7:35 you said chop the orange dimmer wire off because do not need it. That is incorrect. Without the orange wire head unit might dim day and night based on light sensor. But that's it. The orange wire is for when dashboard/headlight is turned on at night. So then head unit will dim itself as well. And when using google maps, turning on headlights will auto change maps to night mode. So everyone do NOT chop off that orange wire. Test it with dashboard/headlights on to see behaviour as explained above. Then decide if want it. I personally wired the orange wire.

Hi, great vids. I just bought this yesterday and installed it last night into my i30, using Aerpro ISO harness APP064 and APP8P108. Do I need to do anymore wiring for unit to work, ie, hand brake power, or will the above listed harnesses take care of everything? I also installed a reverse camera, spiving into the power and earthe for the reversing lights, when I select reverse, with the head unit automaticcaly swith to reverse camera mode? Cheers Dave
Hey mate! Yep those two harnesses will cover you. Though if the car has steering wheel controls they won’t work as you need the module. Also sold by aerpro. The light green handbrake wire can go directly to the black wire (ground) and for the camera. There purple / white stripe wire also needs 12v signal from reverse light. Then settings > camera > rear view camera on. In the head unit. That should be you set up good to go :)

I'm in Australia, I have 3 main issues with this unit on a 3rd gen RAV4: - Steering wheel controls: When stopped I set it up "With adapter" and works flawlessly until I turn the vehicle off, then I need to remap it. Every freaking time, so I only do it on long trips, which bothers me cause 90% of the time the steering wheel controls are useless (only volume down works OOB). I didn't install the unit so I ignore which kind of adapter it has, I was hoping there's some way to just remember the settings. - Reverse camera: it's fast, even when booting up, but half of the time it doesn't work, nothing shows up on the screen. - Interface is customizable but it's all over the place, there's no cohesion between screens, it looks like a cheap knockoff brand, I wish there was a way to edit them even more or upload a different firmware that improves on the interface. Otherwise is a really good unit, is not sluggish as the competitors price point.
Awesome review thank you!! Can you confirm whether you can upload the customizable background image via Bluetooth or do we need the USB cable to do this? Is there only one USB cable for Apple Car Play or are there two to play videos etc off an external device as well? TIa

We've just had this one installed. Been told we can use video or TH-cam. How do we install apps to use on this head unit?
Thanks for the video, can you please tell me how can I mirror my iPhone to this unit? Thanks
How difficult is it to install it yourself and do you think it'd work with a 2014 corolla?
Very easy to install :) and it would work great in that car!
I'm in Australia, I have 3 main issues with this unit on a 3rd gen RAV4:
- Steering wheel controls: When stopped I set it up "With adapter" and works flawlessly until I turn the vehicle off, then I need to remap it.
Otherwise is a really good unit, is not sluggish as the competitors price point.
whats the best double din unit for a 2003 nissan skyline v35 2 door coupe?
Awesome review thank you!! Can you confirm whether you can upload the customizable background image via Bluetooth or do we need the USB cable to do this? Is there only one USB cable for Apple Car Play or are there two to play videos etc off an external device as well? TIa
Photos via USB :) one USB and it does everything (CarPlay videos etc)
Gday, curious how these systems go in an old Landcruiser (2002) around Broome. Its hot, humid, dusty & rough where I'll be going. However I'd like wireless connections, gps, camera, good mic. Any do's & don'ts to look out for? Regards
Hey mate! I would go for an Alpine unit as they have longer warranty periods. Units are little more expensive but if the unit will be exposed to harsh conditions it’s better to pay more and have a warranty. 2002 LC very easy install :)
@@TheFittingBay Great, thankyou. I may have opened a can of worms though it may be helpful to others.
I'm now thinking the gps is most important for my situation which is more to do with the phone . There's stereos with additional GPS receivers though they are advertised to compliment Car Play etc. Do you know if those GPS receivers can improver the use of the HEMA app or Goggle maps via a phone. Or would you be better off purchasing HEMA HX1 ?
Also as I drive a single cab ute I've not much room speakers & I should be concentrating on the running gear firstly..however can you recommend something suitable. May find room for a sub under or behind a seat.. I think 4inch factory speakers are in the dash plus the doors.
Regards, Bob.
@@sailingcamel1020 Hi mate! The external hema unit isn’t bad but if you go to alpine au website and look at HEMA units. They have units with GPS / CarPlay and HEMA all built in :) 4” speakers will need to be replaced for decent sound
Hi! What a informative video! Just wondering if this would fit in a 2007 Mazda 6?
Pam MacIntyre yep it sure will! You’ll need some accessories from www.aerpro.com
Hi there, great video, I’m probably getting this unit in a few weeks, was wondering can you have the radio going in the car play mode?? And change stations as well ??
Hey mario did u get the unit and does the radio work with Apple CarPlay? Thanks
@@mavenfpv7843 yep, it sure does, and I’m very happy with it!!
@@mariomanzatti8951 thanks for the reply. Been looking at this model for my wife’s car. Seems to tick all the boxes for a great price

Great Video, I have this head unit, Have you experienced an issue where the bluethooth is connect however when you go to spotify it says "No Drivce Connected, When Safe, connect device and reattempt connection", If so do you have any potential solutions? Thanks!
hey bud,,, i just purchased the same unit today and installed it myself... i drive a c180 2006 merc for some reason the steering wheel controls not working and the radio too not sure where i went wrong... I'm in melbourne
Apologies if this has been asked, but what needs to happen to have both a reverse camera with reversing sensors?? Thank you bud
Phil Waters Rear Sensor’s work independent from the camera and head unit. Unless you buy the pioneer parking sensors kit for optical display but they don’t work on this unit. So you can use any decent parking sensors kit for audible sound and a reverse camera to plug into the rcam rca on head unit :)
Hi mate, love your work. I have the same system but when I turn it on it boots up then goes to main screen as it should but after 10sec it shuts down and reboots again. It keeps doing this. Any suggestions?
Hi, do you know whe can I get the official firmware for this?
There is not for this model in the Pioneer website
Hey! Tossing up between this head unit and the Sony XAV-AX5000. Which would you recommend?
I'm tossing up between this and the Pioneer AVH-Z5200DAB.
There's about $120 difference? What do you think buddy? It's going into my Ralliart Lancer Sportback 2010 replacing my MMCS
I'm in a very similar situation, can't decide on what to put into my 09 Lancer Sportback
@@avrok I end up putting in the pioneer DMH 5350BT as I don't use DAB radio anyways.
I should have bought a facia kit as I have decent gaps either side due to the Rockford facia.
Hey guys. Good choice on the unit. Go onto aerpro.com and you can find the bits you need for your car!
Avro This or the Alpine ILX-W650E
@@TheFittingBay Trying to decide between this and the Alpine ILX-W650E also. The Alpine has slightly more screen real estate but the Pioneer seems to have better quality resolution and graphics? Also more customisable. I'm leaning towards the Pioneer but if you had to pick one which would it be?
This will work for the 360 camera in np300 navara 2018 model?
famila johns Hey mate! No unfortunately there isn’t an option available to retain the 360 camera. We have an integration module for CarPlay. It will allow Apple CarPlay to work with the factory screen. Jump on www.aesonline.com.au and submit contact form if you’re interested in that
Hi,
I would love to know which you'd rather the Alpine ILX-W650E or the Pioneer DMH-Z5350BT.
Great video btw !
Probably the pioneer just for features but either choice is a great one.
Is a usb cable ran from the back of the unit to users phone for android auto?, or is it just done via Bluetooth?
Hey mate. A couple questions. Can you listen to music while on Waze and will my reverse camera still work ?
Yes and yes
Hey mate, just wondering if you could tell me what the usb media capabilities are? I have the 5150bt and it's Max usb files are 15000 and folders are 1500. I can't find any info about that in the manual for this unit, just want to suss that out before I purchase it. Cheers
What is the top of the line model number of this Pioneer system?
AVH-Z9200DAB
Epic video but so confusing have the new models lost the customisation of the home screen ?
Hi Nathan
I really would like to know how to mirror the phone.

Hi there! I’m from Pakistan and wanted to ask if I could seamlessly fit this into my Honda civic 2020. The one we get from the factory doesn’t have CarPlay and I’d really like that.
Hey mate great video, I have a couple of question for you, if I put it in a 2012 Hyundai i30, will I still get to use 1.the standard reverse camera when I put the car in reverse? 2. The steering wheel volume buttons ect? 3. The standard microphone in the car? Thanks in advance.
Yes Yes and No it comes with a new mic
hey dude, what do i need to keep the steering wheel controls with this stereo on a sentra 2012 custom?
Aldo Ramírez A nissan module from connects2 will do the trick
Hi I am looking at installing one of these in a 2014 RG Colorado does it retain the car data that is in the screen I have now ,ie sets door locks indicator flash on door locking etc ?
Hey guys, I have a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe with climate control. Will the climate temps and mode show up on the Pioneer and Sony head units??
Hey mate would love to get an updated headunit for my 2015 Colorado, I'm after something with all this + digital radio. Is that possible?
Hey mate, just wondering how I get the steering wheel control icon to light up. I’ve installed this unit in my t31 xtrail but it doesn’t seem to work, hence no steering wheel controls. Do I need a handbrake bypass or a different module?? Cheers
Hey mate! You have to do this: 1) Press hold home button till unit turns off. 2) Then single press home again unit will boot up in "off" mode. Then you can go and set the SWC :)
How does the screen mirror work? Looking at getting one of these for netflix in the car.
Great video, really helpful! Is it worth spending the extra $$ on a head unit with wireless Carplay or is that still too buggy? Thanks!
M Altschul Wireless CarPlay all lights go !

We have a product coming very soon :)
A very comprehensive video. 👍👍
What cameras would you recommend for front and rear for a 2014 Hyundia i30?
Do you wire the rear camera so that it is powered all the time, or only when triggered by reverse?
Cheers.
Both can be on ignition if you want to access them at all times + automatically when R is engaged. Otherwise rear camera be on r only. and just pick the camera that suits the car as they all look pretty much the same unless you go top of the range alpine / kenwood and use the HD camera
@@TheFittingBay Cheers and thanks. 👍

How you connected reverse signal for camera
the box promotes the resolution as 1080 fullHD, but looking at the specs inthe manual show the resolution as 2400x480?
I think that is the screen size 2400x480 and it promotes 1080p resolution playback so you could watch a 1080p res movie through USB for example :)
Hi mate how do you mirror your phone to head unit so can watch videos? Cheers

Hi. Just got this installed. Worked very well. Anyone got any ideas why the audio is now half greyed out and not accessible to change - all we can access is the Mute Level button in the audio settings!!! HELP!!
Hey man, nice video, thanks to you I have selected this and installed it on my Aurion 2011. Now I'm getting the RCAMAVIC (the reverse camera that comes with the headunit during a sales) installed and I just want to ask if I should pair the camera to the ACC 12v from the headunit as the instruction manual from Pioneer said so, or should I get the 12v power from reverse light only? I saw there is an option for camera view on the headunit, is wiring to ACC better as it remains on when the car is on so I could use the camera view? Does the camera overheat that way?
How connect reverse camera wire
How do I get Bixby/Google voice and phone calls to work through my speakers, not from my phone? It worked once and then it stopped.

As in optical display? You’ll need another module. But the short answer is yes because this has a video input :)
does the apple car play not work through bluetooth?
