    Please do a video on meal prep. Two hours cleaning the enclosure. Not to mention meal prep, enrichment, daily baths when they are outside. The time you go out and spend with them. Your day is full of taking care of monkeys and working to afford to take care of the monkeys. So much time and work.

      Hi Sylvia & Margo! Yes, my days (every day) revolve around these guys and work to afford to care for them. It's a crazy busy life for sure!

    Apple cider vinegar is very useful as a non-toxic weed killer! It's also a great marinade for BBQ. We use diluted white vinegar to clean our house (walls, vinyl flooring, counter tops, etc.) because it's safe around our parakeet and chinchilla. Hot black tea is also safe and effective for cleaning hardwood floors in houses with small pets. If we ever need to use a major cleaning solution we open the windows for ventilation and first isolate the animals into another room with the door shut for a few hours with which they cooperate.

      Hi Steve and Rachel! I never thought of using it for BBQ. I may have to try that. I BBQ a lot in the summer!

      @@KiarasKorner Yeah, I like to brush it gently onto ribs, chicken, or brisket and I add a seasoning (rub) that comes from Memphis. I let it rest overnight wrapped in foil then I take it out and throw it in the smoker the next day. Memphis was the best barbecue city we've visited so far. We haven't been to Kansas City yet but I hear it's top notch BBQ too. Possibly next year we're hoping.

    I wish local farmers could bring you corn stocks, and other vegetables when they’re cleaning off the ground from their summer harvest those boys could eat on those plants for days too bad people don’t offer to bring you natural foods for them so it don’t cost so much to feed them cause I’m sure they’re hungry all the time

    • @KiarasKorner
      @KiarasKorner  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi meme! They do eat all of the time! 😂 they are little piggly wigglies! I was going to plant a little garden area for them, but changed my mind and will be making that area a swimming pool (hopefully next year). I really don't have the time to garden anyway. 😂 I don't know if the farmers use any type of pesticide on their crops, so that may not work anyway. I should talk to the farmer that mows my property for hay twice a year.

      @@KiarasKorner I was hoping local farmers would bring like their corn stalks and such while cleaning off their garden area. I know ppl have tomatoes and squash overflowing and this would be so nutritious for the boys. I’m sure you don’t have time for a garden. I would imagine the boys keep you very busy.

    Do all of them bite?

    • @KiarasKorner
      @KiarasKorner  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi agby! Yes, they all bite. I've learned how to safely interact with them and rarely get bit. But, it has happened. Petey has never actually bitten me aggressively, but he has nipped at me before. Harley has bitten me 3 times where it drew blood. Nikko has bitten me hundreds of times where it drew blood.
      Now, as far as the play biting, harley and Nikko play bite a lot with me. I was able to get petey trained at a fairly young age to only play bite with me when I have a glove on my hand. When I pull out a glove and start putting it on my hand, petey gets so very excited!😂

      @agby14 harley doesn't let the other boys sit on me or love on me very often. 😂 he will push them off my lap. Petey and Nikko are snuggly with me in bed at night. That's our time to be lovey since harley won't share me when he is around. 😂 good idea on doing a video about each of their personalities! I will try to do that in the near future.

    Anna, I'm trying to count but maybe you already know. How many Retriever kennel panels did it take to create the Monkeyland? I'm assuming two levels also for the height? Thanks

    • @KiarasKorner
      @KiarasKorner  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Michael! Including the double door entrance and the little sidekick for the swimming pool (which won't get built until next year) there are a total of 107 panels. That includes the door panels as well. There are 8 door panels.

    • @KiarasKorner
      @KiarasKorner  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh, I forgot about the panels that separate the 2 areas. So, that's another 10 panels. So, a grand total of 117 panels.

    Anna, how long does it take for apple cider vinegar to kill the weeds? And are you using it full strength?

    • @KiarasKorner
      @KiarasKorner  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Bella! I generally use the vinegar at full strength. But, this time I mixed about 25% water in with it because I didn't have enough to fill the sprayer. It still does the job even when it's not full strength. Within a day I can see the weeds dying, and then within 2 days, they are really easy to pull out. Harley likes to eat the weeds after I spray them. 😂 he must like the taste of that vinegar...yuck! 😂

    Bananas are not considered a good food for monkeys because they are too sugary and high in calories compared to the food wild monkeys eat. The high sugar content can damage a monkey's teeth and lead to health issues like diabetes and gastrointestinal problems. Wild monkeys don't eat bananas in the wild, they do eat other fruits, such as grapes, which are a major part of their diet. To maintain dental health, primates should also have access to hard foods like leafy branches and pellets that they can chew on. Animal nutrition has become a problem. Bananas and monkeys is a bit of a cliche, but they're not a good combination.

    • @KiarasKorner
      @KiarasKorner  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hi Brandi! In some respects, you are correct. A lot of fruit is not good for them. Mine get very little fruit. I always have to explain to everyone that the fruits cultivated for human consumption are extra sweetened and contain a lot more sugar than fruits found in the wild. With that being said, bananas are actually a good treat for them in small, moderated quantities. I just recently started giving them a half of a banana every few days because Nikko needs extra pre-biotics because he has stomach issues. So, on the days they get their half banana, they don't get any other fruits. Sometimes, we have to weigh out the pros and cons. And this is one of those times. So, again, in very small quantities it won't hurt them. They eat plenty of hard foods to help keep their teeth from getting any tarter build up. And they always eat their daily dose of monkey biscuits. They get a very well rounded and healthy diet.
