I still remember the commercials as a kid and i'm 36 now and they are still stuck in my head till this day "Come See The Softer Side Of Sears" , Sears sure will be missed by many Wallie

I love how people lament over a loss of a major chain store dinosaur. Yet like myself you would be hard pressed to remember the last time you spent a dime at Sears.
    Great channel!

Well, up until Sears was gone out of the Pittsburgh area, I actually did some routine shopping there. I didnt do anymore once they all left. When we were in Texas and I saw these locations, I was happy I could pick up a few things from there. Just hated how it was closing and knowing I wouldn't be able to shop there again.

I bet Sears & his partner Roebuck are probably turning in their graves with their company going under. I'm not sure what the real reason why this chain is closing except only what I hear on here. I guess I'll need to research stories not that I'm saying anyone is wrong so please don't get mad at me. Take care!

Wally I agree with you 100% having those chains on that door is a fire hazard

I'm sad to hear Sears is going out. I'm 58 years old and I remember Sears when I was a kid. You had your big 3: Sears, JC Penny and Montgomery Ward. My folks shopped at Sears all the time. They got appliances from there. Tools.

Hey Wallis! I was on the construction crew that renovated the store around 2001-ish and believe it or not it was a former Montgomery wards and you would not believe all the Wards memorabilia that was just trashed The company I worked for had a very strict policy about not taking anything off the property and they had LP watching us sad to see the store go

Wow thats a shame nothing could be saved. It all got erased from history. Its neat though to hear from someone who actually helped build that Sears. So cool! Sad that this store is now gone.

Yeah here too in Seattle metro there used to be so many Sears locations yet there is only one left in a suburb called Tukwilla. There was one in Redmond WA that was always crowded with people from Microsoft but I think that one closed as the land was worth a fortune and is now being redeveloped in to large ugly towers.

Wallie - I was traveling on highway 64 going east towards Huntington, WV, I think it was near Cannonsburg, KY - as I was driving towards Huntington, WV on the left was an INTACT ABANDONED KMART with all the signage and everything. I wanted to stop and get pictures for you - but I have trouble walking and I couldn't. Happy Hunting. I tried to search on internet where it was - but couldn't find it. Good luck.

I just went with my mom to one of the malls that has a Sears in my area - I also suspect they will be liquidating soon. It used to be 3 floors - Men's and Kids/Toddler section on the 3rd floor, Home/Tools/Mattresses on the 2nd floor, and Women's/Shoes/Accessories/Jewelry on the main floor. They closed down the 3rd floor and sealed off the escalator, so now the 2nd floor is whatever they have left of Home/Tools combined with limited Men's clothing, and the main floor is a very limited selection of Women and Kid's stuff, with the Jewelry counter left abandoned. Some spaces are almost totally empty save for a few racks of clothing. Almost everything was 70% off. There were also 5 employees tops on both floors. It's really sad to see.

Thank you for posting the video about the Sears at Hulan Mall it brought tears to my eyes. My husband worked at Sears for 23 years as a second job. In 1980 he began working at the Sears store at the Seminary South Shopping Center, Fort Worth in the "Loss Prevention" Department. Loss Prevention is another name for Security officer. He worked at the Seminary Store until it was closed and moved to Hulan Mall in the space that was previously a Montgomery Wards store. Me and my children have many fond memories of his time working at Sears. It saddens me to see all the Sears and K-Mart stores closing. I worked for 10 years at the K-Mart store in Fort Worth near the Seminary South Sears. Thanks again for the memories.

So sad to see something go that was so close to where I grew up. Although I didn't spend much time specifically in the Sears, Hulen Mall was one of my favorite malls growing up, the second closest one and the closest "big" one. Thank you for being in the area at the right time to capture it. Also, Kayla is absolutely adorable even without the blue hair.

I forgot about that place! I didnt remember it again until last month when I had to stop at Enterprise Rent-A-Car for my job across the street and I saw it first hand. If I wasn't on the clock, I would have swung over there to film it. I'll get it soon though. Just have to do it on my own time.

I’ve wondered what is the most updated sears you’ve been to? The most updated sears I’ve seen to so far was the one where I live in Albuquerque New Mexico. It closed in 2018 though. A furniture store took over and it still looks the same inside except with furniture and home decor stuff.

Sears is an amazing company, they will survive. Covid was hard on every retail store. Summer is coming and sales will be back up again. Sears is doing well online and they have a lot of stores in Mexico because they'll liked over there. I love Sears stores as I continue to buy from Sears in the store and online. Great customer service, great prices, American made products. God bless Sears

Also Luxoticca (owner of Sears Optical, Lenscrafters, and a few others) closed all Sears Opticals in February 2020, the one by me at Woodfield Mall is now a fixture graveyard blocked off by garden sheds and lawn mowers

Every sears that closes makes me sad. They all closed here in Canada in 2018. Our local store had been open since 1958 and had never been renovated. I felt like a part of my childhood died when that store closed. It had an elevator just like the one in your video. Super small and slow.

I read this on theLayoff.com Makes sense to expand the food court. Also I have seen the Sears mall stores here in Southern California follow the same procedure, the second floor gets emptier and emptier... next thing you know the store closing sale signs appear. Dang, they even closed Sears at South Coast Plaza. High revenues are a no-brainer at that mall!

Sears has sold all it's brands to other companies, so there is no need to keep them open. The stores loose money every operating day!
