One of the biggest problems classic doctor who had was it's competition and it's budget, despite the shows about to change and refresh itself every few years the budget and the production value mostly stayed the same,in the beginning this didn't matter as much but when other films and TV shows started to realise in the late 80s with a much higher production doctor who began to feel outdated very quickly.
didn't mean to detract from the character, I framed that entirely as a funny bit, setting up the complexity of his take only to go "but he's a massive dick." Maybe a different delivery would've helped convey that better. Ah, well.
Excellent review i love doctor who one of the best sci fi shows of all time you can still see his influence in others shows and movies like back to the Future and ben 10
I love doctor who, particularly the seventh and twelfth doctor eras, though I love all my children (unequally) and your content, so this video pleases me
Thanks so much! I'm a big fan of Ten and Twelve but going back through the classics has really given me an appreciation for all the Doctors for what they bring to the table. Weirdly I find it very similar to comics, I know each new Doctor won't be the one I've grown to attached to but I'm always excited to see where they go and how they build on what came before.
Funnily enough doctor who has always been fantastic in comics, heck, the first special this year looks to be almost a straight adaptation of the 1970s DWM comic the star beast
Mary Whitehouse's criticism used to increase viewing figures and wasn't an issue. I don't imagine any of the right wing controllers at the BBC had any idea that at statire of Margaret Thatcher was broadcast in the late 80s in Doctor Who. They hated the campiness of it and didn't like adventure stories for children presumably. They thought it was tacky - when they didn't fund it properly. Sorry - remains a sore point!
"He was mostly just a massive dick though.." You've clearly never watched a Colin Baker story then, judging by that utter lie of a statement. That pathetic insistance to bring up the Sixth Doctors post regenerative stress attack on Peri is tiresomely tedious and no basis for such a sweepingly judgemental appraisal. Please judge after you have watched his stories. The Sixth Doctors mind addled attack on Peri pales in significance to the First Doctors consideration of murdering the caveman.... he was peefectly sane and fit.. the Sixth Doctor wasnt.

Doctor Who? More like DOCTOR GREAT VIDEO
More like Doctor HELL YEAH, thanks man!
10:28 Only at the start. And his Big Finish stuff fleshes his incarnation out. Over the decades, Six has become one of the most-loved Doctors.

@@ForEveryKindofGeek Oh I didn't take it "seriously". I actually chuckled a little. I just wanted to put that out there. 👍
“Look out Inspector! Blorgons!” Am I right Who-heads?! ✋🏻……
Despite never being very into Doctor Who, this video was great!
Thanks for the video. You didn't mention the 1996 TV movie!?
That one'll be included in the upcoming part 2, I see it as more of an effort to bring the show back than the last chapter in Classic Who
Dr. Who doesn't die, it ebbs and flows.
Such a true statement.

I’ll keep that in mind any time I write a funny observation of anything I see in the future
Anthony Coburn wasn’t the “ head writer” - he cowrote the first story
