Lost my dad to cancer 4 month ago and took it hard. Started failing at college and feels like nothing was going for me but sicne I found this song, it has give me the drive to push myself forward in life and make my Dad truly proud of me. I thank four year strong for this song!
Lost my brother in Novemeber of 09. He was the singer of our band, no song has ever hit home like this one did. I went to their show after this album release where I live and wanted to reach out to them to find out who wrote the song, I never did find them after the show. This video finally explains who it was for. RIP.
my grandfather passed away a year ago today after a two year battle with cancer. I posted this song a year ago and today as well! prayers go out to every family battling this horrible disease. thank you Four Year Strong for this song to keep us all going!
I lost the only friend i ever trusted back in middle school. We were like brothers and did everything together, Till one day he ended in a car accident. I dedicate this song to him. He He will always be in my heart and never be forgotten
My Dad just passed away from cancer, I'm writing his eulogy right now.. this song helps a lot. The last line reads - "No matter how far the view, I'll always look up to you" Thank you FYS.
I lost my brother, McClain when he was 19... November 26th, 2009. He was the singer of a band we were starting. I tried to talk to Dan when they came to town last time, but didn't catch him after the show... I just wanted to thank him for this song. Every word hits so close to home and the song came out just a few months after his death. It meant more than a song and I never got my chance to really thank him for this.
One of my best friends just died recently and he and I shared an absolute love for this song. I know that he is listening to this song with me somewhere in a better place!
I lost my big brother on November 19 of 2011. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him. This song captures the emotion so well. Beautiful song. God bless.
I know exactly what it's like to lose someone. I lost my dad 3 and a half years ago and my uncle 2 months after. I was only 13, but songs like this help people like me who have experienced a great loss. My heart goes out to anyone who has lost a loved one, but just take it one step at a time, and breathe in and out, because it WILL be ok, as said by the greatest band of all time.
This morning i lost my grandad and it is so tough for me. This song relates to everything we have been through and what i think of him. Much love pops R.I.P3 :'(
i was diagnosed with leukaemia in april 2004, this song brought a tear to my eye first time i heard it tbh and i dont care who knows it, the lyrics are awesome tbf.
This is one of the most beautiful performances of this song... This freaking song kept me alive when i lost a dear friend to suicide two months ago, If it weren't for this song i'd be dead... I told that to Alan when i saw them live and they played this and he hugged me (and i'm a dude) it was awesome lol :) I owe my life to these guys they are amazing... yea i know some of you will comment on my post saying i'm gay for hugging Alan but it meant the world to me.
I've never lost anyone and when I hear this acoustic version I feel so happy and sad. I love reading the comments because it's great reading about how people will lob this song and talk about they why
i remember listening to this song in the car on the way to blackpool, i was reading a magazine and i read that it was about Dan's brother just as it got to the chorus. no word of a lie, i got shivers.
I'm obsessed with this song it's helped me so much with alot of stuff that's been going on with my family. I write the lyrics all over my arms everyday
Wow this song makes me think of my older brother and my father the two people i look up the most to... I cant imagine my life without them and a bucket of water is just randomly thrown at my face every time i hear this song thinking about that
I’ve always loved this song. I heard it years ago and it caught my attention, fast forward to my life now after losing my best friend to ALM 6 months ago this song just means so much more. Thank you for making this song.
After all the acoustic versions they've done, this is truly my favorite. The vocals in this one, though not as refined as the other versions, just hold so much more emotion than the others.
Many props to Dan. I don't know how anyone could get over something like that. I would be crushed and die inside if any of my siblings died... Love you guys.
3:18-3:30 goddamn...this moment send shivers down my spine...actually i never thought that this song is about someone's passing away...I will never listen to this song the same way again[2]...
this is probably my favorite FYS song. it's so honest and heartfelt and easy to relate to, even if it isn't that exact situation. can't wait to see you guys in worcester on the 30th ♥
My friend and mentor has the same birthday as me. He died a month shy from his birthday. 1:58 - 3:11 hold's so much meaning. I thank FYS for putting out such a great song :D
@Hostilekid909 Sorry to hear about your brother, I can't imagine what you are going through - as long as this song helps you, then listen to it daily and remember the good memories of your little brother.
This version should have been on the album. I know they don't play at this tempo on their albums but the acoustic version has a sincerity that the album version lacks.
@WesBoom7 when someone you love passes away, you try not to think about it too often to avoid emotional hurt. i know if i had to think about the year someone i love died, it'd make me think about how, why, and how it affected me and i'd cry on the spot. dan is staying strong, something alot of people can't do.
my grandfather passed away today. i've had this song on repeat ever since i heard the news.
One of my favorite bands and one of my favorite songs. First time I've ever cried while listening to a song. I lost my dad when I was 9. Rip Dad 3

Dude, I love this song a whole lot. I listened to it on the way to work and it honestly made me cry.
One of my best friends died in a car accident 2 years ago in January this song has helped me so much
Nice... very nice... beautiful message...
Very moving song, I can't stop listening to it.
Their beards are awesome too!
After all the acoustic versions they've done, this is truly my favorite. The vocals in this one, though not as refined as the other versions, just hold so much more emotion than the others.

My friend and mentor has the same birthday as me. He died a month shy from his birthday. 1:58 - 3:11 hold's so much meaning. I thank FYS for putting out such a great song :D
I always wondered what this was about because i could feel the emotion behind the song when he sings it.
this song, so great.

@walkerkid1 So sorry to hear your loss. Merry Christmas to you and your family, may God bless you.

@Hostilekid909

so true
The best songs are the ones that mean something.
I love this. And it's ironic because my dad died a couple years ago and his birthday was flag day.
Dan looks like the definition of a gentle giant.
@WesBoom7 when someone you love passes away, you try not to think about it too often to avoid emotional hurt. i know if i had to think about the year someone i love died, it'd make me think about how, why, and how it affected me and i'd cry on the spot. dan is staying strong, something alot of people can't do.
@kgeemonee Spot on. Thank you.
RIP Aunt Lisa. I'm gonna get through this one way or another.
@hillerpride It's on the Delux Version. All the acoustic stuff is plus Bad News Bearz.
I cried listening to the rock version alone in my car... it's a work of art when a song makes you feel that much.
Btw I'm a man.
they played this live after my grandmother died and i cried on the spot
I actually didn't know the meaning behind this song until now... Holy shit.
this song is tatted on my arm "no matter how far the view i still always look up to you"
I hate my life so much, man.... i miss my friends so much. Heroin really sucks but i always come back to it... i wish i cud go back
Most epic part is when you realize how well they pull off wearing those costumes
Heartfelt, touching rendition of a song while wearing awesome pirate costumes. Fuck yeah.
@metaltilim60 He said it's "a kind of art" meaning that it is a type of art meaning that it is art.
