you have wiring questions, you should contact a licensed electrician. That being said, if the red wire is a switch wire, you have two options: Cap off the red wire and wire as instructed in the video, or cap off the house black wire and connect the receiver power wire to the red house wire. That would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off simultaneously using the switch. Please note that if connected to a switch, the color temperature of the light might change if the switch is turned off/on rapidly (within 4 seconds).
@@ceilingfans101 perfect. Thank you!
@@OakAthainNerin you're welcome. Glad it worked out!
Very clear. Thanks!
I've got a black and red wire coming from the house. Which one do I wire to the black (hot) wire of the fan? What do I do with the other wire? Thanks!
Cap the red wire from the ceiling using a wire nut and electric tape and connect the black wire from the house to the receiver.
Can you turn the light on and off without the actual fan running?
Thank you!
can you have 2 of these fan in the same home. they both work off the same remote. how do I separate the 2 remotes.
You can have up to 16 of these fans in the same home all operating at different frequencies. If you have 2 fans, you will need to change the frequency of one of the remote/receiver pairs to make sure the remote only controls the intended fan. This is covered in the video at the 4:20 mark.
Excellent!
I’m having trouble with this, hooked up black to red on reciver and white to whit yet nothing when I turn it on
Make sure that the wires did not loosen after they were connected - happens sometimes.
Great video... thanx

Thanks for your help.
thank u so much
When I turn on the switch, it seems to be going thru every single light before the one I like. Is there any way it can be set on 1 color without using the remote every time?
For this fan, we recommend connecting directly to the house wiring and not using a switch. The remote receiver has the memory function and using a switch will cause the light color temperature to change each time the switch is turned off/on.
I have a ground wire on the mounting bracket, bare copper in the ceiling and ground wire in the motor.... should I wire them all together?
Yes, as long as the fan and mounting bracket wires are green ground wires, they should be connected to the Bare copper house wire.
I need to check to wiring in the housing since mine isn't working. How do you remove the trim ring?
The canopy ring twists off. See the installation at the 8:08 mark and then do the reverse to remove.
@@ceilingfans101 OMG, that actually worked! Thank you soooo much for your help! 😁😁😁

Did anyone run into a problem where the fan and light didn’t turn on and how did you resolve it
I have the same problem. The receiver didn't seem to connect with the remote. I checked there is power after the receiver.
here are some troubleshooting suggestions:
