Call of Duty: World at War, Veteran Speedrun

- One of my favorite Call of Duty games. The campaign is really well done and it's one of the most difficult. The enemies often have infinite respawns until you hit a trigger, and they will throw grenades right on you if they can't shoot at you. Speed running it means finding the most efficient routes that don't lead to huge deaths. I just kept trying to get a complete run. A lot of deaths are just bad luck or dumb mistakes. I practiced the early levels a lot and just winged it near the end. There's a lot of room for improvement, but I'm glad I got a complete run.
There's a decent attempt at historical accuracy which is very cool. The first mission is based on a real raid that alerted japan and made them ramp up defenses and change tactics. The second and third mission they shelled the beaches and advanced to take the airfield. Apparently there was criticism for the cost of taking that island since it took so much and yielded next to nothing. An example of Japan willing to fight to the death for every inch of territory. The Reznov sniping mission is fiction, but the Soviet Union rushing to take Berlin, being brutal and merciless, is real. Overall both sides of the campaign show a good depiction of the later stages of the war. The voice acting from Gary Oldman as Reznov is top notch. The music is great, the guns feel good, and it's linear but most of the battles are in open areas where you can approach it however you want. Normally I hate infinitely respawning enemies and banzai attackers around every corner, but it serves the theme, and the difficulty also adds to the narrative. Everyone loves this game for inventing zombies, but the campaign is one of the greatest, and I have so many memories with the multiplayer.
It keeps your sprint momentum when you jump, and people can bunny hop in it I think, but I have no clue so I just sprint and jump everywhere. Drop shots or going prone while shooting is not just good in multiplayer, I use it a lot. Certain guns affect your speed, smgs and pistols move faster than rifles or mgs. I try to use enemy smgs because ammo is limited, speed, and their accuracy/fire rate. You get invincibility frames when doing the melee counter animation. The 4th mission the sniping level with Reznov has the only skip I know about. You can jump out of bounds and trigger the general somehow, skipping most of the level. Almost all of the deaths are mistakes by me, but some of them are just bad luck. It's really sloppy but it took a long time to just get a complete run. Sometimes the npc's get stuck and it adds time or softlocks the level. You can technically control if they throw grenades at you or not but more often than not it's random based on the ai. The lack of checkpoints on certain levels are brutal. - เกม
This campaign on veteran is no gottttdaym joke I tell ya whuuuuat
for goddamn sure, i played nothing but the campaign on veteran (redoing a couple missions like black hawk to save more people) and i had 20 hours apparently dumped into it. Not all of that was me actually playing but still. Obstacle juggling because of grenades was a huge issue, especially during the pacific missions. I reiterate, i played nothing but the veteran campaign until i beat it the way i wanted to and it took roughly 20 hours.
I used to play this game semi competitive when i was like 12. my word.
this guy can take 3 minutes just to do a part that took me 5 hours lmao
I played this back in 2009 thinking I was hot sh!t, boy was I humbled.
Not only that, I played in my early 20’s. I’m now in my mid 30’s and have listened to Dan Carlin’s War in the Pacific and boy does this vid hit multiple different notes for me!
same age as me
It it just me or is Dan Carlin so hard to understand. To my brain it’s almost incoherent. Like random words just spaghetti thrown at a wall
They respawn everytime , they launch 50 grenades by seconds
This COD campaign in veteran is Hell
After 168 deaths on Burn 'em Out I finally passed thanks to you,ty man,ty
Heart of the Reich is so goddamn hard on veteran i am glad you also had a bad time lmao, literally took me 50+ deaths and desk slams to beat it
This was the first COD game I completed on veteran back in the day.
Word on the street is it's the toughest... I never finished cod 2 though
@@Howhaveyouben I was in grade 5/6 at the time, so, naturally I was retarted. It took me months to finish... Honestly, I am surprised I was able to do it at that developmental level! I tried COD2 when I was fresh out the womb, but I was hopeless.
@@Howhaveyoubenif you can speedrun this on veteran then you can finish COD2 don’t give up! I finished it just a few days ago for the first time. I’d take a day or two break in between sessions but with endurance and willpower it can be done
Some of your Speedrun strats are helping me getting this done, thank you
up there in the tree .. BANZAAAIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
incredibly skillful. great work!
Totally awesome gameplay. I have subscribe to your channel, and look forward to your next video. Have a great day my friend.
19:26 we’ve all been there…..
I'm surprised you didn't utilize the raygun in lv 2; other than that, great run.
Wait what raygun
@@Alguien644 when you run through the 4 puddles on the beach a dog statue comes up & gives you a raygun

@@Alguien644 theres an easter egg in one of the campaign levels where you can get the ray gun from zombies
@@caoqt I thought that was a joke lol, but i don't remember mission 2 being that difficult so whatever. would've definitely helped my run during iwo jima or the castle (shudders)
ray gun wasnt very effective in campaign, would have been a waste of time using it.
Pretty cool but where the timer at
DO NOT KNOCK THIS UNTIL YOU TRY IT!!! GRENADE SPAM IS REAL!!!!! holy shit I just finished my first playthrough of this game, and 2:56:40 never happened. plutonium or just WaW PC port broke like mentioned in the description personally, I had redo the whole mission, I was FaZe Jev in a august burns red T-Shirt, just screaming, "PATHETIC!!!! THAT THIS WAS VETERAN IN 2008" & "WOOOO WOOO O WOOO WWHATTTT!!!?!?!?!" lol anyways veteran was "fun" onto B01&2 XD, nice run bro I had probably 10x more deaths no need for the huge description, your late game killer. This game is so unforgiving you have to know every decent gun but, also it has to have an ample amount of ammo too on every level.
How did you take down that Sniper in Vendetta?
I saw him spawn in and I got a lucky spawn where I can see his elbow when he's in cover and got three body shots
@@Howhaveyouben How did you do the glitch?
@@ConnorTheDJ24 I didn't do it on purpose. It just happens sometimes. Sometimes you can see his head and use two shots. Sometimes he's completely hidden
@@Howhaveyouben I understand, I feel like Vendetta is such a luck-based mission on Veteran. I would rather go through Heart of The Reich twice on Veteran than go through Vendetta on Veteran.
Sometimes he spawns before Resnov arrives
To beat 2:40:11 you have to clear the buildings first then your army will move forward.
Awesome
