    How long does the plant take to flower? Mine has been growing for almost 2 months and not a single flower. Not even a male flower. 😢. What can I do other than wait? I live in michigan so the weather has been rainy and cooler than usual.

    Quite a helpful video, thanks. Btw, I guess even ants help poliination on ridge gourd flowers. I've been seeing them all the time on my vines, including the flowers, males and females alike.

    Thanks for the wonderful tips. I just applied all of them. Let me see if it works. I had yellow leaves and applied need oil spray as I had only that now. Hope that will work. I have lots of Turai coming in as fruit but most are going yellow and dying off. I pinched all of them. Few still left.
    One question I have, if you could answer. If the female flower shows little small fruit at the bottom, ,does it mean it is pollinated already or it still needs pollination?
    Thanks again!!!

    • @indinomads2073
      @indinomads2073  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It still needs to be pollinated. You can hand pollinate to be sure. Good luck.

    I'm a beginner I planted ridge gourd and snake gourd which was fine initially. Then I moved it and guided it to the newly made trellis. Since then the huge bottom leaves look kind of droopy not exactly droopy but new leaves are looking excellent. Do I need to worry?

    Our Ridgeguard leaves are not growing like they are compressed and have become very hard. Not sign of flowers. It's been 3 months we planted here in Dallas
    Any thoughts ?

      Hi - Was there any progress in your plant ? Depending on where you planted, consider replanting it in a much more nutritious soil ?
      In situations like, I generally plant several plants in different locations to get the best possible result.

      Hi - since natural gardening requires trial and error method, here are some options for you:
      1) cow dung mixed in water
      2) neem powder mixed in water
      3) Mix of chilli powder, ginger/garlic paste and turmeric powder mixed in water
      Spray them on the plants regularly.

    I have a big problem of fruit flies ruining young ones.What should I do?

    • @indinomads2073
      @indinomads2073  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That sounds frustrating. I generally recommend not using any pesticides in the garden. Here are your options:
      1) Do you know the source of the problem ? Do you have trash or compost near the plant where the fruit flies are coming from? If so, consider moving the trash somewhere else.
      2) If practical cover the ridge gourd with screening cloth
      3) if they are eating the fruits, then considering protecting the fruits, after pollination, with covers
      4) Spray a mix of chillipowder, garlic, ginger pastes and turmeric power. Mix all of these in a bucket of water and spray the plants and the fruits. Also, spray around in the area.
      Please let me know if any these helped you.
