I think at the beginning of season two Taluipa told Yeon that whatever he does in the past (year 1938) it won’t change the future which he comes from. So if that’s true then year 2020 Lee Rang probably never met/never fell in love with the mermaid in 1938, the same Lee Rang from 1938 will have a different future than the 2020 one (I mean he made up with Yeon so he wouldn’t feel wronged and angry if they met - as the story of the first season goes - in the year 2020). But I’m not sure, maybe some things Yeon changed in the past remained in the future… I haven’t watched ep 12 of the second season yet to be honest 😅 so I might be missing some important detail. I’m going to finish this drama today… EDIT: by the way, I finished watching the drama a couple of months ago
What I was about to say which honestly hurts even more. Rang never actually met her and they never actually fell in love. He also never got to experience any good with his brother in the future regardless. 1938 reallt was just there to make us weep more 😭

I mean… I didn’t finish season one because I was ultra annoyed by the FL and the amount of dramatic romance, so I don’t really know… but is there anything that implies that other gods/creatures (like Hongjoo) are not alive anymore in ‘the future’ or the present of the first season/year 2020+? Because at the end of season two Mooyoung tells Hongjoo “the era you live in” and that implies she’s not alive in the future (but why?). And we know that in the future/years 2020-2023 Mooyoung was revived (from stone) and then went back in time (the second season happening) but never came back (Like Lee Yeon did). And of course if you treat second season like alternative universe their lives don’t end the moment future Lee Yeon leaves the past, they go on and possibly have different fate than they would’ve had according to season one… I think majority of fans liked and grew close with the characters introduced in this season (2) (and I’ve seen a lot of people like it more than the previous one) so we would like to see them again in season three (or at least know their fate)… if we treat season two like u said, that non of this actually happened, it’s a really miserable thought indeed… I’m sorry, I kind of started rambling, I’ve never done so much theorising about a kdrama and I might be losing it a bit… (it is especially difficult to move on if your (read: mine) favourite character is from a supporting cast and played by relatively rookie actor with very little recognition… I want more (storyline etc, even behind the scenes or photos) but I will never get it 😭)…
